A lovely Villa with Sea and Mountain views

By Clare Cook on 26-Aug-2019

A lovely villa with great mountain and sea views. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we had plenty of room. The rooms were all clean and well presented with nice finishing touches. The welcome pack including bread, beer and wine was very welcome as we arrived quite late into the evening. The villa was home from home with everything we needed. The balcony around 2 sides of the house had lovely views and was nice at all times of day particularly the evening. The pool is a good size and was clean and kept topped up throughout our stay and there were plenty of sun loungers.

Denise, the local agent, arranged all our local travel - we were met at Larnaca airport by a taxi and then a hire car was delivered to the property the following morning. The arrangements all went really smoothly. Denise was also really helpful in getting a couple of minor issues resolved - someone was sent out to sort them the same day.

The location is fairly remote so a hire car is essential. There are good supermarkets about 5 Km away. There is a road behind the villa and there is some very minor traffic noise but the road is not visible from the villa and it wasn’t an issue at all for us. In the villa at night it can not be heard when the air conditioning is on and as it's just a link road it's just the sound of cars passing, no stop/starting, beeping etc.

The local beach is a lovely sandy beach and only 10-15 mins walk from the villa. The far part of the beach (towards the restaurant) is great for swimming. We also enjoyed visiting the Alagadi Turtle project one evening to release some turtle hatchlings into the sea. We visited the nearby Acapulco hotel to use their slide park – this was really good and reasonably priced at 50 TL (approx. £7.50) per person. We also did a sunset cruise from Kyrenia – lovely meal, swimming (with boat slide which kids loved) and fantastic sunset over the sea.

We ate out most of the time during our visit and all the meals were really good. The menus were quite similar (meze, kebabs etc). Some restaurants worth a mention – Benoz in Alagadi – the food was great, reasonably priced and the owners very welcoming; Eminem in Catalkoy (set menus very good but a lot of food!), Bella Moon in Bellapais (small, family-run courtyard style restaurant with great meze included in meal). Also slightly further a field but after a visit to the ruins at Salamis we stopped at Pisces and Spices in Iskele - the fish and chips were fantastic and the service excellent.

Villa Michelangelo, Alagadi, Kyrenia, Kyrenia, Cyprus

By Eileen on 15-Jun-2018

The Villa is well presented and Denise the manageress adds lovely finishing touches that make the place seem extra special. There are great views of the sea and mountains. The pool easily accommodated our party of two adults and three children. The photographs accurately show the glory of the villa. There was traffic noise from a road at the back of the villa down an embankment. It could not be heard over the air conditioning at night. The village restaurants serve fairly similar type menus, kebabs, meze, omelettes, chips, salad and a small selection of sea food. The average cost for five meals and one round of drinks (2 beers and 3 soft drinks) was approximately 120 Turkish Lira. St Kathleens was the cheaper option about 104 Turkish Lira. We ate at the Valley View on the coastal road to Kyrenia, a main meal with meze was approximately 40 Turkish Lira they also did a limited kids menu of pizza etc and was the only restaurant to offer vegetarian options and other styles of Turkish food. Prices in Kyrenia itself seemed cheaper and around the harbour area there were offers of a round of drinks for free or desserts for the children included . You will be harrassed by waiters! Kyrenia is busy so park outside (80p for two or more hours) and walk in. The harbour is very pretty at night with twinkly lights and little market stalls. There are a good selection of supermarkets along the coast road towards Kyrenia all of which take sterling, lira and cards.Food prices in the supermarkets we were about the same as Britain the cost of a 2 kilo chicken was approximately 13 Turkish Lira and about the same for a kilo of minced beef. Efes beer was about £1.00 /500ml in the supermarket, cheaper bottles of red wine( 12TL), not very palatable. Alagadi beach is sandy, the sea is warm and shallow and was generally calm. The turtle project is based in the village and will take people to watch nest excavations and turtle release on the beach for a donation. At the back of the beach is a bar that is reasonable to eat and drink at and you can hire umbrellas. there are public toilets and showers that can be used in the car park for 1TL. Other beaches in Kyrenia region are beach clubs and you have to pay to go on. Escape is a lovely beach club but gets very busy. They charge for adults and children over 12, 10 (TL).

Spent a week at the villa last year and am going for nearly two weeks this year as we had such a great time. It's a great location overlooking the bay with lovely bars and restaurants in walking distance and very friendly locals. The villa itself is very comfortable with all the amenities you need and has a good sized pool. We have a two year old and were able to request a cot, high chair and car seat which were all there when we arrived, and of good quality. Locally we visited Kyrenia (very picturesque harbour town), the local Acapulco beach club 5 mins away (excellent pools and beach) and Korinium golf club which was not only a fantastic golf course but good for eating in the evening aswell. Cannot recommend the villa or the area enough - we love it!

A lovely and relaxing place to stay

By Geoffrey And Family on 05-May-2018

We had a lovely 2 weeks at Villa Michelangelo and found the villa to be spacious (even for 4 adults and 3 young children), clean, well equipped and excellent value for money. I would echo all the positive comments in other reviews about the villa itself, the lovely pool, wonderful views, nice local beach, excellent food and service at Benoz restaurant and how friendly and helpful Denise and Darrell were while booking and during our stay. As others have mentioned, a visit to the turtle project is a really interesting afternoon and/or evening for adults and children. We had a fantastic holiday and would not hesitate to return or recommend. With all those good things in mind, there are a couple of points worth noting if you're thinking of visiting: - having a car is virtually essential as the villa is about 10mins drive away from the nearest supermarket and 15mins from the center of Kyrenia - while the views from the villa itself are wonderful and the Alagadi "cove" is quite scenic, around the coast a little way things get a bit more industrial so you really need to go into Kyrenia or head further north up the island for scenic - there's no dishwasher so be prepared to washup While researching for the holiday, we found the villa on google maps and became slightly apprehensive that we might get noise from the road that the villa backs onto or find the pool area to be overlooked / not private due to the proximity to other villas. Thankfully these were not issues .. the villas are laid out in such a way that they feel very private and not overlooked and while there is some noise from the road, it is low in a cutting so for the main part it was barely noticeable and certainly it was never enough to disturb or annoy. So in summary, we really liked Villa Michelangelo, thought it was excellent value for money and had a lovely holiday!

Truly Beautiful. The best holiday ever

By Steve R on 21-Oct-2017

Oh my god what a fabulous place! All transport from the airport was arranged for us which was fantastic.Didn't have to worry about a thing. Got off the plane and there was the taxi man waiting. Very friendly and helpful. Arrived at the villa about midnight and we all jumped straight in the pool! Lovely! The place was so comfortable and welcoming. Very clean and tidy with a VERY welcome "welcome pack": nice cold beer in the fridge, bottle of wine and food enough for all. Hire car turned up on time in the morning....again all sorted for us. The local contact was great she helped us with anything we needed. Something broke during our stay, and the guy was out to fix it the same afternoon! .....you don't get that kind of service back home!! All in all we had the BEST time there. cannot fault it. All the kids absolutely adored it too! We will definately go back this year. I highly recommend :0) Steve, Sue, Stephanie & the Kids

phantastischer Urlaub von Anfang an Villa Michelangelo, Alagadi, Kyrenia, Kyrenia, Cyprus

By Wolfgang on 15-Sep-2017

Beautiful Villa , great location

By Alan P on 01-Aug-2017

Our party was 2 couples over 55. We arrived at Villa Michaelangelo in Alagadi at about 11:00pm after a transfer from Larnaca Airport arranged by Denise the local host.On arrival we were somewhat tired but we were delighted to find the inside of the Villa was welcoming , spotlessly clean and ready for us to just crash out. However , we had ordered a 'Welcome Pack" of food and drink, so we chilled out with a glass or two of wine and a sandwich and eventually retired to bed, relaxed and "happy". On getting up next morning, I can only describe opening the shutters to views of mountains and the sea , as stunning. Exploring the outside of the villa, revealed a good size , very clean and well maintained pool , with ample loungers and outside furniture. The whole feel of there Villa was relaxing , and hassle free, and because of the Villa's position at there top of the sloping terrain the views from the balcony's at the front were simply beautiful. Alagadi is an 'out of the way' village and very quiet, although the road in the cutting at the back of the villa was a little noisy, but only for brief periods during, we presumed , the daily commuter traffic to Kyrenia. We much enjoyed strolling to the beach , and/or dining on the local Taverna's , of which there are 3 in the village. Menu's tend to be very similar, (Meze and Kebabs) all are reasonably priced and good quality. We would recommend "Valley View" just outside Alagadi on the coast road to Kyrenia, not just for the food and prices, but also for the fact it has good free Wifi, ( which can also be picked up in the lay-by outside). There are no shops in Alagadi, there are a number of Supermarkets along the road to Kyrenia, which offer a good selection, also there are a couple of large Fruit and Veg stalls near the supermarkets which offer really fresh , good priced local produce. Although there is public transport around, we rented a car for our stay, and couldn't really have managed without it. A visit to Kyrenia, and a trip along the coastal road north to the 'Pan Handle' is recommended, but we we got what we wanted, a hassle free, relaxing break in lovely surroundings, and we intend to repeat it this year.

Luxurious villa for a relaxing holiday

We've just returned from our stay at Villa Michelangelo and can't recommend it enough. Spent most of our time around the beautiful pool as it was so hot we could barely drag ourselves away. The benefit of Villa Michelango is its high up with fabulous sea views so you can benefit from a cooling breeze. Inside the villa was equally stunning, exactly like the pictures and the little added touches of neatly folded towels with soap and fresh flowers throughout the villa was really appreciated. The village is really nice (typical rural Cypriot village) with goats, dogs, cats and chickens. One of the best beaches within walking distance where you can find the Turtle Project. We took Denise's advice and booked for the night turtle watch, what an amazing experience!! We saw a huge green turtle lay her eggs while we were educated about these wonderful creatures. (A real David Attenborough moment!!!) And again, right on the doorstep! A 10/15 min drive to the supermarkets (can recommend SAH marketplace for the takeaway cooked food and salad bar - amazing Moussaka!) but if you want to eat out there are 3/4 restaurants within walking distance in the village. Limited menu's (if they have a menu!!) but just the meze's were fab, especially at St Kathleens. As you can tell, we had a fabulous time and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to Denise, Andy and Ferit for all the help, hope to come back soon. If you're thinking of booking, don't hesitate!

Affordable luxury for a fantastic family holiday

By Brian M on 14-Jul-2016

I had a wonderful holiday at Villa Michelangelo. Alagadi is a peaceful and unspoiled and in a protected area. The Villa was lovely, and the pool superb. I traveled with my family and Villa Michelangelo comfortably accommodated 6 of us. From booking to arrival it was a very easy process. Everything was ready when we arrived including welcome pack placed in the Villa. The taxi from the airport was very luxurious and the driver helpful. Our hire car was waiting at the Villa. All of this was arranged by the very helpful local agent. We had a fabulous, relaxing holiday and cannot wait to return to both Villa Michelangelo and North Cyprus. Highly recommended .
My Response
Thank you so much and we are really glad you had such a wonderful holiday at Villa Michelangelo. We try to make sure everything is perfect for our guests from start to finish to ensure you have a relaxing time. We hope you will visit us again !

Very relaxing 2 weeks

By Brian And Sharon on 04-Oct-2014

Having never been to North Cyprus before, Darrell & Eileen were very helpful in our planning, and Denise in Cyprus arranged all our needs of taxi, hire car and welcome pack which really helped, and was available on the phone anytime should you need any assistance or advise. North Cyprus is best descibe as rustic, the Villa at Alagadi is well positioned for travelling to all parts of the North of the island. It was well equipped and was very spacious. The swimming pool was very welcoming to cool off during the day and the view is amazing, The Villa is equipped with air con in the bedrooms which we used during the night. A car is required to make the most of the holiday, we travelled all over the North of Cyprus. Kyrenia, Famagusta Nicosia and many of the historical sites all worth visiting and a 2hr drive up the Karpas peninsula is worth the drive. The supermarkets are about 3km away, and Kyrenia about 9km. Driving is on the left, and the roads are very good. Eating out was great with many restraunts, some within walking distance, but many more in a short drive, all served great food and were very good value for the money. The Villa is very close to Turtle beach and the Turtle project, we were a couple of weeks to late to get involved with the turtle release. Many thanks again to Darrell, Eileen and Denise for thier help in making our holiday stress free. Brian , Sharon and friends Plymouth Devon
My Response
Thanks for your review and we are really glad you had such a good holiday and toured North Cyprus from coast to coast ... Alagadi is always a good place to start from ! We are also pleased you enjoyed Villa Michelangelo as we try to go the extra mile to make everything perfect and it seems we did just that. We hope we can welcome you back to North Cyprus and also to Villa Michelangelo.

Villa michelangelo

By The Goldings on 24-Jul-2013

We arrived at Villa Michelangelo in the early hours of Wednesday morning.Denise had arranged our Taxi ride from Larnaca Airport and our driver was there waiting for us as soon as we had collected our luggage. Denise had also arranged for some provisions to be at the house which was ideal given the time we arrived. Our hire car was also waiting at the Villa as we arrived. Although the hire car was quite old, it did it's job of ferrying us around. Furthermore you can't hire cars in the South and travel to the North anyway. We would recommend that if you stay at VM you take up the Taxi ride (very good value given it is well over an hours journey from Larnaca Airport), car hire and provisions which Denise organised very efficiently and at very reasonable cost. The Villa itself is situated over the looking the Sea and the views are very nice. The cooling breeeze at the top of the hill is ideal given the temperatures were in the high 30's or just into the fourties in July / August. The Air Con in the bedrooms was vital in order to sleep in the heat and one small criticism is that the Unit in the main bedroom could be slightly larger given the size of the room. The facilities at VM are excellent and our two teenage sons enjoyed relaxing in and around the pool. Alagadi Beach, which is a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive away, is probably the best in the area. A lovely sandy beach which also has a restaurant just along the beach for snacks and refreshing drinks. Alagadi Beach is also famous for it's Marine Turtles and we spent one night releasing some Turtle hatchlings into the Sea to start their journey in life - A wonderful experience for all of the Family. The Benoz restaurant is definitely the best of the restaurant's that are in walking distance and we spent a number of evenings here. The family run restaurant was a friendly and welcoming place. However, there are a large number of restaurants around the Harbour at Kyrenia which are well worth the 15-20 minute drive. Kryenia is a lovely place and you can also get a number of boat trips from the Harbour there if you fancy a day / evening on a boat. We would thoroughly recommend a family holiday at Villa Michelangelo. The Goldings (24/07/13-04/08/13)

Our Stay at Villa Michelangelo, Alagadi

By Mark P on 22-Jul-2012

We stayed at Villa MA in the last week of July 2012. Everything was extremely easy to organise and we would like to thank Darrell for the efficient and helpful correspondence in the lead up to our stay. Bank transfers were quickly acknowledged and any questions were easily dealt with. Denise, the lady that looks after the property in Cyprus, was also a huge help and we were very impressed by the support and peace of mind that she gave us. The best thing about the holiday (other than the weather) was that the villa was exactly as described. We have been to Northern Cyprus several times as a family and so we know what to expect - we were not disappointed. Villa MA was clean, spacious, very well equipped and a relaxing place to be. The pool was fantastic and we spent a lot of time just relaxing by it each day. Villa MA does back onto the coastal road (many of the villas do) but you quickly get used to the traffic and it was not something that we had a problem with. Places to go: Kyrenia harbour by day and night - good food and excellent (knock your socks off!) Brandy Sours. Kantara castle followed by Kaplica beach. The further you go up the 'panhandle' the less developed the coast area becomes. Nicosia (Lefkosa) is worth a visit for the hustle and bustle of the centre. Valley View restaurant (approx 2 miles away) is also well worth an evening out as the food is excellent and the service could not have been better. If you fly into Larnaca, we would thoroughly recommend the private taxi hire that is arranged by Denise. Journey time of 80mins was fine. We would also strongly recommend that you take up the hire car option that is arranged by Denise - great value. A very welcome bonus was that the security deposit for electricity and damages was largely returned intact and this was despite our heavy use of aircon to deal with the 40 degree heat. Overall we loved it and will certainly look to return before too long.
