Villa Bernarda, Altura, Portugal

Villa Bernarda, Altura, Portugal.
My partner, myself and 4 of our friends stayed at the villa during the last week in August and the first week in September 2019.
The villa is attractively decorated with tasteful furniture and high standard facilities.
There are 4 double bedrooms with en-suite facilities and a separate shower room and toilet on the ground floor.
Outside the grounds are extensive and very well maintained with a large lawn area, swimming pool and barbecue.
The villa is in a quiet residential area, a short distance from shops, restaurants, several beaches and numerous golf courses.
The guidebook in the villa covers virtually every helpful advice you would want to ask.
I can strongly recommend the villa to anyone considering a holiday in Portugal.

Fantastic villa and location
By Dawn Baker on 08-Sep-2019
We have been staying here for many years. The villa is ideal for our expanding family with four double size bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. The villa has a large kitchen and lounge/diner and is extremely clean and modern with all essential appliances, including satellite tv. The large swimming pool, patio, gardens, BBQ and external eating areas are excellent and well used by us. The property is in a residential area, with panoramic views of the sea and countryside. It is very secure and private with walled gardens and electric entry gates.
The beautiful sandy beaches, local supermarket and many nice restaurants are a short drive away.
We will be returning to the villa again soon, as we always have a fantastic relaxing stay.

We have been visiting this villa for a few years now, returning because of its beautiful location, cleanliness and access to numerous eateries and local shops. We cannot recommend it enough.
The building itself is ample size for a family stay, with big comfortable beds, satellite television with a generally neat modern interior. The grounds are in perfect condition for soaking up the sun by the BBQ and having a dip in the clean and sizeable pool.
Shopping is not a problem, and one of my favourite restaurants in the world just round the corner. All easily accessible on short bike rides/walks.
We will keep returning as it’s hard to beat for a sun stay, especially for the local golf and the pleasant local pondering to the marina or beach fronts. Fantastic!

I have stayed here with friends on a golf holiday on several occasions. It’s a beautiful villa in very good condition located in a quiet village not far from the small town of Altura. It’s only a two minute drive to Altura and the coast and it would be possible walking. The villa has a downstairs bedroom and 3 upstairs. A spacious kitchen and a good sized lounge area with a dining table that seats 8.
The property itself is set between 2 similar single storey Villas and has an electric gate entry. The villa has an outdoor BBQ and a good sized swimming pool and the garden and pool are kept in good condition by a gardener.
There are several decent restaurants in Altura and a really nice restaurant called Antonio’s that served great local food a 5 minute drive away.
We had a hire car and played golf at Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, which are a 10 minute drive away and Monte Rei, a superb course not far away which although expensive is worth every penny. “

Stayed at this lovely villa with a group of friends and had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation was clean and spacious and had all of the facilities we required including a refreshing pool and bbq area - just right to cool off and relax at the end of the day. The location is away from the more commercial parts of the Algarve and the delightful old port of Vila Real de Santo Antonio is worth a visit. Altura itself is small but has a few nice restaurants but my favourite is Restaurant D. Rodrigo which is not in the town. Don’t be put off by the outside appearance - the food, service and value is exceptional. If you like golf there are a few good courses in the vicinity including the highly rated Monte Rei although it is quite expensive to play there. The other courses are reasonably priced. All in all it was just what we wanted and we plan to visit again in the future.
