Snapshot
Tropical Resort is a high-quality development and is just 300m from the lovely sandy beach of Santa Maria on the island of Sal. This unique complex features a lovely tropical garden together with a large free-form swimming pool and sun loungers. Although not right in the centre of the town, all the amenities are close by. The location is peaceful, but with the option of enjoying the bustling town centre just a short walk away.
Inside the property
The apartment comes fully furnished, with key central pieces of furniture made in beautiful Indian teak wood, quality Italian tiles, suspended sanitary fittings. There are also European high-quality windows, a safe and satellite TV. The apartment sleeps up to 6 people (including the sofa bed) and a cot can be made available for infants. There is an open plan living room, with large sofa, coffee table and TV together with dining table and chairs. The open plan kitchen has a gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave also everything needed for self-catering. It is wheelchair friendly and ideal for kids, families and the elderly.
Outside the property
The apartment is part of a complex of apartments together with a small hotel. The development is arranged in a C shape around the lovely tropical gardens and large free-form pool. The resort as a whole faces southwest and as a result it is protected from the prevailing northeast trade winds. You can also watch the sunset from the poolside. Our apartment is on the ground floor overlooking the gardens and pool. It faces southeast therefore you can sit outside on the terrace in the morning and enjoy the sunshine with your breakfast. There is an outside table and chairs for four people.
Amenities
The nearest beach to Tropical Resort is the Santa Maria main beach (3 minute walk). It has 8km of white sand, calm safe waters and ample restaurants and bars to relax and soak up the sunshine. Water sports galore are available for all ages and levels of ability. A ten minute walk to the west is Ponta Preta beach. This beach is known for it’s surfing and has bigger waves usually with an offshore wind consequently creating the perfect break. To the east, about a 25 minute walk is kite beach, located on a wild stretch of untouched wilderness. Here you can have a coffee or a beer in the restaurant, kite surf or paddle.
Close to Tropical Resort (2 minutes walk) there are three restaurants together with two mini-marts. One of the restaurants (Britannia/Bailey's) has free wifi. There is also a restaurant within the Tropical Resort hotel. As well as these mini markets there are two main supermarkets in the town. There you can expect to buy most of the things you would find in a European shop. Should you need it there is a medical centre a two minute walk away.
The town centre is just eight minutes on foot. It can be reached along the road or similarly along the promenade. Here you can find many bars and restaurants hence there is a good variety of food. Santa Maria is small enough to be explored on foot. The airport is about 20 mins away by taxi. Car hire is not essential in Sal, because there are many taxis. You will find taxis wherever you go and furthermore they are reasonably priced. If you wish to visit the capital Espargos, you can take the local alugar for about €2. If you feel like exploring the island you could also hire a quad bike or car, or arrange an island tour.
