INTRODUCTION
This lovely villa offers two bedrooms, a large living area/ kitchen, and a bathroom, two large sun patios, 48-inch TV, plus fibre-optic WiFi.

THE VILLA
Villa Abeja is bright, airy, tastefully decorated and situated on a small, quiet, desirable residential development, Los Abanicos, just south of Corralejo. It is freshly painted annually, and original Canarian art hangs on the walls.

The villa comprises one DOUBLE BEDROOM and one TWIN BEDROOM, a LIVING AREA with a dining table & chairs, sofa, all kitchen facilities and washing machine, and a BATHROOM with shower over bath, loo, basin and bidet.

There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms. The modern TV has a Firestick/ HDMI cable and access to all programmes if you use your VPN and log into the channels you subscribe to.

Outside are two large, sunny terraces. The ground-level SUN TERRACE is sheltered from the breeze, private with high walls, sofa and chairs, sun loungers, outdoor dining table with chairs, plants, artwork, and both shaded and sunny areas.

The spacious, curved ROOF TERRACE offers views over the malpaís (lava landscape) to the turquoise Atlantic and onto Lanzarote and Isla de Lobos, a lovely island just offshore (well worth a visit).

Views of Corralejo's own volcano, Volcan Bayuyo, are in the opposite direction, and are particularly good at dusk when the volcano is often silhouetted against the famous Fuerteventuran sunsets.

The roof terrace is great for morning coffee (sunrises over the ocean are often gorgeous too), an afternoon siesta or evening cocktails.

LOS ABANICOS is a small, private development. The forty villas are unusual in shape - curved like a fan, hence the name (abanico is Spanish for fan), with one villa attached to another i.e. semi-detached, making a fan shape, and the private sun terrace nestled in the centre. The gardens are well maintained and contain many lovely plants. Each villa is surrounded by its own space, with cacti, succulents, shady trees and flowering bushes planted among the picón (tiny lava pieces).

SWIMMING POOL
A thirty second walk down the paths, lined with Canarian plants, brings you to the pool, one of the most inviting in Corralejo. Twenty metres long, two metres at the deep end with steps into the shallows at the other.

There's a large mural on the pool-side wall showing Lanzarote and Los Lobos, the island off Corralejo, painted by a local artist. Plus a toddlers' pool with fountain for younger guests - or adult paddling! - and plenty of sun loungers, with showers and toilets.

As with almost all pools on the island it is not heated, but nonetheless is naturally warm enough to swim in for most of the year.

BEACHES
Fuerteventura has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world The island's famous dunes, particularly around Corralejo, offer kilometres of white (made from coral) sand and turquoise sea. Great for swimming, walking, sunbathing, and all water sports which FV is famous for.

LOCATION
Villa Abeja is in the north of Fuerteventura. It's the warmest and driest of the Canaries and, despite being just 100km west of the Sahara, and still part of Europe (the eight Canary islands are Spanish). The villa is just south of the old fishing town of Corralejo, which has something for everyone - areas for tourists with bars and clubs, a beautiful old port with narrow cobbled streets, excellent restaurants serving fresh fish, delicious tapas, and plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegans, plus two small white-sand beaches perfect for safe swimming, families, or just sunbathing with a good book and a locally made ice cream.

REACHING VILLA ABEJA

Hiring a car is recommended (DoYouSpain.com is the cheapest website usually). The villa is a half-hour drive from the airport, and within minutes drive of both Corralejo town centre and 'Flag Beach', the first of the many white-sand & turquoise sea beaches that comprise the Parque Natural de Corralejo.

Taxis/buses/hired bikes and electric scooters are all options too. Walking into town takes about 15 minutes. There are also restaurants and shops around us - this area just south of Corralejo is called 'Geofond'. Two huge supermarkets are 3' drive or 10' walk away, Mercadona and Lidl.

Parking is on the quiet road outside the main gate, with easy access and two sets of keys for your use. We can arrange for you to be met at the gate and shown to the Villa, if you wish, Please let Kate know once you have booked.

FOR GUESTS WHO ARE LESS MOBILE
Los Abanicos and Villa Abeja are wheelchair/mobility scooter -friendly. There is level access into Los Abanicos and all round the development, with only one tiny step (3cm) over the threshold into the villa.

The roof terrace is reached by the original spiral staircase which is steep and used at your own risk. Apologies - it is not accessible for those needing a wheelchair. The pool is reached by half-a-dozen stairs. There is an access ramp for wheelchairs, which can be used if arranged beforehand. Just ask!

RULES
We prefer non-smokers. Definitely no smoking in or around the property or on villa terraces, or around the pool.

The complex is a residential area and loud music is not permitted. Please be respectful of those around you if arriving home after a night out - or leaving early in the morning.

Four guests maximum, no hen or stag parties, nor groups aged under 21. Names and details of all coming to stay are required, please. This is a much-loved family retreat and we want all our visitors to respect, and enjoy, Villa Abeja as much as we do.

WEATHER
Fuerteventura is the driest and warmest of the Canary Islands according to 'The Traveller'. With more than 300 days of annual sunshine, it is a perfect year-round beach and holiday destination.

The Islands are Spanish-owned and the most southerly and hottest part of Europe, lying just 100km west of the southern tip of Morocco.

As the name implies it can be very windy, hence Fuerteventura's fame as a water sports destination, but also completely calm and, more usually, with a steady breeze ensuring the island feels wonderfully hot, but not unbearably so, in the summer.

Note: Even when cloudy/windy the summer UV is often well above 10 and you still tan beautifully. Or burn! Factor 30 sun lotion is essential.
