Villa Anna has been in the family for many many years. Originally built sometime before 1922, it eventually fell into disrepair. In 2000 we started on the task to fully renovate our home. After 4 long years of rebuilding, rewiring, plumbing and decorating we finally finished our complete rebuild and sympathetic renovation of our old family stone home. We feel that keeping the stone it has kept its old charm and period features and we have mixed this with some modern amenities to make the villa charming yet comfortable for your stay.

Being built from local stone some 100 years ago the villa is very cool during the Summer unlike modern block built villas. Obviously, in addition, we still have air conditioning for your total comfort.

The Villa has 2 good sized double bedrooms which are bright and airy, a good size living room, dining area with large table, and a large kitchen area again with another small table.

The main bathroom has a shower (with enclosure) and toilet. Additionally next to the pool there is an additional shower room with toilet.

There is also internet access via Wifi and the speed last year was on average around 7Mb and 1Mb upload.

The villa is set in quite substantial gardens for the island set out on different levels, surrounding three sides of the villa as we are on the side of the hill.

We have very old trees, a small lawned area, a vegetable garden, olive and almond trees, a terrace from the lounge overlooking the sea and nearby Assos and Assos castle. And of course the large pool area again with magical views over the sea, Assos and across the bay towards Zola.

We have a cleaner, Vera, who comes in twice a week to clean the villa and change all the towels and linen.

The swimming pool is cleaned and checked twice a week.

We also have a gardener that comes in regularly to water the plants and keep the gardens tidy.

Villa Anna feeds the soul - a beautiful home in a spectacular location

By Claire on 07-Sep-2018

We were lucky enough to enjoy a week at Villa Anna. Really, we reiterate the other glowing reviews; if you want to experience a truly special Kefalonian home in spectacular surroundings then Villa Anna grants a wealth of holiday wishes: 1. Spellbinding views: the photos look stunning but the reality is even better - what a privilege to absorb the huge landscape and skies, the changing light over hypnotic seas. 2. Idyllic pool and gardens: fig and olive trees, abundant flowers - all well-maintained by George. I could never tire of the view from the pool. A variety of lovely spots to sit in with a glass of wine or G&T! 3. A very thoughtful and attentive (but not intrusive) owner: there's a nurturing warmth to Villa Anna which comes from the love Anna has poured into the place. From the minute you arrive and are greeted by the most wonderful spread of Anna's homecooked cakes, pies and preserves, you feel the 'and...relax' that only the best holidays achieve so instantly. Anna could not have done more to ensure our stay was everything we wanted - I'm so glad to have spoken with Anna and stayed in her home. 4. Rest and relaxation: part of the reason for our stay was for me to recover from illness and the villa is so peaceful and private it's the ideal environment to recharge your batteries (it really is food for the soul) but equally... 5. It's also a great base to explore nearby Fiskardo and Assos: you'll find really good restaurants, three supermarkets and some nice gift shops in the lovely town of Fiskardo - but avoid 1-3pm in high season as this is when the boats drop off lots of tourists for a whistle-stop tour. Asso, which the villa overlooks, is enchanting, really special. Go early (we arrived about 8.30am) if you want a parking space in the town and to avoid the coaches on the 'exciting' road! And take your swimsuit - the sea there is irresistible. Taverna Veggera is also a short drive (couple mins along the road to Fiskardo, on the left) from Villa Anna and has a terrace with stunning sea views - dinner with a sunset you won't forget. We've stayed in some luxurious and unique holiday rentals in various locations but Anna has created the kindness of a real home for her guests and that, along with those magical views, meant we did not want to leave. Thank you Anna.

Fabulous Villa! a must for sunset lovers!

By Fiona on 02-Aug-2018

Having spent time researching where to stay on the island it paid off as Villa Anna and the location were just perfect! The views and the setting are just incredible... the pool and again the views just stunning! The Villa itself so charming and beautifully decorated reflecting the local destination - everything we needed it had. Anna is so lovely to deal with and having Vera (amazing Cook who left us two meals!) was such a bonus. To wake in the morning and pick your own figs for breakfast and enjoy her home made jams and honey made our stay feel very special. Having the excellent Veggera Taverna 1k away was another bonus and again set with amazing views from their terrace. For anyone wanting a true Greek experience - Villa Anna is the place for you. Beach wise we went to Assos (15mins) Myrtos (20 Mins) Emblisi 20 mins all lovely. Views from the villa below along with a shot of Assos

Idyllic Villa, Generous Host, Perfect Location

By Tripper1 on 01-Jul-2018

We've stayed in many quality villas on many Greek Islands, and Anna and her lovely Villa epitomise everything we love about Greece and the Greek people. Firstly Anna's amazing generosity and hospitality, not just in providing a delicious meal on our arrival (with a candle lit table already laid out - such a thoughtful touch) and so many wonderful provisions , including an excellent bottle of the local wine; but also in the many ways she offered to help with our travel schedule and accommodated our requirements. Then the Villa itself, traditionally and tastefully decorated, and a proper home with every utensil and convenience you could want for an enjoyable stay, set in a magnificent country garden with flowers, fruit trees, vines and vegetables; and with a very large pool area offering total privacy and magical views. And finally the perfectly peaceful location, set high on the hills on the west coast, overlooking Assos and its castle, and with outstanding sunset views, yet only a minute from the main coast road, 3-4 minutes from "Vegera" Taverna which serves excellent food and has music on Tuesday and Saturday, and an easy 20 minutes drive to Kefalonia's prettiest and best resort Fiskardo, where "Elli's" Restaurant offers high quality dining on the waters edge An outstanding experience, and very highly recommended.

A stunning place to stay, and so much more than just a villa

By Pete on 19-Mar-2018

We searched for a long time to find somewhere in Kefalonia, and luckily we eventually found Villa Anna. As other reveiwers have mentioned, it is a beautiful villa set on a huge plot with extensive gardens and orchards, and fantastic views out over the bay and the picturesque town of Assos. Kothreas itself is a small village near Fiscardo, and Villa Anna is in an idyllic setting. The pictures on the website are great, but being here is much more special. The house and gardens are extremely well maintained, and Anna encourages everyone to help themselves to the figs, grapes and other produce from the gardens and orchards. Anna also very kindly made a host of food to welcome us - a delicious moussaka, traditional cheese pie, cake and savoury biscuits, and also asked that we help ourselves to the homemade honey and jams in the fridge. Everyone we met was extremely kind, generous and helpful. The house itself is a beautiful home, not another bland holiday rental; very welcoming and very well equipped. As soon as you arrive you feel at home, and can relax into your vacation. We spent many hours in the pool, or chilling on the terrace looking out over the bay, as well as travelling around the island to see some other beautfiul ports like Fiscardo, Assos and Agia Efemia. There are many great tavernas on the island, and Anna has been very helpful in suggesting places to go and to eat. Tassia in Fiscardo is excellent, and one of our favourite tavernas, Vegera, is only 2 minutes drive away - fantastic food, live entertainment and a warm welcome. It is not often you find reviews which are all '5 star' - Villa Anna is a superb place to stay, a beautiful home from home and the welcome you get from Anna herself and Stayros and Vera will make your holiday that bit more special. It is a real gem and I would recommend it to anyone.

Home from home in an idyllic location

By Jane on 05-Mar-2018

Villa Anna is in a beautiful peaceful location with idyllic views, looking down on the splendid coastline and the castle at Assos. The very attractive town of Fiskardo is within a short drive, however the villa with it's lovely pool and gardens makes it tempting not to leave. Something which added greatly to our holiday was the fact that Villa Anna is a home from home, not standard soulless holiday accommodation,- you feel you are a guest in someone's home a feeling we had from the outset, being greeted with delicious homemade food, jams and produce and an invitation to help ourselves to anything growing in the garden. We had a wonderful holiday and can't wait for the chance to return.

Peace and Tranquility with amazing views

By Dawn on 02-Mar-2018

We have just spent another amazing two weeks at Anna's wonderful villa in Kothreas. When looking for our holiday this year we all decided that there was no where else we would rather spend our break. The villa is comfortable and like visiting a home from home. It is in the most fabulous setting high up on the island with amazing sunsets every evening, a little cooler than the very hot beaches in the height of summer with a lovely pool and beautiful garden. The fridge is full of delicious treats homemade by Anna who cannot do enough to please her visitors. You are ideally situated for visiting the North of the Island with beaches and tavernas just a short drive away. We will definitely return again. The Clements family

Lovely house in great location with pool and spectacular views

By Ascot on 16-Feb-2018

Our family has stayed in many different villas in many different European countries, but Villa Anna is very special indeed. It sits on a hillside with fantastic views over the spectacular north west coast of Kefalonia. The house is situated at the edge of a small hamlet, but it offers complete privacy and is set in beautiful terraced gardens. Villa Anna is clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The couple who live in the neighbouring house look after Villa Anna for the owner. They are there to offer help in whatever way they can and they ensure that everything is as you would wish it to be. The pool, with underwater lighting, is situated right by the house so refreshing dips can be enjoyed at any time. Best of all are the wonderful views. To sit on the balcony drinking a glass of wine and watching the sun slowly setting into the sea is a memory to be treasured. You will need a car to access the many lovely beaches and tavernas that are a short drive from the house. The nearby town of Fiskardo is delightful and provides all that you need by way of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Its Venetian architecture survived the terrible earthquake of 1953 and its picturesque harbour is crammed full of yachts. Assos, which sits on the coast below the villa, is a very pretty spot where one can enjoy a drink, a meal and a swim. Finally I must mention Anna Banou, the owner of the villa. You could not wish for anyone more considerate and helpful. She really strives to meet all your needs and to ensure that your visit is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. I cannot recommend this villa too highly.

Excellent villa in idyllic location with amazing views

By Beejay on 14-Feb-2018

We chose this villa for its views of the sunsets, but it has so much more. To start with the villa itself – it’s a home, not a place, purpose-built for holiday rental. There’s a fascinating collection of ornaments, family photos and a teddy bear sitting on the back of one of the settees. Treats cooked by the owner are there for you to enjoy. Crockery, cutlery and glasses are there in plenty and we’ve never found so many tea-towels before at a holiday villa. Then the sunsets - they were different every evening. The sun seems to drop out of view fairly quickly, occasionally it disappeared behind clouds and was gone. But often its rays lit up the clouds on the horizon with a variety of ever changing colours - oranges and golds. Sometimes the lightshow stretched across the entire horizon and seemed to last for ages. But the daytime views can be just as spectacular, particularly in the morning as the sun rises over the mountains behind you and illuminates the white cliffs across the bay. A word of warning– there’s a price to pay for such magnificent views. You are up around 450m above sea level and whilst the weather forecast for Kefalonia airport promised us minimum temperatures in the mid-twenties, it can feel a lot cooler than that if there’s a breeze and you’re out watching the sunset. So it’s still worth taking a lightweight-fleece or two. A very short drive from the villa takes you to a mini-market and Makis – a highly recommended restaurant. Larger mini-markets are in the next village and there are two super markets in Fiskardo, less than 20 minutes’ drive away. The swimming pool at Villa Anna is a really good size and there are plenty of beaches with wonderfully clear water to swim from not too far away as well. We thoroughly recommend it.

Views to die for!

By Iwona on 13-Feb-2018

Welcomed by amazing spread of homemade treats, cakes, pie made by Anna plus wine to wash it all down with was a beginning of a wonderful stay at Anna’s Villa. The villa itself had a lovely homely feel. It was clean, sheets and towels changed twice a week, lovely good size pool also cleaned twice a week and views to die for! Sun-downers whilst watching the sunset and almost no light pollution so star gazing was incredible. Anna, although not based on the island, was very helpful and a fantastic hostess, excellent communication, could not do enough to make everything perfect for us, I left the villa feeling like I have gained a friend. The location is fantastic, based on the North of the island it was only short drive to Assos, Fiskardo, many good local shops, tavernas/restaurants and beaches. Perfect quiet spot to relax. Car is a must as lots to explore. Thank you, Anna, I am hoping to come back soon! Iwona xx

Breathtaking views and perfect peaceful private location near Fiskardo

By The Collises on 13-Feb-2018

Just back from a fabulous week at Villa Anna. It is more beautiful than the photos show and everything everyone has already said in the other reviews is all true! Thank you Anna for the homemade mousaka, cookies and delicious jams. Incredible views, lovely gardens and total privacy, peace and quiet! Easy to get to Fiskardo for evening meals (15 mins drive) and there are lovely local tavernas on the beaches and at Assos. Brilliant place to stay to explore the north of Kefalonia. We hired a small boat in Fiskardo, walked up to Assos Fort and snorkelled in the local bays. Perfect holiday and Anna and Nezi could not be more helpful.

“Perfect villa and location for a relaxing holiday”

By CristianoFitzo on 08-Feb-2018

We had a 14 night stay at Villa Anna in Kothreas at the end of September. Along with everyone else, we loved the location and setting, being perched up on the mountain side overlooking Assos in a very tranquil and peaceful setting and being West facing getting the last of the sun and some spectacular sunsets. Again as others have commented both Anna and Nezi next door couldn't be more helpful and are a delight. The welcome pack is both delicious and enormous. We told Anna we don't eat meat so had an abundance of vege offerings, fruit, wine, bread, milk and various savoury items along with her homemade jam. We ourselves run a luxury holiday cottage business in Cornwall so we sort of expect to find similar to what we provide and the villa didn't disappoint. Ok, there are some Greek specific things that are a little different to what we would get back home, but that aside the place villa was perfect. It is nice it is, as others pointed out, a home as opposed to a holiday home with nice personal touches inside. The pool, although very cold at this time of year, is a very nice size and depth and has great views. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Kefalonia with Assos only 10 mins away and Fiskardo just 15 mins. Being a little higher up, the temp was that little bit lower, which was nice, and also less mosquitos than further down the mountain. This was our 4th time on the island and the best place we've stayed in by far. If we went back for a 5th time, we'd be sure to contact Anna to stay again. Thank you for such a lovely holiday and hope to return someday.
