The Almonds - by Jules
"One of Gozo’s most luxurious holiday homes sits quietly in the mostly rural west side of the island waiting to give you the most memorable Gozo break.
It starts just inside the front door where light from the terrace doors magnifies the living room. Beyond is a peaceful vista of gardens and countryside.
The Almonds’ footprint has been expertly designed to capitalise on a glorious south west facing elevation. As such a generous pool large patio terrace and surrounding gardens have been purposely crafted to take advantage of views towards Dwejra Bay (you just have to see it). A pretty trellis and outdoor dining suite complete the picture. Finished to an exceptional standard with the superior furnishings and facilities you’d expect from Jules Gozo Holidays. Discover and indulge in a real treasure and holiday experience at the Almonds" Jules.
PROPERTY DETAILS
It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over Dwejra.
Like its sister property next door (The Olives) you get a lot of holiday home for your money at The Almonds.
Every room is designed on a generous scale from the comfort of the open plan living area (with hi-fi DVD player flat screen TV with cable Wi-Fi and PlayStation) to the modern farmhouse kitchen with its units finished in rustic Mediterranean red.
The kitchen has everything you’ll need for the most ambitious recipes while the long dining room that connects the lounge and kitchen boasts a dining table that seats 8.
We also love the floor to ceiling arched windows that run the length of the room providing pretty terrace views wherever you’re sat or stood.
The first bedroom is on the ground floor off the hall. This spacious room has a double bed and en-suite shower room and double doors that open onto the lounge.
The remaining 3 bedrooms are on the first floor. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have twin beds and walk in en-suite showers - and bedroom 2’s shower is finished with gorgeous marble tiles.
Bedroom 4 is an impressive master bedroom. Well apportioned it has a double bed and large walk-in wardrobe with plenty of shelves shoe racks and drawer space. A luxurious ‘his and hers’ bathroom is opposite including twin sinks a walk-in shower a freestanding bath a toilet and bidet. Large windows reveal a second patio terrace perfectly positioned for the sun and overlooking the garden and pool terrace.
LOCATION: San Lawrenz
San Lawrenz is another charming and traditional village. It lies in the westerly part of the Island not far from Dwegra Ban and Ta’Dbiegi Craft Village. Built on a plane this picturesque village is surrounded by three hills: Ta' Dbiegi (at 195 metres above sea level this is Gozo's highest point) Ta' Ghammar and Ta' Gelmus. You will find here the unlikely contrast of a typically rural lifestyle and nurtured village traditions against the five star luxury of the Kempinski San Lawrenz Hotel on the village outskirts.
Interestingly San Lawrenz is one of only two sites named after their patron saint (the other being Santa Lucija in Ta' Kercem). Before the village was established as a parish on 15 March 1893 it was known as Ta' Cangura. This earlier name dates back beyond Gozo’s worst siege in history where in1551 most of the inhabitants were enslaved by the Ottoman Turks. At that time San Lawrenz formed part of Gharb’s parish though San Lawrenz villagers longed for their own parish church and community. Finally achieving parish status in 1893 the locals were so delighted apparently that they set straight to work building their new church with great enthusiasm. The village feast of San Lawrenz falls in the first week of August.
The closest beach Dwejra is just 2 km away and there is also a food store just 1 km from the house. 'Tatitas' Restaurant is a good find in the main village square just 500 metres away from the villa. Not far from the food store is another restaurant Jeffrey's. Alternatively, venture 3.5 km into the main town of Victoria and enjoy the many bars cafe's restaurants and shops it has to offer.
There is a private garage.
