INTRODUCING TAN NANNA - By Jules
"You get an immediate feel for Tan Nanna’s warmth and charm as you open the door of this Gozo holiday home. Local stone forms the walls and arches of the lounge. Oak beams add character throughout. And the light from the pool terrace draws you to the rear of the farmhouse where terrace doors fold back to make the outdoors a part of the open plan kitchen.
I particularly loved the marble effect kitchen worktops and the large farmhouse table with matching finish. Classic (and an idea I’ve now stolen!).
Outside high walls of local stone give the pool added privacy while the terrace is a great place for al fresco dining. I particularly love the local limestone mosaics - they add bags of character. I can image making some great family memories here.
As for the sleeping accommodation you’ll find its five bedrooms spread over two additional floors just as charming as the rest of it.
Tan Nanna is a Gozo holiday home full of rustic charm – the perfect spot for a relaxing Gozo break". Jules
The delightful open plan lounge dining room and kitchen are connected by arches of local stone that help give this Gozo holiday farmhouse bags of character.
The lounge includes two three-seater settees cable TV a DVD player and Wi-Fi.
A log burning stove sits in an attractive stone fire surround. In the warmer months the lounge makes a cool retreat from the sun. In winter that log burner makes for Tan Nanna a cosy escape.
Wander through a door to the right of the lounge and you’ll find a wee gem of a space for total indulgence.
The Jacuzzi* takes pride of place in a room of stone and traditional tiles.
It’s a wonderful spot for a champagne get together whilst the BBQ is getting to temperature.
The homely kitchen has a large farmhouse table as its centrepiece. There’s enough room for everyone and when you open the terrace doors it’s almost as though you’re on the pool terrace. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you’d expect including a dishwasher.
The limestone stairs are typical of a traditional Gozo holiday farmhouse. They lead to the first floor where you will find Bedroom 1 with its twin beds and en-suite shower room.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed with an en-suite shower also. Bedroom 3 is particularly spacious – it’s a great family room with four single beds - and the blue painted furniture gives this room an unmistakeable Mediterranean feel. There’s a large en-suite bathroom with shower and a balcony overlooking the pool.
Take another stone staircase to the second floor you will find bedrooms 4 and 5. Both are en-suite. Bedroom 4 has a grey wrought iron bed and lovely mahogany furniture. Bedroom 5 is spacious with twin beds.
The high walls that surround the pool of this Gozo holiday farmhouse make it a wonderfully private spot for swimming. On the terrace sunbeds a rattan dining table and chairs give everyone plenty of opportunity to spend their Gozo holiday outdoors. A handy outdoor kitchen preparation unit means you don’t have to keep ferrying food from kitchen to BBQ (although as it’s right next door that’s hardly a trial).
Xaghra is home to the Gantija Temples, a unique prehistoric site and the oldest standing structures in the world. Together with the burial grounds nearby they’re a magnet for historians and archaeologists and a must-visit on your Gozo holiday.
Tan Nanna is in the very popular village of Xaghra. The main square is fringed by some wonderful restaurants and there’s a warm well-established café atmosphere that makes an evening stroll followed by great food an experience you’ll want to repeat again and again throughout your Gozo holiday. The square is just 1.2km away from your Gozo holiday farmhouse. Xaghra is just a short distance from the island’s main summer resort of Marsalforn with its excellent swimming spots restaurants bars and bustling summer crowds.
The nearest bus stop is just 105 metres away. Catch bus No. 307 for Victoria and Bus No. 322 for Marsalforn.
