INTRODUCING TA RENA - By Jules
"Even the entrance of Ta Rena will blow you away. The strong broad archways of local stone are a reassuring presence throughout the cottage and when you follow the limestone staircase to the pool terrace you’ll be met with the most spectacular view.
Ta Rena boasts one of the best vantage points in all of Gozo with panoramic views of the countryside from the pool and roof top terraces yet it’s just a short stroll to the bars shops and restaurants of Nadur.
You’ll fall in love with the place instantly – which is exactly what we did. Ta Rena (named after my mum) was the Gozo holiday farmhouse that launched Jules’ Gozo Holidays. It’s our flagship holiday home and it’s just as warm and welcoming as it’s always been". Jules
Bedrooms 2 & 3 lead from the wide stone entrance. Both are double bedrooms one with a double bed; the other with 2 single beds. There’s a bathroom off the entranceway too.
At the top of a wide stone staircase is the open plan living area with comfy lounge sofas dining table and a kitchen well-equipped for the keen self-caterer. Large shutter-style windows open out to the pool bringing Ta Rena’s spectacular views indoors.
The master bedroom is on the first floor with an en-suite bathroom.
Here you will find the 4th bedroom with the huge benefit of panoramic countryside views from outside on the roof terrace. A private entrance to the roof terrace for other guests makes this a self-contained delight with a bathroom ensuite.
Step out from the living area to the terrace with its pool and seating area and admire the spectacular views. The barbecue makes an ideal excuse to spend the day at base while a shower room is handy for the pool and upper roof terrace reached by a second stone staircase.
LOCATION; Nadur Village:
Nadur is Gozo's second-largest village spread out over the top of a plateau. Nadur “nadir” means to “keep guard” and much of the island and beyond can be seen from the village. Nadur has a huge church dedicated to apostles Saints Peter and Paul with the foundation stone laid as far back as 1760. The church is entirely covered in marble. Paintings on the dome and ceiling by Lazzaro Pisami recreate images from the life of Peter and Paul. The church is believed to be Gozo’s best baroque architectural masterpiece. It also owns the Gozo Maritime Museum off the village square.
The feast of Nadur – Mnarja – is celebrated on 29th June every year. A carnival atmosphere buzzes with colorful illuminations fireworks music band processions and dancing. Nadur is also the fruit growing district of the island. It plays host to the annual Delicata Wine Festival. Nearby is Gozo's largest sandy bay Ir-Ramla and the small coves of Dahlet Qorrot and San Blas - perfect for snorkeling.
