“Looking beyond a small local stone archway of the carport, we find double entrance doors of Mediterranean blue. As so many times before, I just muse at the idea of what lies beyond as we arrive in the courtyard. Cute and quirky, this quaint property has so many nooks and crannies. Its original authenticity has been carefully reinvented to offer a lovely period home of excellent finish.

The farmhouse courtyard retains its original external steps to the first-floor bedrooms which sit above the honey limestone arches featured through the lounge. A cottage style kitchen and dining area open out to a delightful pool and terrace. Oleandra is so picturesque outside with its blue painted wooden shutters opened from internal windows and doors. Immediately adjacent to the farmhouse is an annex with entirely separate access to a further two bedrooms on two levels. Immediate thoughts? ‘Positively quintessential’.

Property Detail

Ground Floor:

The lounge provides a comfortable haven with views to the pool and terrace. From here you find the combined and well-equipped kitchen with dining table. Double doors let in sunlight and reflect blue shades of the pool.

Via the external staircase from the courtyard entrance, you will find Bedroom 1 with a double bed and Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Both have an ensuite bathroom.

In the separate 2 storey annex, there are two additional double bedrooms. Bedroom 3 is reached by an external stone staircase and benefits from a private balcony overlooking the pool. It comes with a large bathroom. On the annex ground floor, you will find the fourth bedroom with double bed and served by the family bathroom across the courtyard (not ensuite).


The outside benefits from a private pool with surrounding terrace and shrubs. Here, you will enjoy sunbeds for sunbathing with an outside dining table and chairs. There is an umbrella which is in addition to the protective awning that offers shade over outside dining furniture.

A stone-built BBQ blends in neatly in the entrance courtyard – a necessary ingredient for any Gozo villa holiday.

If you take the Victoria-Gharb road to the Aqueduct and fork right you will find the smallest village on the island nestled between the hills of iz-Zebbug and Ghammar.

The village of Ghasri sits amongst the fields and valleys of rural Gozo near to Victoria’s commanding Citadel and close to one of the best swimming spots on the island. Worthy of a stop is Tal Gordan a flat-topped hill with an iconic lighthouse. At 180 metres above sea level the Lighthouse towers over the village and stands proudly on top of Gurdan Hill. Inaugurated in 1853 the Lighthouse’ beam could be seen as far as 50 kilometres away so affords a fantastic 360 degree view when you get there. It’s a must for ramblers.

From Ghasri village square a road leads to the fabulous valley of Wied l-Ghasri 2.3km away from your Gozo holiday farmhouse. The Wied l-Ghasri area is a marvellous place for country walks or rewarding cycle rides especially in winter and spring. The valley ends at the sea wedged between high cliffs where a secluded inlet makes an ideal spot for swimming snorkeling and together with the sea surrounding it a very popular spot for diving.

On the way be sure to stop at the charming old chapel dedicated to the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The two shallow bays of Xwejni and Qbajjar are both 4.1 Km away. Next to each other they have small pebbly beaches and rocky stretches that lead to clear blue water. Excellent for swimming they are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and are popular with divers especially beginners. You’ll also find a few fishing boats here and a couple of bars and restaurants on the sea front.

The feast of Ghasri is celebrated on the first or second Sunday in June and is dedicated to Corpus Christi. Victoria has two big feasts one in the third week of July and the other on 15 August.

Nearest swimming spot is Dwejra bay 4km away from the property Ramla beach can be reached in just 7 km. You will find a food store 800 meters from the property.

The closest Restaurant is Ta Salvina a 1 km walk. The capital Victoria is 3.5 km away.

The 308 bus will bring you to the centre of Victoria where you will find a wide range of shops cafes bars and restaurants - and a wealth of history.


Parking. There is only space for 1 small car. Given the property is in a narrow alley, only loading and unloading can be done in front of the property. Cars are asked to park outside the alley around 80 meters walk.

All rooms are equipped with Air Conditioning units operated by an electronic coin box on a pay as you use basis (€1 & €2 coins). A screen displays the credit remaining with each AC unit consuming approximately € 2 per night.

Prices exclude the Malta Eco Tax – a requirement by Maltese law to be collected from all guests on arrival. This applies to those age 18 and over and consists of €0.50c per person for each night’s stay, to a maximum of €5 per person for each continuous stay. This is paid in Euro currency only and will be collected by the owner on check-in.
