Kalligata: Villa Heliades is located on the edge of the pretty village of Kalligata in the exclusive Leviathos region in the south of Kefalonia. The beautiful views from the front of the villa are of olive groves & cypress trees out to the Ionian Sea. Kalligata itself is a small well maintained traditional village, with attractive gardens, a small mini-market, and a small children’s play area. The closest beach is Avithos; 1.6km from the villa by road. Whilst you can walk to the beach, save some energy for the walk back up to the villa! There is parking at the beach, which has two nice tavernas & a beach bar. The beach is popular with the Greek locals, but rarely busy, unlike some of the larger beaches around Lassi. Kalligata is about 15 minutes drive from the capital, Argostoli, where you can find good restaurants, harbour side bars & tavernas, internet cafe, and a range of shopping to suit every taste. The hospital is also very good. A lovely harbour town with a wonderful, friendly atmosphere
Kefalonia: The largest of the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia is unspoilt, with a varied, beautiful landscape. The island is very friendly, with a nice atmosphere wherever you go. The beaches are good, the sea usually impossibly blue, particularly on the west coast of the island, and the hospitality in the wealth of tavernas, bars & restaurants is warm & genuine. (Even our fussy daughters love the local food). There is walking for the adventurous with great views from Mount Ainos, and a host of beautiful villages for those that like to explore. The Melissani Lake, the beautiful old port of Fiscado, the caves at Drogarti and neighbouring Ithaca provide excellent trips out for the holiday maker. Don't forget to take lots of tomatoes to feed the giant loggerhead turtles in the harbour. You can take dolphin spotting boat trips from Argostoli & conservation boat trips from Fiscardo. Boat trips to neighbouring Ithika are also very popular. The snorkelling at locations all around the island is excellent.
Getting to Kefalonia: We can recommend websites for the most effective cost direct charter flights from various UK airports.
Out of season, there are currently no direct flights, but you can travel via Athens.

Our third visit to Villa Heliades, and definitely not our last
Another fantastic holiday in kefalonia, the villa is in a superb location on a quiet lane in a traditional village. Inside and outside the villa has everything you could wish for, the views, the pool, and lovely rooms. Ideally located just a very short drive to various good beaches, restaurants and shops. We will definitely return !

A lovely 2 bedroom apartment with fantastic views, we had a super holiday here last July. A car is essential but the island is never too busy . Handy for the airport, great beaches nearby, especially Avithos and Makris Gialos. Looking forward to returning in July this year and we are staying in this apartment again ! Would recommend!

First class accommodation with stunning views
By Carol Passmore on 06-Feb-2017
My husband and I have been comimg to Kefalonia every year since 2003 and stayed in various apartments in Scala but in 2008 we found Villa Heliades and have stayed here every year since, sometimes twice a year. it is a beautiful villa, so well equipped its like going from home to home, very comfortable and with stunning views. It stands in a lovely quiet residential area so you will not get bothered with passing traffic or tourists. The surrounding gardens are attractive and colourful with private pool and such a relaxing atmosphere. It's also a good central base to visit all corners of the island, only 10 minutes to the airport and approx 20 minutes to the main town of Argostoli. Tony & Trudi Hodges, the owners of the villa are very pleasant and helpful and have equipped the villa to a very high standard, you want for nothing. In 2014 my husband passed away but I have still kept coming out as it has a lot of happy memories and will be here again in May. I can guarantee anyone who vists Villa Heliades for the first time will be back again and again.

Villa Heliades a beautiful place to stay
By Anonymous on 30-Jun-2015
As described Villa Heliades is situated 15 minutes drive from Argostoli airport. Tucked away in a traditional Kefalonian village. It has uninterrupted panoramic views across the plain below and the Ionian Sea. The apartment is well equipped, clean, with good 'wi-fi' connection and within an easy drive of three major supermarkets. A welcome pack comprising basic essentials is waiting for you on arrival.A housekeeping service is provided as well as a regular pool maintenance service. Cleaners not only see to the housekeeping needs but are very willing to give local information and recommendations about places to visit or eat. There is a local service representative who can be contacted to deal with any questions or issues arising during your stay. We have stayed at Villa Heliades a number of times and have never been disappointed or let down by any of the facilities or services. It provides a convenient base for travel right across the Island. Sami, Anti-Samos and Scala in the SE; Fiscardo and Assos in the North. The local resort of Lassi is the closest of the main resorts on the Island. Here there are a host of restaurants to choose from and three main beaches with many water sport activities. However, within 5 minutes drive of the Villa there are several beautiful, quieter local beaches and tavernas providing a friendly service. Avathos, AiHelios and Ammes beaches are the most local. From the back bedroom of the apartment there is a view of the summit of Mount Ainos. This year it was possible to take the hire-car right to the summit, without fear of damage, using a new road built into the mountainside. Previously the only way up was a long walk up steep tracks or a 'white knuckle' ride in a 4x4 vehicle. (Access is via the old road off the main route between Argostoli and Sami.). Tony and Trudi pride themselves in providing an excellent service for users of the Villa. A read through the guest book provides numerous independent references to happy holidays. We thoroughly recommend the Villa to anyone who wants a 'hastle-free' holiday whether you have been to Kefalonia before or not. With the Villa providing more than satisfactory accommodation the main choices become where to go and where to eat; chill-out by the pool or go explore the Island. Enjoy.......we did!
