Description

Sharing the same wooded, shady garden and swimming pool as Casa Serena (P257340), the Garden Guest House is a sleek, modernist holiday home offering stupendous views (and less torrid temperatures than at sea level) for walkers and sybarites alike. Located inside the Madonia regional park, the park's mountains soar above the house, while the green valley plunges below... and the view across to the town of Polizzi Generosa, perched on its rocky ridge, is spectacular. Located right alongside the swimming pool, this compact, stylish home is well-insulated against the heat and has two en suite bedrooms for 3 adults or a couple and 1 or 2 children. Its living/dining area, with two pairs of French windows, opening onto the shady terrace, has a well-equipped kitchen with cooker, microwave, coffee-maker, fridge and capacious cupboards.

When guests are not relaxing in the shady garden or swimming in the scenic pool, the house offers more energetic activities, with ease of access to the walking trails of the Madonia mountains (maps and guide books supplied). Some walking routes even start at the front gate. Or alternatively guests can enjoy cultural days out visiting the historic Greek, Roman, Norman or Arab sites for which Sicily is renowned. The beaches of the north coast can be reached in 50 minutes... and the lovely resort of Cefalu, with its splendid Norman cathedral and lively night life is only an hour away.

The Garden Guest House is available from May 1 until October 31; rentals range from £85 to £135 per night, depending on the starting date (3 nights minimum rental). The house can be booked with Casa Serena (P257340) to sleep 8/9 – minimum 7 days, mid-July to mid-September @ £3200 per week.

Fantastic gem in Sicilian Countryside

Fantastic gem in the countryside, pure peace and quiet away from the world. Carl and Sylvie are the most generous hosts and nothing is too much. Poppy and Rosa the donkeys are great fun for the children to feed and the swimming pool is a welcome escape from the heat. We had a lovely week exploring the countryside, hiking, visiting ancient monuments and eating and drinking far too much, just what everybody needs to reset in this busy, modern world. A Little Piece of Paradise

For us, Casa Serena was truly a little piece of paradise. With stunning views, a magical pool and garden, it is tucked away near the special hilltop town of Polizzi Generosa, which we also fell in love with. Perfect if you’re looking for an authentic experience away from the trodden tourist path, but close enough to explore the coast and Palermo when you want. Carl and Sylvie are always on hand to help. Casa Serena is a Delight

Casa Serena is a delight. Deep in the Madonie Mountains and close by the remarkable small town of Polizzi Generosa, it offers striking beauty, excellent accommodation (the three of us were in the Garden Room - small but perfectly formed) and superb hosts. The photographs do not lie - if anything they understate - but what they don''t show is the unobtrusive care of Carl and Sylvie for their guests and their obvious love for Casa Serena revealed in their own house and lovely garden. The slightly hairy drive up to the house is fully rewarded by all the wonders of Casa Serena. Go again? For sure!
