Wonderful place

By Jamet M. on 25-Sep-2019

This was a wonderful place to stay. House was fully equipped and our welcome basket was over and above anything we expected. House was very clean and spacious with a lovely patio for outside dining. Large pool in a quiet, sheltered garden. Debbie and Bob were outstanding hosts.

Great villa, lovely location

By John B. on 03-Sep-2019

The villa was well presented with an excellent, well maintained pool.

The sea is a 50m walk away. There are sandy stretches as well as a reef which is great for snorkelling.

The countryside to the West is ideal for gentle cycle rides.

Simply Wonderful!

By Debbie G. on 19-Jun-2019

Stayed for 10 days at the end of June and wished it could have been longer! This is a fantastic Villa with everything (and more) you could possibly need. Even the beds are comfortable which in our experience is a rarity! The Welcome Pack on arrival is superb, particularly the meatballs and Debbie's Orangello (very potent). Debbie and Bob are fantastic hosts and made us feel like family. Their knowledge of the area is invaluable .. lots of tips for places to see and restaurants to visit. We particularly enjoyed the heated pool .. none of that having to psyche yourself up to get in it in the morning! As we are all cat lovers if was so nice to have visits from all the beautiful cats that Debbie and Bob have rescued and take such good care of. I so wanted to bring Bonnie home with me! Also loved the shady area by the outside bar with the hammock. It was extremely hot while we were there and this was a perfect place to relax with a book.
The Villa is an easy walk to several good restaurants and plenty of local shops nearby to replenish stocks.
We would just like to say a huge thank you to Debbie and Bob for making our holiday extra special and hope to be back again before too long!

Family holiday

By Sue D. on 25-May-2019

A lovely villa and pool, with nice owners who were helpful with queries. Our stay was enjoyable even though the area was a little lacking of places to eat or to buy provisions without using the car. We eventually found a garage with a shop and pizzeria and a baru002Frestaurant close by and the local bakeryu002Fdeli was fab. Maybe later in June there's more available close by. The locals were so friendly and helped enormously with my pigeon Italian! Our biggest problem was using keys to the outer door of the villa - there's a knack to getting them into the lock and we struggled here abd there with this. Also the extremely slow filter water tap for cooking and drinking. We got used to it and I filled everything first thing in the morning to save time during the day. I love real coffee and the villa had a really good expresso machine. Unfortunately it took a while to master and time to get enough coffee for a full mug . A cafetiere would be great for the villa I think for those guests who want a large cup! Anything else we needed was there in abundance as the villa was very well stocked. The many and varied cats were lovely, and very well behaved. So much so that my grown up son and his partner wanted to take a couple home!
Lovely relaxing stay overall.

This house has it all!

By Madeline R. on 04-May-2019

The villa was well equipped for cooking, reading, lounging or even games on a rainy day. Debbie and Bob were always available for questions and suggestions. Since the weather was a little cool when we were there, we did a lot of sightseeing trips to the nearby towns of Alberobello, Lecce, Ostuni, Otranto and a few more. We also enjoyed the cooking school day and our trips into the market at Casalabate and walks to the nearby villages. Great house, great hosts and a great trip. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Sehr gute Unterkunft. Sehr, sehr liebe Gastgeber.

By Martina F. on 07-Oct-2018

Perfect Peaceful Pretty

By David Grindrod on 18-Aug-2018

We had a wonderful 4 weeks at Casa Mare with Bob and Debbie. The pool is glorious a constant 29c so lovely to swim in. The welcome pack was the best we have ever had and the house was spacious and clean.
.The area is rugged and there are two fun villagesu002Ftowns that are walkable. We went quite late in the season and the last week of our stay up to 15th September a lot of restaurants closed for the season but we always managed to find somewhere to eat at night locally. Fell in love with Bunty one of the cats who adopted us for the month. the others were not a problem as they stay in Bob and Debbie's part of the garden and it is so lovely that they are cared for all their lives. We had to visit a dentist whilst there Lecce as a front crown came loose, We were taken there by Mino who made the meatballs in our welcome pack and the treatment was amazing, came out with a new crown beautifully done on the premises 4hrs later, we were very impressed and it was a lot cheaper than we would have paid in England. All in all Casa Mare is a great place to stay, the bikes were used by our grandson and his girlfriend to visit beautiful local sandy beaches that had loungers to rent for the day, not expensive.Mosquito bar seemed to be their favorite. Lots to see if you want to, the Trulli Village, shopping in Lecce, and we rented a boat for a day with a lovely couple who captained and cooked for us on Click and Boat and had the most wonderful day.Thoroughly recommend Casa Mare if you want to visit Puglia, we all had a great time .

This villa is amazing, great pool and many spacious areas! Great location to explore Puglia

By Kyle B. on 21-Jul-2018

We had a fantastic time at the Villa which has a fantastic heated pool (like a warm bath) and many different areas to relax and socialise. Bob and Debbie were on hand whenever we needed help with things such as directions or restaurant recommendations or bookings, they have also mastered the art of being there to help but also not intrusive on your holiday at all. The villa provided a great location to explore Puglia including Otranto, Brindisi, Lecce and Gallipoli. The welcome basket on arrival was a great touch, especially with a late arrival from the airport. The villa itself is spacious and the kitchen provides a great area to cook and socialise with your group whilst the outdoor veranda allows for drinks in the evening. We couldn’t recommend this villa enough and would definitely stay again if we were to go to Puglia. Thanks Bob and Debbie for your hospitality and making this one of our best holidays to date!

Fantastic villa, fantastic hosts!

By Grace S. on 14-Jul-2018

Villa was what we wanted and exactly what you see in the picture. Not too far from Brindisi airport, steps from the beach. Being cat lovers we also loved that added value!
Debby and Bob were very gracious, helpful and wonderful hosts. The welcome basket was a great and much appreciated touch. We had a wonderful stay.

Wonderful holiday

By Alison T. on 23-Jun-2018

Casa Mare is a beautiful house and very comfortable. The pool is fantastic and there is lots of shade. Debs and Bob provided lots of small things to make our stay more comfortable such as an excellent guide to the local towns and restaurants which we used a lot and really helped us find some great places to eat. We also really appreciated the excellent welcome basket which included home made meatballs on the night we arrived. There are also 2 bikes; not flash or particularly fast but we loved cycling along the coast to the local village to buy bread and fresh food in the mornings. Puglia is a lovely place for a holiday with lots to see within a short distance but if you want to just stay at Casa Mare that would be excellent too and fantastic for families or couples

Eine wunderschöne Villa für einen perfekten Urlaub

By Thomas S. on 03-Jun-2018

We loved the villa. It had everything we needed and more. It's set in a peaceful walled garden with lots of seating areas and a fantastic pool. A very relaxing place to stay.

Lovely villa with a large pool and close to beach

By Amanda S. on 01-Jun-2017

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Casa Mare. We were made so welcome by Debbie and Bob and the huge welcome basket including a meal for the first evening was very generous. The villa is well equipped and extremely comfortable. The large pool area is ideal for lazy days in the sun but the beach is so close that you are spoilt for choice between the pool and the sea. The villa is ideally placed for visiting Otranto, Monopoli, Gallipoli, and Alberbello, all of which are beautiful and worth the drive. We enjoyed the daily visits from the Casa Mare cats. Thank you for a lovely holiday

Lovely villa, great facilities

By Linda G. on 27-May-2017

The villa met all of our expectations (from owners description and previous reviews). A lovely beachside location, a stone's throw from a secluded beach with crystal clear waters. The villa has a fabulous heated pool which meant that we could swim very comfortably in May. Inside, every room is spacious and extremely well equipped. The owners gave us a much appreciated welcome basket which included some lovely local produce. They were always around to give us any advice re restaurants, places to visit, local tips etc. A fabulous holiday for my families' celebration of my husbands 60th birthday.

Loved Every Minute

By Fromtherock13 St. John's, Canada on 25-Sep-2016

We travelled as a group of three couples, in June of 2016. Our stay at Casa Mare was fabulous!! From the time we booked till the day we checked out, Debbie and Bob, were just wonderful. They answered all of our inquires promptly and suggested local Restaurants to enjoy during our stay. All fabulous! We also booked the Puglia Chef, great evening! Upon arrival, we were greeted and given a tour. The property was just wonderful, clean and inviting, true to the pictures. There was a fabulous gift basket with all kinds of snacks and homemade goodies, including the best lemon marmalade, made by Debbie. !! The pool was quite large and so refreshing, always a warm breeze. It was so relaxing to sit out in the many lounging areas and enjoy a refreshment or two. The beach is dirrectly across and a great place to walk and swim. The cats were wonderful and not intrusive at all. They kept to them selves, but were all quite friendly, if approached. We had a fantastic week at Casa Mare and we would all go back in a heartbeat!! Thanks again Debbie and Bob, it was a pleasure meeting you both and staying in your lovely home. Hugs to you both. Extra big hugs to Bonito

100% Perfect

By Sarah W. on 19-Aug-2016

The villa owners ensure that your stay is perfect from start to finish. Way before you arrive the communication is excellent - you can ask any questions and they will be answered very promptly. Exceptional customer service and you feel that they really do care about your stay. The villa description is fully accurate and so when we arrived we already felt at home. Lots of books, games, puzzles, maps and phrase books ensure that you feel that the villa is a home from home. Highlights are the super pool, proximity to the beach, well stocked kitchen, WONDERFUL welcome basket with cereal, bread, home made sauces, chutneys and limoncello along with items in the fridge such as butter, milk, beer and water, meatballs in tomato sauce and cheeses... There are plenty of places within the garden to sit in full sun or shade, with beach chairs/umbrella and pool inflatables available as added extras. The Casa Mare cats are a delight and we enjoyed learning their names and personalities. Walking along the beach to Lindinuso in the mornings for fresh bread, fruit, veg and meat was perfect - all of the villagers we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend if you want a relaxing and non commercialised environment to soak up the Puglian sun.

Family Holiday

By Harriet B. on 06-Jul-2016

We had a lovely time at Casa Mare. My husband and I came with my son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren (5 and 7). It only took us 30 minutes to drive from the airport. The villa is very spacious, clean and well equipped. The welcome basket was much appreciated, as we had enough for our first meal, and did'nt have to go out shopping. The pool was warm enough for the boys to stay in for hours, even though the weather at the end of May was not very hot. It was very good to have the pool cleaned and covered every night, and to have an ample supply of towels. Although our boys managed well, the shallow end of the pool was over the head of the 5 year old. Bob and Debbie were always on hand for queries, but otherwise we hardly saw them, so felt quite private. The boys also loved the hammock, and had a lot of fun with the cats.

Although the beach is quite narrow, we appreciated the rock pools, and snorkelling over the seaweed, where we saw lots of fish.

We did most of our food shopping in the iper coop at Brindisi (excellent), but got very good bread from the local bread shop. We also went a lot to the Gelateria Vittoria in Squinzano which had delicious ice creams and cakes. we also had a good meal in the restaurant in Via Castello in Messagne.

My husband and I had interesting trips to Otranto, Galatina, Lecce and Porto Cesareo, and there were many other towns we would have liked to explore.

Overall, a very successful holiday, with something for all the family.

Fabulous out of season holiday

By Eastendbird on 22-Dec-2015

We have visited the Salento region many times in the summer but this was a chance to see it out of season and what a great choice that was! I really think it is far easier and just as fun to explore this region in the cooler weather. As it was we were lucky with the temperatures: it was in the low 20 (C) most of the week, but if you sat in a sheltered area in the sunshine - it was hot enough for shorts and t shirts! We only had one day of rain and a couple of cloudy days, but we were too busy to notice! This is where Bob and Debbie's local contacts are invaluable, they directed us towards local restaurants and markets, arranged for a fantastic wine tour and also a day exploring the region further north: we visited Cisternino, Locorotondo and Ostuni, explored an vineyard and an old farmhouse and had a fabulous lunch. Nothing was too much trouble! It goes without saying that the villa is fabulous, well equipped, comfortable and cosy. I would thoroughly recommend booking this villa and enjoying Puglia when it is less crowded but just as fascinating and fun.

Sun, sea and Salento

By Grethic Suffolk UK on 25-Nov-2015

This is a superb holiday villa, right on the sea, well equipped with a pool, three good sized bedrooms, large lounge, excellent kitchen and perfect veranda plus lots of other places to sit around the pool.

The welcome basket is excellent, Bob and Debbie having lived in the area for many years are highly knowledgable and can arrange great days out such as wine tours, through their contacts.

As a keen open water swimmer, runner and cyclist the villa is also well positioned for people that want to keep up their fitness whilst away. A wonderful holiday home away from home on a quiet beach between two small fishing resorts which have restaurants, grocers and markets perfect for those that want to experience the real Salento life.

A brilliant find - great holiday location and grea

By Carl L. on 01-Apr-2015

Great opportunity to have a local Puglian experience in a well set up Villa.

Positives - next to a beach, great for long walks, kids toys etc provided (great bucket and spades), not too busy, not many tourists (set up for local Italians but not too commercial) but all very welcoming, good road connection to Lecce (25 mins away), Ostuni (40 mins away), Brindis (20 mins away), fabulous welcome pack with local ingredients - loved the green tomato chutney and marmalade, local Puglian chef can deliver to your door - we had meatballs for 7 (5 kids +2 adults) and lasagne - great experience to take home, great pool (very clean and warm), nice large kitchen, free wifi, TV, DVD, ipod coking station to play music, fully stocked kitchen, washing machine with powders, owners of this villa have gone to a lot of trouble to cater for every detail all you need to do is sit back and relax, we had a flat tyre on our people carrier and the villa owner sorted it all for us - really nice people who are very helpful and unobtrusive. Great information in English on local area, everything is well set up and children friendly, air con is great, extremely safe environment. We have visited Italy over 20 times and this is one of our best holiday experiences.

Negatives - absolutely none. Owners have every detail covered.

That welcome pack is brilliant, pasta, breads, home made chutney, jams, crisps, butter, milk, breakfast cereals, local wines (white, rose, red), lemonchella, and a local dish to put in the oven - aim is not to have to dash off to the local supermarket as soon as you arrive. Brilliant!

Tips: We took a flight from Paris to Brindisi (we live near the channel tunnel in Kent). For a party of 7 this saved £1,800 in flight costs (UK Bank holiday weekend) and we found parking costs much cheaper. Brindis airport is a medium sized airport that you can step off the plane, walk to baggage reclaim in 2 mins and as soon as your bags are delivered you can be at car hire in under 5 mins. All very easy. Brindisi airport is 25 mins from the villa via the main road that runs through this area.

Perfect Puglia for everyone

By Mariella V. on 31-Mar-2015

Wonderful to be back in Puglia this summer, this time with twenty-something daughter and her friend. Perfect home from home, with great facilities for shared cooking and of course the welcome basket made a perfect kick start! It is great to have the comfort of the villa and pool with the beach nearby so plenty of choice. There are also wonderful villages, towns and beaches in the area for visits. The link up with the local tour specialists lead to some truly magical experiences from wine tasting to passata making. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning.

Ticks all boxes and then some

By Jane W. on 28-Mar-2015

We scoured the internet for our dream spot in Puglia, the beach nearby was the first requirement.

Tick one! Fall out of the Villa and land on the beautiful unspoilt, virtually empty beach, with a lovely clear warm safe sea!

Secluded, but with amenities near by next on the list.

Tick two!Totally secluded and private, and just a short walk either way up the sun kissed beach for local shops and restaurants,ok,not top gourmet restaurants and bars but really nice and clean and run by genuine locals with local produce, which is amazing!

Spacious, clean Villa, with well equipped kitchen another top requirement.

Tick three! Not only is the kitchen a cooks delight,it is stocked with equipment worthy of a professional kitchen! And then some with Debs & Bobs welcome basket!Meatballs and pasta with home made sauce for the weary traveller, and everything else you need to get you started on your rustic Puglian culinary adventure.Special mention goes to Debs amazing home made Casa Mare produce, especially the Limoncello made from lemons growing in the villa grounds, lost a complete night on the stuff.

Pool and nice outside area next.

Tick four!

Beautiful large pool, deep and shallow ends, lots of pool fun equipment, sun beds, seats, chairs, alfresco dining on the terrace, flowers and shrubs, again catering size BBQ.All well maintained and pristine, really nice place to eat, cook and relax.Historical Towns and Villages with lots of gorgeous architecture to visit

Tick 5 in abundance!

I am not going to list them, far too many to mention and everything covered in the extensive information folders compiled by Debs & Bob,you could not wish to be better informed on what is on where and when.

And talking of Bob & Deb,they are discretely on hand to help, advise or answer any questions you may have, their knowledge of the local area boundless. The cats are a welcome distraction from lazing around but they only come if you encourage them. There is a book that has been written about them, and some of their stories are quite remarkable. My husband is not the biggest fan of cats and was totally not bothered by them.

Casa Mare is a great base to explore Puglia from,or just to laze and relax,it really is the place that has it all.Book up and go,families or couples or friends there is something for everyone, just go with the flow and I am sure you will end up loving Puglia,Casa Mare and the superb hosts Debs & Bob just like we did. This holiday all our box's and I am sure it will do the same for you

Excellent relaxing hoilday!

By LsLonUk on 10-Jul-2014

Most amazing welcome pack ever... Wine, first meal, breakfast!!

We had a great time at casa mare.. The beautiful cats were an added pleasure, all the children had their favourites!

Pool was great. Only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was the heat exchanger was broken, so the pool was a little chilly in May/June. This was the main reason we chose this villa, but having been there, there are many other reasons to stay!!

We had a fantastic holiday at Casa Mare .... couldn't have asked for anything more. The brilliant welcome basket got us off to a great start and it was good to taste local products, We were celebrating several birthdays and anniversaries; Debbie and the Puglia Chef made sure they were more than special. Also days out arranged for us including wine tasting and a boat trip added to our enjoyment.

The pool was a great hit, especially with the children, and still warm even late in September. The kids loved the beach too which is literally a minute from the gates of the villa.

The comprehensive information in the visitor guide made a real difference and helped us make the most of our holiday.

Casa Mare Holiday Puglia Italy

By Bonglebook Southampton, United Kingdom on 22-Nov-2013

What a wonderful holiday, the weather was hot and sunny, the locals really friendly. Situated right on the coastline we could hear the waves on the beach whilst sipping aperitif by the pool. Accommodation clean and comfortable, kitchen has everything you need, home from home. Pool is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Highly recommended.

An unforgettable villa in an unforgettable place

By A Holiday Lettings Verified Reviewer Henley-on-Tha on 13-Jun-2013

Review of Casa Mare, May/June 2013
In spite of a glowing description, all too often villas booked through the internet fall short of expectations. But Casa Mare far exceeded them. First impressions count, and to walk from hot sunshine through the large villa gate to discover a beautiful shaded pergola, the air filled with the scent of jasmine, the hint of blue water sparkling through the leaves, set the scene perfectly.
The villa is large, light and airy and very pretty. The three bedrooms have masses of wardrobe and drawer space, the kitchen is particularly well equipped and the solar powered hot water never runs out. In the sitting room there is a treasure trove of books, games, DVDs and most important of all the Black File. We used this hive of information every day and found it invaluable. The television is larger than most people possess in their own homes and picks up just about all the English channels (including children’s) one could need. There was the promise of a Welcome Basket awaiting us – but we didn’t expect a delicious dinner also to be there. What a relief with two tired little children, and much needed by the four of us adults too after a long day of travelling.
The garden is a delight, with a large shady terrace in front of the villa and so many areas for basking in the sun – always a glass in hand! Plenty of shady areas too. To one side, the fruit and vegetable garden produces more than most green grocers in England. The star of the garden is the large, warm, enticing blue pool, with plenty of sitting areas and loungers all around. The pool is constantly maintained and cleaned to the highest standard. There are also masses of pool toys for the children.
We chose this villa originally because we wanted a sandy beach close by. It is so close that you can hear the gentle waves lapping on the sand when you lie in bed, no road to cross. We swam in the sea, built sand castles and enjoyed a sundowner most evenings. We explored the whole local area. Southern Italy doesn’t have the sophistication of more northern Italy and this is reflected in the fact that the cost of living is so much cheaper here. Everywhere there are glorious olive groves, charming little villages and towns, excellent little shops filled with delicious fresh food (a 15 minute walk along the beach to Lendinuso is a must for breakfast croissants and fresh rolls in the mornings) and there are some delightful restaurants close by that are not over priced. Puglia wine is in profusion with gutsy reds and mouth watering rosés to match the best and most expensive in Europe. Talking of wine, we went on an extremely interesting wine tasting trip for a day with Paola and Donna. We enjoyed it so much we have arranged to have some wines shipped to England.
Do not miss a visit to historic Leccé, about 20 minutes away once you are familiar with the road. Do not miss Torre San Genaro either (20 minutes walk) with dancing and singing in the square in the evenings for young and old alike, and a delicious inexpensive pizza at the White Bar.
Finally, Debbie and Bob Lane, the owners, are on the spot to act immediately if anything is required. They could not have been more charming, and never, ever intruded. We were very grateful for their advice and suggestions on several occasions. Our children adored their cats in the garden, though they never came into the villa.
All reviews must have a downside: this is one of the few places left in Europe that remains unspoilt, with wonderful sunshine and charming, friendly people everywhere. The downside is that one day it will be discovered by tourist developers and follow the same pattern as many other similar parts of Europe. Get there quick before that happens!

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing

By BenEadair10 Selby, United Kingdom on 20-May-2013

Just returned from spending a week at Casa Mare. The villa was lovely and very well presented. The welcome basket was awesome, full of the basic necessities and lots of treats. This included a meal for the first night from the Puglian Chef and wine to wash it down with!
The pool was lovely and the hot tub was a real hit with our two-year-old granddaughter. She also loved the cats,
who seemed to spend a lot of time running away from her!
The area was lovely and all facilities were fairly close by.
We all wish we had had another week there.

A great villa with a fab pool in a fantastic location with superb hosts

By John G Tenbury Wells, United Kingdom on 20-Aug-2012

My husband and I and our 4 young children, aged 8,6,4,1 stayed at Casa Mare for 2 and a half weeeks from the 23rd July 2012. The villa is large, comfortable and well equipped, it really is like home from home. The air conditioning is a great advantage on those hot days (which was every day!!) The large heated pool is fab we had lots of fun in it and we found the outside toilet and shower useful. The location is peaceful and relaxing with a beach just two minutes walk away. It is an easy 20 min stroll into Lendinuso where there are shops, restaurants and a beach. We really enjoyed the beach at Campo di Mare it was sandy, safe, clean and very child friendly. The sea was warm, calm and shallow for quite a way, the children loved playing and swimming in the sea here. We would recommend days out to Lecce,Otranto, Ostuni and zoosafari near Fasano. We had a couple of tasty meals from Mino the Puglia chef and would highly recommend his food. We had an amazing holiday and would love to return. Debbie and Bob the owners are very friendly, helpful and informative.

A great and relaxing holiday in a absolutly friendly atmosphere

By Uwe S Brno on 20-Aug-2012

The villa was perfect funished and you are missing nothing. You also have all kind of staff in the kitchen. The welcome package was great and so you have an easy start into the holiday. After some hours you feel already home. Very important for this is the unclomipicated, friendly and very helpfull behaviour of Debbe and Bob. At the end you really feel like you make holidays at your friends home.
We strongly have the wish to come back and maybe stay for a bit longer time than 2 week.

Even better than we expected!

It was a fantastic stay and Debbie and Bob were brilliant hosts. The house and pool were lovely and the sea was very close and warm and very clean.

Great villa for a young family

By Steve N. on 23-Aug-2011

We had a fantastic 10 days at Casa Mare. The villa is excellently appointed and you would struggle to find a better property for a family holiday with children. The swimming pool and surrounding area are excellent and the hot tub is great for a soak once the sun has gone down. The owners Debbie and Bob are very friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. We had an excellent welcome pack which meant that even with 8 mouths to feed we did not have to venture to the supermarket on the day we arrived. The closest towns are quiet and certainly not for those seeking more adventurous nightlife but are perfect for sampling the simple, traditional Italian seaside location, good food and very pallatable, very cheap wine. It is pointed out in the details but you should definitely avoid this property if you have a dislike of ( or allergy to) cats as they are very present part of the property - which is great for kids and cat lovers. Overall this is an excellent property which offers great value for money.

Fabulous Villa Seconds from the Sea!

By Richard C. London SE3 on 16-Aug-2011

We have just returned from a great 2 weeks in Case Mare where the 'omni' present Debbie and Bob could not have been more helpful and provided a welcome pack that beats all welcome packs and a villa that has absolutely everything you would every need. Huge pool hot tub restaurant recommendations, fab places to visit, beaches to lie on and seas to snorkel in.

If you have 4 teenagers that you need to keep entertained (huge DVD Colletion on site a god send!) this is the perfect spot.

The only way it could have been improved would have been the addition of a table tennis table - family tradition so no defending title match this year.

Highly Recommended - any thanks.

my stay at casa mare

By Evelyn Norway on 07-Jul-2011

My stay at casa mara was every thing I hoped for. The add on the computer and what it was like in real life were correct. I would love to return some day. I would recommend casa mara to freinds and family.

The villa was luxurious, and we received a very warm welcome- Couldn't be better

By A Holiday Lettings Verified Reviewer Aylesbury, Un on 05-Jun-2011

Warm greeting and welcome. Above usual help when we needed it ( and we did) - such a support. Food wonderful - local produce and recipes cooked by the local chef which was also very good value. Welcome basket very useful and lovely contents. Place clean and pool and hot tub just what we ordered! The beds all very comfortable, good mattresses, which I haven't had at any other villas we have stayed in. Beach just outside gates and the area was quiet when we went but although our Italian is none existent, the locals were friendly. Not a touristy area!! A car definitely needed. Loved the cats, and their antics- we will miss them! Thankyou very much to Debbie, Bob and The Puglia Chef for making our stay so easy and enjoyable.

Richard & Fiona Surrey uk

By Fi Surrey UK on 19-May-2011

My husband Richard and I stayed at Casa Mare at the beginning of the season, the location is beautiful and very versatile, offering peace and quiet or fun and adventure depending on what you are looking for.

The property is extremely comfortable, with full amenities including a big pool and a sheltered sunny garden. The beach is right next door and the general location is excellent for visiting the numerous historic towns close by (Lecce, Alberobello), and further afield (Pompeii – 3.30 to 4 hours away).

Debbie and Bob were like walking tourist information centres, and gave us some great ideas for places to visit that were of interest to us.

The food in the south is very good with a concentration on fresh fish, what we found particularly nice is that the local area was the real Italy and not a tourist trap.

Great house and very peaceful

By Umbrian Scots Perugia, Italy on 28-Sep-2010

We spent 9 days in Casa Mare at the beginning of September. The house and pool were perfect for us and just as described. We wanted peace and quiet and that's what we got. Beds very comfy and kitchen well equipped with everything. We didn't use the local beach as it was a bit narrow and without shade but loved the nearby "Exotic" beach at Casalabate. We had slightly mixed weather and beach facilities were just beginning to shut down (especially around Gallipoli) but all the restaurant and trip suggestions from the house book or from Bob that we followed up were very reliable. Bob couldn't have been more helpful, especially when we had to leave a day early and organise flights to the UK in a hurry. We will certainly return to Puglia and do more exploring of Lecce, Brindisi and the Ostuni area which we didn't mange to complete. Bob and Debbie were excellent in all communications prior to our trip and we would certainly recommend Casa Mare to everyone - except to those with a cat allergy!

Home from Home

By Pat And Geoff UK on 25-Sep-2010

Casa Mare is a well maintained and beautiful spacious well furnished villa with a good size swimming pool. We were very impressed with the well equipped kitchen and welcome hamper. Bob and Debbie are fantastic hosts, they made us so welcome. We were so impressed right from the beginning of our holidaywhen there was a mix up with our car hire at the airport. Bob immediately drove to the airport to see if he could help. There were othe little touches like Debbie would leave strawberries for us from her garden and were very generous in supplying us with the local vino when we didn't have any. The location is great, just a few steps to the beach and easy access to historic places of Otranto and Lecce. For eating there are lovely local pizzierias and restaurants.

Casa Mare - at home by the sea

By Grethic Suffolk, UK on 14-Sep-2010

This was our second stay at Casa Mare, which we now think of as home by the sea. Debbie and Bob were charming hosts as ever and the welcome pack meant we were nicely established from the moment we arrived. Having taken up distance swimming this year, it was a delight to be able to do an hour's swim before breakfast, in peace and quiet and then slowly emerge into the day with fresh coffee accompanied with fruits and meats from the shops and market a short walk away at Lindinuso.

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with the benefit of a full size, fully equipped kitchen, free wifi and British TV.

The beauty here is also the setting; the sea is only yards away, close enough to hear and see, but in the walled garden you are sheltered if it is a breezy day. It is also very easy to tour from here visiting stunning historic towns such as Lecce or further afield Matera. Food in the heel of Italy is stunning and the opportunity to take in food festivals and listen to the local pizzica music means you can be fully absorbed late into the night. If you want something more local, there are restaurants within comfortable walking distance where fish in particular is a speciality.

This is also a great area for watersports from snorkelling to wind surfing and kite boarding.

Casa Mare is a fabulous base for a holiday only 40 minutes drive from Brindisi which has an international airport and excellent train links to the UK.

Casa Mare

By Alfieb Buckinghamshire, UK on 01-Jun-2010

We have not long returned from a ten day stay at Casa Mare and felt compelled to write a review, as we absolutely had a fantastic time in this relatively undiscovered and beautiful, uncommercialised part of Italy. The villa itself is in a quiet area and has everything you could need from beach towels to crockery, tv etc. Solar heated pool (very spacious with lilo's to hand) through to really spacious rooms and well furnished living areas. Bob and Debbie are really discreet and you hardly know they are there. But, knowing they were on hand to help with everything from directions to places to visit was, in our opinion, brilliant. And they could not have been more welcoming or accommodating and friendly and made sure we felt at home and had everything we needed, including a welcome basket of goodies which is a great idea. As cat lovers, we did not mind seeing the various cat characters around the villa. The local town San Genarro has a great little coffee/ice cream bar right on the sea front and we enjoyed walking along the beach from the villa to see everyday life in the village. A car is a must not just for getting to and from the airport to the villa, but it also meant we were able to get out and about and visit places around the area including Gallipoli which was a well worth a visit. As G&T lovers, the lemon tree in the villa grounds was a welcome treat as was the lovely fresh vegetables and herbs which we enjoyed as part of the 'good life'. We had a really special holiday.

Relaxation Italian Style

By Helen R. St Andrews Scotland on 01-Oct-2009

We had planned a relaxing holiday in Casa Mare with our young adult daughters. We all needed to recharge our batteries and catch up. Casa Mare was the perfect spot. It is literally a stones throw away from the beach, so even when you are relaxing on the terace or by the pool you can hear the sound of the sea. Bliss! The house itself was well appointed and the owners Bob and Debbie very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. I will say you would have to like cats to stay here which we do - we love them and the adorable bunch which live with Bob and Debbie provided hours of fun for us all. I really only have good things to say about Casa Mare however a constructive remark would be that removable covers on the lovely outside sofa to keep them clean would have been welcome as would some new sunbed cushions. Small things which would certainly not stop us from returning. If you do holiday in Casa Mare do make use of the fabulous Puglia chef. We preordered lots of tasty food for the freezer from Mino and it was just fabulous to have such lovely food on lazy days without any effort. A car is a must here but it is truely a great spot for a relaxing holiday.

By Grethic UK on 04-Sep-2009

This was our first stay at Casa Mare but our third with Debbie and Bob. We already arrived with high expectations for the welcome basket and facilities and we knew that the descriptions would be accurate or if anything slightly understated; all of which was true. Casa Mare is a fantastic location, 24 seconds walk from the sea, great for sea swimmers and a huge pool and hot tub for those that like their water tamed. The kitchen is well equipped and with a seemingly endless supply of tomatoes and peppers from the garden we ate out much less this year than in previous years.

In addition to Cipolla Beach, which is unspoilt and on the doorstep, the other beaches in the area are range from simple, to one beach bar to a whole town; so you really can take your pick (Our current favourite is Torre Rinalda, one small beach bar, warm shallow waters, sandy).

Towns such as Otranto, Lecce and Gallipoli are well known; also worth exploring are smaller towns such as Oria, which can be incorporated into an out and about day. Other ideas for a different kind of day trip include the various wine and food producers in the area, listed in Sapori e Vini; markets, for there are many [Casal’abate everyday and huge on a Sunday], Sagra (seasonal food based festivals) and various ruins.

There is no shortage of great places to eat. Debbie and Bob and the visitors book can tell you where in on form but from simple Mom and Pop style through to top of the range cooking it is all there; plenty of fish and all local and seasonal.

This area is very much home to Italian’s on holiday, not much English is spoken but people are friendly and if you make even the slightest effort to speak the language you will be rewarded. The shops at Lendinuso include two butchers, a patisserie, with a fruit & veg stall in the morning and a small supermarket so you can get everything you need within walking distance or you can go for a wider range at one of the bigger supermarkets only a few kilometres away.

Bob and Debbie provide a fantastic service, above and beyond the call of duty in our case as we had to seek some medical help. The welcome pack means you can knock up a first meal easily, the wine and lemoncello are also very welcome. The Casa Mare Cats have inspired me to start storytelling, so I may be back for a few more chapters!

Very comfortable home from home.

By Michael D. Leeds on 04-Sep-2009

We spent 2 weeks as Case Mare with our friends and their son, 3 kids in all (6,9 & 9). The villa is very well equipped and extremely comfortable. I was a little worried about heat at night as the 2 bedrooms at the end of the corridor 'share' the air con but we slept comfortably every night. That may have been in part due to the amount of vino, sambuca and limoncello consumed (not by the kids of course). The well equipped kitchen and gas barbeque were well used and we ate well in when we felt like it.

The pool is just fantastic and a great size. Always warm when we were there but it was August and very very hot.

Bob and Debbie were around and are a really lovely couple. We saw them most days but they do not intrude and it's actually great to have them there with all their knowledge of the area, The green folder they produced is also a great source of info. The cats appear mainly in the evening and the kids absolutely loved them.

Lots of great towns/places to visit nearby. Lendinuso on the doorstep appears at first to be not much of a place but at night the locals come out and there is a great little supermarket/bar by the square where there is things going on during the summer at weekends. Also a great pizzeria/restaurant a little further on. Note - the prices in this area are jaw droppingly cheap .

All in all a great place to visit and lovely villa to stay in.

Fantastic holiday villa!

By Cristian RO Romania on 07-Aug-2009

First of all, to our surprise and above our expectations, everything that represents Casa Mare looks much better than the photos showed on the site. Starting with the pool which is enormous and well maintained almost every day by the owners to the vast kitchen where you can feel free to move and cook with pleasure. The rooms are large, the beds excellent, the bed linen absolutely clean and smooth - Made in England :), weekly changed by the owners, the living room is equipped with everything you need , from listening music to watching a DVD on pretty sophisticated and well maintained Panasonic Plasma and a new generation Samsung DVD.

No matter where you stop in the yard, you can easily find comfy seating - a deck chair, and even a table where you can leave your coffee cup or your lemonade. The grass is daily watered and everything looks so fresh.

Honestly, we felt so good in this home that we only swimed in the sea two or three times (although the sandy beach is awesome).

Although we were worried by the idea of spending our holiday in the same place with the owners (being used with owners living in different areas not in the same house), we truly felt the british common sense, so that sometimes we forgotten that someone else lives in the same place with us. Debby and Bob are such extraordinary people who make their presence felt only when you need some help or if you just wish to ask a question.

One last thing... The welcoming basket was more than an honorific gesture, and frankly the feeling we had the first time when we entered in the house was to say "home sweet home". There is nothing missing, you will find there almost everything you need (especially concerning cooking), and if you have any concern about something, you will find a manual on the kitchen table where you can read the answers to many of your possible questions, written in a very precise manner... there are written also some trip advices, maps or some small warnings about italian road traffic legislation.

This was one of the most wonderful and peaceful holiday we ever had. Thank you.

Week's family holiday at Casa Mare

By Sussex Family West Sussex, England on 05-Aug-2009

The information provided before our stay was very informative and helpful. Bob and Debbie were always ready to answer our questions promptly by email. The house was all that we had hoped: the pool was large and and heated; the rooms were clean and spacious and the air-con effective, important in a week of cloudless skies and temperatures in the 30s. Bob and Debbie continued to be a source of advice and recommendation for visits and restaurants, leaving us to our holiday in privacy but always available. The locale was unused to foreign tourists but everyone was friendly and welcoming: we had good days out at Lecce, Otranto and Gallipoli and our 16 and 18 year old children visited the undeveloped, narrow and shabby beach on a couple of occasions. Local menus were largely based on fresh seafood in the wide range of restaurants that we visited.

The property would be ideally suited for a young family with pre-teen children looking for a holiday largely based around water activities.

A brilliant holiday destination

By CharlieP UK on 17-Oct-2008

We all found Casa Mare better than a home from home. The pool is fabulous and the beach a joy, and it's on the doorstep!

All the extra touches like the barbecue, the great kitchen and more help and advice than anyone can ask for made our holiday extra special.

We all loved the private peaceful feeel to the house, garden and location. Definitely a great holiday destination.

Villa in Puglia

By Irons Chelmsford, Essex, UK on 21-Aug-2008

The villa was very well appointed and maintained to a high standard with all the facilities you would expect. The pool was the biggest we have ever had on a holiday rental!

We were a little anxious before the holiday about the owners living on site - we like our privacy as a family - but we had no need to be worried, the owners (Bob and Debbie) were on hand if we needed them but let us get on with our holiday as if they weren't there.

The area was very unspoilt and very much a resort for Italians. Very few spoke English and we spoke next to no Italian but we got by with gestures, signs and a bit of luck and found the local people to be very friendly and helpful.

The weather was baking hot (last week in July and first week in August) but with the sea about 30 yards away and the pool at the villa, we spent most of the time in the water!
