Description
Two one bedroom apartments rented together with a lovely private garden and pool.You will feel truly relaxed in the quiet garden which is given privacy by a huge rock characteristic of the surrounding villages. The rock which is covered in wild flowers offers a unique feel to the garden.
The two simply decorated apartments have been renovated to a nice standard, in a traditional Tuscan style. The accommodation, for up to eight people is perfect for both couples and small groups of family or friends who want an extra bit of privacy whilst holidaying together.
The first apartment sleeps 4 in total and is on the ground floor. It has an open plan kitchen/ living and dining room with double sofa bed. Coming off this space is the tiled bathroom and double bedroom.
The second larger apartment is set over two floors, with the kitchen/ dining/ living room on the bottom floor with double sofa bedand the bathroom and bedroom which sleeps 3 on the 1st floor. This apartment also has a spacious terrace that looks onto the rock and pool, a great spot for an evening drink or afternoon daydreaming.
The pool has blue/ black tiles which means it is a few degrees warmer than other swimming pools. The mature garden has olive trees and rosemary bushes, and there is lots of outdoor furniture.
There is a seperate building with dryer and two washing machine for the guests to use.
The property is in the village of Villetta which has one of the best views in Tuscany. The owner of the apartment also owns the restaurant/ pizzeria a few minutes walk away and is a great host. In the village there is also a bar and a couple of shops. 10 minutes walk away there is an excellent wild swimming spot. The apartments are set just above the local church, the road to the house is narrow.
There are many interesting villages and towns within 10 minutes drive of the apartments and lots of restaurants in the vicinity. The large market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is 15 minutes drive, Barga is 30 minutes drive, Bagni Di Lucca is 40 minutes, Lucca 50 minutes, Pisa 1.5 hours, Florence 2 hours, Cinque Terre 2.5 hours. In short, this is a great place to visit if you want to enjoy the beautiful rural Tuscan countryside but also want to explore the famous sites of northern Tuscany.

The area is well known for its excellent value restaurants, using the best of local ingredients. A typical set lunch with 4 choices of pasta course, and 4 choices of main course costs only 10-12 Euros inclusive of bread, wine and coffee. It is possible to have a multi-course traditional Sunday lunch or dinner with ample wine, coffee and liquors for less than 30 Euros.
Garfagnana is the best area in Tuscany for walking.
We have strong links with an outdoor activities company who offer guided walks and climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and world class gorge walking.
There are several horse riding stables in the area.

By Wiola on 15-Sep-2024The pool and garden are very nice and well-maintained, as described. Good location as a starting point, you can also get to know the atmosphere of small Italian towns. We chose this location to get to the Cinque Terre from there. In this neighborhood private house with pool is a good deal

By Tabea on 09-Jul-2024The outside area of the house is great! A large garden with great pool and as the house is divided into two separate apartments, also very suitable for several people. It is in a small village in the mountains, but super quiet and super to relax, with an incredible view!
Nice place
By Mathea on 09-Jul-2024Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this Airbnb. The location was beautiful and the garden with pool was a highlight, especially since we were allowed to bring our dog. The hosts were easy to reach and quickly organized a new pan for us when we asked. However, some improvements could be made to make the stay even more pleasant. The furnishings could be more loving and comfortable, especially the garden furniture. Unfortunately, the beds and cushions were very uncomfortable, which affected the sleeping comfort. Overall, everything was okay, but the ambience seemed a bit old and not particularly inviting. Nevertheless, we had a good time and would describe it as a solid accommodation.
2nd time staying
By Siobhan on 20-Oct-2023We stayed at this property a few years ago and really nothing has changed. The two sperate apartments suited us perfectly. On arrival there was an array of food stuffs waiting for us including wine, water, milk, pasta, bread and condiments. This was a very nice touch and much appreciated. There was a mix-up regarding our arrival time, so we had settled in by the time Sophie arrived to welcome us, however this was not an issue. Sophie provided us with extra towels and provided us with her phone number should we require any further assistance. We slept very well in the peaceful environment and enjoyed the many excellent restaurants that the local area has to offer. Two restaurants and bars are within walking distance of the villa, walking down is easy but be prepared for the walk back up!
