Superb holiday

By Melanie Hill-Walker on 01-Oct-2024

***** I cannot speak too highly of La Baronnie - or of Shona and Steve as hosts! Having never visited this part of France before we were a bit unsure of where to look; however, when we found the listing for La Baronnie, and received such a lovely and detailed response to our enquiry from Shona, we knew that it was the right choice. The property is stunningly beautiful with incredible views over the surrounding countryside; and the Manoir, which we stayed in, was the perfect base for our young family - homely, welcoming and exceptionally well equipped, finished to a very high standard. The lovely swimming pool was a big hit with our six and three year old (and us!); and the Manoir’s beautiful wraparound veranda, with views over the fields and woodland beyond, swiftly became our favourite place to spend the evening. In terms of the local area we couldn’t have ended up in a better location - castles and river beaches galore, and wonderful towns to explore just a short drive away, including Beynac and St Cyprien, with its amazing Sunday market. Having lived in the area for many years, Shona and Steve have a wealth of knowledge on the region, and were always happy to advise on activities and places to visit to suit all ages. This, together with their kindness in welcoming us into their home, really did make our holiday extra special. Thank you Shona and Steve for a wonderful week at La Baronnie - we hope very much to make a return visit!

Welcoming and freidnly hosts

By Elizabeth Wells on 30-Jul-2024

We have recently returned from La Baronnie having spent a couple of weeks there. Our hosts were so welcoming and friendly and offered all the local advice we needed. The gite was incredibly well stocked with some goodies to get us started. The views are amazing from the balconies and the property is in the most beautiful part of the Dordogne we have ever visited. There is so much to see without going too far. If you are looking for a well stocked gite in a stunning area with a fabulous pool and great hosts then look no further. Thank you Shona and Steve!! Fantastic holiday

6 months ago We cannot recommend La Baronnie Gîtes enough! What an amazing place! We stayed in the 3 bedroom gîtes for one week which was just fantastic - it provided way more than we expected - extremely comfortable with the kitchen being a fantastic size to cook, eat and relax in. The outside area was wonderful for breakfast in the mornings and drinks in the early evening. The pool area was SUPERB! We relaxed there every afternoon and the views were amazing. It is easy walking distance to Saint Cyprien where we found quaint shops, bars and restaurants with the Sunday Market being great fun with all sorts of cheeses, meats, spices, clothes, bags etc on offer and finishing off with the champagne and oyster van. However, the main reason to stay at La Baronnie Gîtes is the absolutely amazing host Shona and her husband Steve. Never have we been made to feel so genuinely welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We left La Baronnie Gîtes not only with a tan but with new found friends! Visited in October 2022

Manoir review

By Melanie Cook on 22-Sep-2022

6 months ago We had a fantastic 2 weeks retreat in Shona and Steve''s Manor House. We found it immaculately clean, really homely and very comfortable. We had the best first nights sleep away ever, because the bed is super comfy and the bed linen is superior. The house is well equipped and has everything needed for a family. We really appreciated the outside secluded space, the modern kitchen and sitting room and barbecue. Based in a beautiful location with the prettiest garden and fantastic views from the verandah. We enjoyed the close proximity of the Dordogne river as well as visiting the very local and recommended historic properties and caves without need ing to travel more than 20 minutes. Shona and Steve were brilliant hosts, so welcoming and ready to accommodate our every need. We had some really fun evenings with you guys, and look forward to our return. Thank you Mel, Graham and the girls. Visited in September 2022
