Overview
Description
LAUREL COTTAGE: A COMFORTABLE BASE FOR FOUR, WITH A PRIVATE HOT TUB AND 24/7 INDOOR POOLLaurel Cottage is a peaceful, dog-friendly cottage for up to four guests, set above the Conwy Valley with panoramic views towards Eryri (Snowdonia). It has a super-king bedroom, a fixed twin room, a covered verandah, its own private hot tub and access to a heated 11-metre indoor pool shared only with guests staying in neighbouring Fig Tree Cottage.
Laurel works particularly well for couples wanting more space, smaller families, friends who prefer separate beds and walkers looking for a practical base within easy reach of Conwy, Betws-y-Coed and Eryri.
We, Penny and Suzy, own and run Conwy Valley Getaway and live on site nearby. We answer enquiries ourselves, so you can ask any practical questions before deciding whether Laurel is right for your stay.

INSIDE LAUREL
The open-plan living area is arranged around the view, with sliding glass doors opening onto the patio and bringing plenty of natural light into the cottage. A large corner sofa provides comfortable seating, with a Smart TV and radiator heating throughout.
The adjoining kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and Nespresso machine. Starter tea, coffee and kitchen essentials are provided. The dining table seats four.
BEDROOMS
The light-filled main bedroom has a super-king bed, bedside reading lights and generous floor space.
The second bedroom has two full-size single beds and looks across the valley towards the mountains. The fixed twin arrangement makes Laurel a straightforward choice for children, friends or relatives who prefer separate beds.
A travel cot and high chair can be provided by prior arrangement. Guests need to bring their own cot bedding.
BOOT ROOM AND WORKSPACE
Laurel has a separate boot room where coats, walking boots, dog leads and outdoor equipment can be kept away from the main living space.
It also contains a desk and chair, providing a useful quiet corner for checking emails or occasional remote working. WiFi is suitable for normal browsing, streaming and video calls, although speeds can fluctuate in a rural location.
BATHROOM AND ACCESS
The bathroom has a double-ended bath and a separate shower cubicle. The shower has a raised tray requiring a small step up, and the bath requires stepping over the side.
Laurel is single-storey throughout with no internal steps, although it is not fully wheelchair adapted. Doorways have a minimum clear opening of 750mm and external doors have standard thresholds.
Parking is close to the cottage, but part of the route is compacted gravel, which may be challenging for some wheelchair users. Please contact us before booking if anyone in your party has specific access requirements. We can provide further measurements and photographs.
PRIVATE HOT TUB AND COVERED VERANDAH
The covered verandah and adjoining patio have lounge seating, a private hot tub and a separate picnic bench for eating outside. The verandah provides some shelter in changeable weather, while the patio remains open to the views across the Conwy Valley.
The hot tub is for Laurel guests only and is available 24 hours a day throughout the year. It seats up to four people.
Children under six are not permitted in the hot tub. Children aged six to fifteen must be supervised by a competent adult.
THE INDOOR SWIMMING POOL
One of Laurel’s strongest features is the heated indoor pool, available at any time of day or night throughout the year.
The pool is reserved solely for guests staying in Laurel and Fig Tree. It is not open to the public and is never shared with more than the two cottages. Because it serves so few guests, it is often quiet, although sole use cannot be guaranteed unless both cottages have been booked together.
The pool is 11 metres long and has a constant depth of 1.5 metres throughout, with no shallow end. Entry is by a four-step ladder with handrails. There is no lifeguard, hoist or level-entry access.
Children under sixteen must be supervised by a competent adult at all times. Please bring separate towels for the pool and hot tub.
DOGS AND THE GARDEN
Up to two dogs are welcome at £35 per dog, per stay. Dogs must be booked and paid for in advance.
Dogs must not be left unaccompanied in the cottage or garden and are not permitted on beds or soft furnishings. Guests should bring their own dog bedding and towels.
Beyond Laurel’s patio is a shared one-acre garden. The patio is unfenced, and the garden should not be treated as fully enclosed. Rural stock fencing forms much of the boundary, but the driveway gate is usually left open for ease of access.
Dogs prone to wandering, chasing livestock or following scents will need close supervision and may need to remain on a lead outside. Sheep graze in the surrounding fields.
PRACTICAL FACILITIES
A shared laundry room in the courtyard contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board. Books and games are also available.
Laurel has two dedicated parking spaces close to the cottage.
The shared EV charger is a tethered 7kW Type 2 unit operated by Voltshare on a pay-as-you-go basis. The cable is provided. The charger is shared with Fig Tree and is available on a first come, first served basis.
A PEACEFUL BASE FOR EXPLORING NORTH WALES
Laurel is in a quiet rural position on the edge of the Bodnant estate, but is well placed for exploring the Conwy Valley, coast and Eryri.
Approximate driving times:
• Bodnant Garden: 10 minutes
• Llanrwst: 15 minutes
• Conwy town and castle: 20 minutes
• RSPB Conwy: 20 minutes
• Betws-y-Coed: 24 minutes
• Llandudno and the Great Orme: 28 minutes
• Ogwen Valley and Cwm Idwal: 40 minutes
• Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Pen-y-Pass: 45 minutes
The approach is along a quiet single-track road with passing places.

TRAVELLING WITH A LARGER GROUP?
