Overview
Description
A large private annexe of a country cottage in beautiful West Dorset.Dorset Croft sits in the heart of stunning West Dorset countryside (Dorset AONB). This idyllic setting still allows you to easily reach everything you will want, to enjoy your country holiday exactly as you wish.
The Dorset Croft holiday let is a spacious and bright first floor annexe with its own parking, entrance and roof terrace area. There are views to the countryside from all windows and plenty of space to relax and get comfortable. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and an external door that takes you to the roof deck – a lovely spot for breakfast or an evening glass of something whilst you look at the stars and listen to the owls. The whole property is recently refurbished and provides lovely holiday accommodation for you, maybe with your dog (2 dogs max), to enjoy the wonderful countryside and coast we are so lucky to have.
You might have spent the day out walking the network of paths we have crossing West Dorset or enjoying the challenge of the South West Coast Path. Cyclists can lose themselves in the lanes that wind their way across West Dorset and into Devon. Walkers and cyclists alike can take off straight from the door and at the end of the day dog walkers and cyclists have a spot to wash down outside with a ‘BikeTrap’ secure bike storage point for the cyclists peace of mind and a waterproof dog bed for your dog to ease out of the days exertions.
For the days when you want a destination you could head to Lyme Regis, Forde Abbey, West Bay, Charmouth for fossil hunting, Abbotsbury Swannery for the signets in Spring, Mapperton House, local vineyards or cider farms and very many more lovely and varied places.
Wherever you have spent your day, you can prepare your well earned dinner in the full sized kitchen, or alternatively Beaminster and Bridport, where there are many pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, are just a few miles away.
Dorset Croft has the Jubilee Trail crossing its land and so walkers can get straight on this and head for the nearby Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Pen – the two highest points in Dorset which have the most fantastic views. From Pilsdon Pen the view encompasses almost the entire Dorset coast from Portland to Lyme Bay. For a hattrick of Dorset high spots, Golden Cap is the highest point on the South Coast with gorgeous views along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Dorset Croft
By Simon on 13-Sep-2025Scenic and secluded. A great base for exploring west Dorset. Gareth and Suzanne were very welcoming and the flat was spacious and well equipped for our stay. Loved the outdoor space for enjoying the sun and stargazing.

By Dom on 08-May-2025What a find. I wanted something quiet and peaceful and it turned out to be perfect. The flat/apartment is built on top of the main house but with separate entrance. You wouldn’t know anyone else was there with a fantastic sun trap of a patio. I had my own parking and came as I pleased. If you want a great base with local walking it’s perfect. Small trip into Waitrose in Bridport or fresh fish at Lyme Regis. Lovely restaurant Brassica in Beaminster. Everything close by but a car is needed. Hosts were great and leave you just to relax and soak up the lovely setting. If you want to relax and get away from it then it was pretty perfect. Even an outdoor table and pizza oven. Internet all worked but TV is only digital so not an issue as I was aware but something to consider if you want PRIME or NETFLIX. Otherwise has everything you could want. Even sheep in the fields adjacent to the property to add to the experience. Nearest pub a couple of miles in Beaminster. Thoroughly recommended

By Ray on 31-May-2025Great annexe in lovely, quiet location. Spotlessly clean and spacious. A little remote so a car is necessary, but within easy driving distance of many attractions and places to eat.

By Jeanette on 12-Jul-2025Perfect location if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, Stoke Abbot itself is a lovely hamlet, pubs not too long a drive away in surrounding villages, a really good one in Broadwindsor called the White Lion, run by the locals. Great spot for discovering east and west Dorset. The house is very spacious and has everything you need. Very private and self contained despite being part of the owners home. The owners were very friendly and responded very quickly to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend

By Debbie on 09-Aug-2025Gareth and Suzanne were very friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The place was very clean and very nicely decorated. There were lovely extras like local beer and biscuits for us and treats for the dog! We loved the cozy bed for Jarvis. We were lucky to have great weather and made full use of the south facing terrace and furniture. It is a wonderfully peaceful location but still has easy access to shops and local villages. Many lovely walks straight from the house. Cannot recommend this place highly enough and we’ve already told them we’ll be back next year!
