Description

Moreton House is a grade II listed period country house on the outskirts of Bideford in the beautiful north Devon countryside near the coast at Westward Ho! The house offers groups the opportunity to book the entire luxury accommodation wing of the house for groups of up to 17 (plus additional cot or child beds possible) in up to 7 bedrooms, with additional guest rooms in the older part of the house (shared bathroom) making it possible to increase the group size to 30. The main luxury accommodation is divided into four apartments, which can be taken individually or grouped in different combinations, making it possible for different households to stay separately yet close together. The apartments can be opened out to lead to a more interconnected group space if required. Perfect for large families, several families or for groups of friends to get together, and ideal for entertaining or celebrating a special occasion. There are plenty of spaces to gather everyone together, inside or out. The rooms surround a private courtyard with outdoor seating and dining areas, and guests enjoy free run of the 5 acre mature gardens, with additional BBQ and gazebo areas, fire circle and children’s play areas.

The flexible accommodation allows everyone a luxurious double or twin bedroom, each with ensuite bathroom. There are five bedrooms on the ground floor which provide direct access to the gardens, and for smaller groups we have a limited number of pet friendly rooms (for larger groups, we are sorry, no pets). The ground floor rooms provide easily accessible bathroom facilities with plenty of space, grab rails, higher level WCs and walk-in or wet room showers, though with no compromises on elegance. One of the apartment with two further bedrooms lies on the first floor above, reached via stairs, giving a little more privacy. Each apartment has its own kitchen and lounge space, to allow separate groups or generations to breakfast separately, or there is plenty of space to gather all guests together in one large kitchen-dining-lounge room, allowing everyone to mingle and dine together. In the warm weather, the courtyard is perfect for a BBQ, with tables and seating for all. For the cooler evenings, what could be nicer than a cosy log burner and space for the whole family. Book just as many rooms as you need.

Additional function rooms, party rooms, billiards room and children’s play rooms are available by arrangement, with private dining and local catering options - everything from a personal chef to cook in your kitchen to a hog roast, pizza oven, or buffet served for your special occasion. Boutique weddings, celebration dinners, team building, corporate events and family groups all welcomed. Concierge services provided by the owners, who live on site.

Moreton House is just on the outskirts of Bideford, with its pannier market, independent shops and quay with ferry to Lundy island. Minutes from the 2 mile beach of Westward Ho! Close to surfing and family friendly beaches, golf, biking trails and within easy reach of shops, pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions of Clovelly, Appledore, Hartland, Dartmoor and Exmoor, and within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere reserve.
