Description
Grade-II listed Georgian country house with private gardens near the beautiful north Devon coast.The house offers groups the opportunity to book the entire luxury accommodation wing of the house, or combinations of rooms within it, to suit different group sizes. Up to 9 bedrooms available for self-catering stays, or 14 if booked as part of a staffed or serviced event, such as a corporate stay, wedding or retreat. Smaller groups also welcome, pay only for the number of rooms required.
Pricing indication is for 9-10 bedrooms, but smaller groups need only pay for the number of rooms needed - exclusive use is available for 5 bedrooms or more.

The main luxury accommodation offers an extra large kitchen/dining/lounge room (the old servants' hall) and open courtyard BBQ area, which function as the hub for group dining and mingling, but there are also other smaller lounge areas, an indoor play room, additional kitchenette spaces and lots of flexible spaces to suit multiple families, extended or multigenerational family groups, corporate or retreat groups.
As well as communal BBQ and dining space, guests enjoy free run of the 5 acre mature gardens, with additional BBQ and gazebo areas, fire circle and children’s play areas.
The self-catering accommodation allows 9 luxurious double or twin bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom, and some with additional daybeds to increase capacity. There are five bedrooms on the ground floor which provide direct access to the gardens, and offer a pet-friendly group option. Wheelchair accessible rooms available, with no compromises on elegance. Four further bedrooms lie on the first floor above, reached via stairs, giving a little more privacy.
There is a bike/board cellar, outdoor party space and gazebo, and children's play room included. Additional function rooms, party rooms, bar and billiards room are available (additional charge) with private dining and local catering options by arrangement - everything from a personal chef to cook in your kitchen to a hog roast, pizza oven, or buffet served for your special occasion. Boutique weddings, celebration dinners, team building, corporate events and family groups all welcomed. Concierge services provided by the owners, who live on site.
Moreton House is just on the outskirts of Bideford, with its mediaeval bridge, pannier market, independent shops and quay with ferry to Lundy island. Minutes from the 2 mile beach of Westward Ho! Close to surfing and family friendly beaches, golf, biking trails and within easy reach of shops, pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions of Clovelly, Appledore, Hartland, Dartmoor and Exmoor, and within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere reserve.

Fabulous
By Sean O'D on 29-Dec-2022Fabulous! We were 15 staying in 3 apartments for the Christmas holiday. 10 adults and 5 children under 10. The apartments are gorgeous. beautifully appointed and equipped and everything including the soft play area, first class. Wholeheartedly recommended.
A great week
By Clive E on 01-Aug-2024Our extended family of 15 had a great week here. The owners, Helen & Harvey were extremely kind, helpful and friendly, both before and during our stay. The benefits of group accommodation (4 apartments) exceeded our expectations enabling both privacy, along with the bonus of shared corridor access between us. We all ate and socialised comfortably in Kingsley Suite, which is huge, and like the others clean and very well equipped. The younger children loved the playroom and grounds; marshmallows around the fire pit was a treat. The location means it is well placed to enjoy the best of North Devon. A great welcome pack. A great place to stay with a large family
By Marilyn Elizabeth Linehan on 15-Aug-2022Moreton House is a fabulous place to stay with a large family. We brought our family of 13 and were in Bucks, Housekeepers, Cooks and the Daddon suite. A big number to accomodate, but we had heaps of room. The apartments have been renovated and equipped to a very high standard. We had everything we needed and more! Our 5 children age 10 - 16 loved the indoor and outdoor play areas. Harvey and Helen were on hand whenever we needed them. We even had a cream tea for 13 provided on our arrival. Who could ask for more? we would love to return!
Very Highly Recommended
By Michael A. on 08-Sep-2021Our family group of 5 adults and 5 children took three apartments in August. Cooks, Housekeepers and Bakehouse. Those apartments make up three sides of a private courtyard with a barbecue and firepit. Housekeepers has another private area for eating, barbecuing and another firepit. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and to a high standard- bedding, furniture, appliances, ovens etc but informal enough for a boisterous set of grandchildren. Tables in Cooks and Housekeepers were large enough for us to enjoy family suppers all together.There are about 5 acres of grounds with surprise play and seating areas and all safe for children to explore. An unexpected bonus was a large internal play room with a trampoline, badminton and softplay slides which kept children from 6 to 12 endlessly amused. Another bonus was a selection of wet suits, bikes, body boards and more free to use. The hosts, Helen and Harvey were available to deal with any minor problems and to give information about the area, amusements, food stores etc. This was the best holiday rental accommodation any of us have ever had. Very highly recommended.
