In addition, The Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (with Rockcliffe just 12 miles away) is easily accessible with its sand dunes, wildlife and breath-taking views.

Wall and Lakes Holiday Cottage is perfect for walkers, cyclists, couples and small families. With large gardens to front and back and spacious private free parking for two cars. There are two bedrooms both with king size beds (the front king size can be split into two (2ft 6") small singles if required). There is a cosy front room with beautiful countryside views and warm cosy stove, good supply of fuel provided. A beautifully tiled, sparkling clean bathroom with shower over a large P shaped bath. The kitchen is very well equipment, bright and sunny with everything you need. Good free WiFi, sufficient for entertainment or work. With a sunny side porch, perfect for that morning coffee or to relax in after a day's adventure. The patio area is a real suntrap during the warm summer months. There is also a cycle store available for bikes or extra storage for guests. We find that guests with babies prefer to bring their own travel cot and baby bedding, although, we are happy to provide a high chair and baby bath, if request in advance.

A Wonderful Place To Stay

By Graham and Pam on 02-Nov-2024

A wonderful place to stay. All the best in the future :-) Lovely bungalow, Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Immaculately clean. Very comfy beds and lovely soft towels. Wonderful welcome pack and milk in the fridge very generously provided and much appreciated. THANK YOU so much :-). Very peaceful, lovely place to stay. Bungalow in excellent location for visiting places of interest and lovely walking areas. Will recommend to friends and family. Handy for Gretna Green where we had Civil Partnership Ceremony, wonderful experience and lovely day. Meal and walk at Powfoot coast and Sandpiper Café, sea view was perfect. Recommendations: Brampton Village shops have everything - Spar and Coop, pharmacy, post office, fish & chips - lovely and nearby. Lovely walk from here through Gelt Woods and babbling river, gorgeous with autumn colour - takes you to Talkin Tarn back along The Dandy. Gilsland circular walk, took in Birdoswald Roman Fort. Lanercost Priory and church worth a visit, 3 and half mile circular walk to Lanercost Priory with teashop, toilets, very nice. Powfoot coast and sandpiper café, Dumfries near Gretna.

Great Location & Fabulously Comfortable

Wonderfully equipped cottage and beautifully clean. Fabulously comfortable beds. Great location- visiting The Lake District is so easy and Hadrians Wall too. Talkin Tarn is really close too with walks, activities and even baby swans. Thank you for the welcome basket, a very nice touch.

Perfect Location for Hadrian's Wall and The Lake District

By Nicola and Jenny Smith on 03-Aug-2024

A perfect location for discovering Hadrian's Wall and The Lake District. Very comfortable accommodation within easy walking distance of the market town of Brampton with everything we needed for our self catering holiday. Just a few miles down the road is Talkin Tarn a beautiful country park with an easy circular walk of approximately 1.3 miles. Would love to return to visit all those places we didn't get time to visit in a week. Recommendations: Ullswater Steamers from Pooley Bridge, best ahead of time and there before 10.30am as limited parking. Roman Army museum and Vindolanda book online for discounts ahead of your visit. Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, although a journey time of approx 90 minutes is well worth the effort.

Another great 5 * Review :-)

By Martin and Rebecca on 24-Jul-2024

Very comfortable, well-equipped, good shops in walking distance. Lots to do without driving far, indeed some lovely walks right from the house. Host very kindly changed over linen halfway through our stay. Spotless furniture & linen; squeaky-clean bathroom; pristine kitchen; peaceful; beautiful surroundings; lots to do. 5/5 Stars :-) Stayed from 13th July 2024 to 24th July 2024

Comfortable Stay, I will be back

By Ken and Margaret Backhouse on 06-Jul-2024

A really comfortable stay in this bungalow, very clean and everything we needed. I will recommend it and we will be back again. Thank you Alan and Shirley Recommend Lanercost Priory and Houghton Hall garden centre are very good. Very good fish and chips from the town.

Perfect location, welcoming & comfortable stay

By Matthew & Margaret Norwood (Colorado, USA) on 21-Jun-2024

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. You thought of everything for a welcoming and comfortable stay. We were easily able to tour some of the Lake District and several sites along Hadrian's Wall, including Birdoswald and Housesteads. We recommend: Cedar Tree Restaurant, exquisite tasting menu and experience. The Howard Arms, Brampton and Duke of Cumberland, Castle Carrock.
