Leave ReviewAnother return stay
By Sharon on 28-Mar-2025We absolutely love staying at ferryview. Views are amazing. House v spacious and comfortable .multigenerational holiday. Fab location for everyone to potter into and around town. Love being able to nip down to the benches by the ferry in the morning with a coffee and watch the ferry come and go. Sarah is amazingly attentive and helpful, friendly owner. We will be back (again!)
A lovely week spent at Ferry View, one of many over the last few years
By Bob and Carol Finch on 08-Mar-2025We really enjoy our stays at Ferry View. It is a very short walk down to the shops and eating places in Dartmouth, and an even shorter walk to the lower ferry. This ferry is unusual, (comprising a large flat platform pulled by a tug!) basically a car ferry that also allows foot passengers, it crosses to Kingswear and one of our favourite walks is to cross the river by this ferry, then walk up the footpath on the side of the river Dart to the Upper Ferry, (again basically a car ferry that also takes foot passengers - but this one is modern) Then walk back down to the centre of Dartmouth along the other bank of the Dart. Another thing we do is catch the passenger ferry - just a small launch - out to the castle at the mouth of the river, have a coffee at the cafe there and walk back. The cottage itself is very cosy, the lounge window looks down to the ferry, the main bedroom has imposing views from its bay window across the river and down to the mouth. The kitchen is fine, well equipped, the lounge large and a dining table looking out to the river below. Plenty of room. We have stayed many times, always in spring or autumn, when the parking restrictions are not in operation in the road outside. So we have invariably parked close to the cottage - a bonus, although a car parking pass is supplied for the public car park a short distance away. We have stayed at Ferry View a number of times - so you can see we quite like it!
We have spent every Christmas at Ferry View for the last 7 years. The house is so comfortable and homely and has everything needed for a great stay.
By Tina on 21-Dec-2024There is a very good reason we keep going back to Ferry View. Apart from the obvious great position and a mazing views, Sarah and Tom are amazing hosts. They are friendly, accomadating and keep the house in a way that is welcoming. When we walk through the door is like going to a second home. The area is beautiful with lots of little shops and the harbour is a lovely place to just sit and watch the boats go by. It's very pretty place and there are boat trips to Torquay orjust down the estuary in season. There are some lovely walks to, though is set on a very steep hill behind not for the feint hearted! However the house is almost at ground level so unless you chose to you can avoid this. There are lots of eateries and the Cherub pub is a favourite of ours. It is a lovely very old pub with a working open fire place so great in the winter. There is so much too see and do with Newton Farriers just across the water which can be accessed via two car ferries. The upper ferry can be viewed from the house and is great to watch at work. We will continue to go to Ferry View and would recommend this to couples and families alike, highly recommended!
Lovely place to stay
By Amanda on 30-Nov-2024Accommodation was lovely, comfortable and views were excellent over the river Dart. This is a lovely place if you want to relax or explore the local area. There are good bus routes so you can park the car up and catch the bus or ferry to explore. Would definitely book to stay here again.

By Katie on 26-Mar-2024This was a return visit for us, we love Ferry View, perfect location, outstanding views, very well equipped accommodation, cosy and comfortable and beautifully clean. Fantastic, comfortable stay in great location
By Sharon on 26-Aug-2023Multigenerational family holiday at Ferry View in late august. The house is well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. The location is absolutely cracking a few minutes if that walk into town and a fantastic view from all three levels of the house which we enjoyed every day. We also enjoyed strolling up to the castle from the house, and also popping down the steps in front of us to reach the benches by the waterfront (in all of a minute) and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning sun. We arrived on the Saturday of the regatta and it was easy with the parking permit provided in the property to park in the park-and-ride, and then after the regatta had finished the parking with the permit in town was very easy and convenient. Sarah was an absolutely brilliant host with excellent comms and very helpful. We will be back!!
