Simply The Best

By Karen And Steve on 27-Apr-2019

This is definitely the best cottage we have ever stayed in.
So much thought and attention to detail has gone into everything. There is nothing more we could have asked for and to arrive to find a home made cake and biscuits waiting for us made it even more special.
The gardens are wonderful and the view from the balcony amazing whatever time of day or night. There is so much space inside.
We parked the car when we arrived and didn't get back in it until it was time to go home.
There is a bus stop five minutes walk up the road or you could walk to Starcross where you can take a train or even the ferry to Exmouth. There are two local pubs just a ten minute walk away in Cockwood.
Thank you both for making our holiday so special and we cannot wait to return next year

The best property we have ever stayed at.

By David on 05-Nov-2017

Linda and Michael greeted us on our arrival and showed us around the property. Linda contacted us before to ask what kind of milk we preferred! She also had baked lemon cake and biscuits which went down very well with our foster daughter. The property was spotless and the view from the main bedroom is stunning. This property is the best we have ever stayed in and it was so relaxing. We look forward to staying here again.

Fantastic immaculately clean cottage

By Bear_Claire on 07-Oct-2017

what a lovely find this was, after many years visiting Dawlish Warren we had driven past this cottage numerous times.
we booked to stay here and the owners, Linda and Michael were easy to contact and replied to any queries fast.

we were greeted by them when we arrived and Linda had made some scrummy cookies and a fantastic cake which was delicious.
After showing us around we were left to unpack and enjoy our holiday, in the knowledge that if we needed anything they were not far away.

the cottage was immaculately clean and had a lovely charm to it, also the views from the master bedroom were AMAZING!!.

THANK YOU for a lovely holiday Linda and Michael.

Wow what a find! I thought from the Internet advertisement and pictures that we had dropped on and when we actually arrived we weren't disappointed. We recieved a lovely welcome from the owners Michael and Linda and we're shown around what is a beautiful cottage. There was a home baked cake with cupcakes and cookies for the children which were a very welcome treat. Also they provided fresh fruit and milk. The cottage itself is stunning both outside and in. Space is in abundance and the cottage is spotless. The master bedroom is amazing with the most wonderful views to wake up to. Everything is thought of and the whole place is extremely child friendly. The garden is gorgeous with flowers everywhere and a lovely under cover eating area perfect for a bbq on a summers evening. All in all a fantastic base from which you can explore the many things devon has to offer that is professionally managed by people who go the extra mile, if in the area we wouldn't look at anywhere else.

Best in the West

By Pete & Julie Chivers on 17-Jun-2017

From the moment you arrive and meet your hosts Michael and Linda you feel at home. What a wonderfully welcoming couple who go out of their way to make your stay so enjoyable, the cake and biscuits were delicious as always. The views from the bedroom and balcony are amazing, we spent many a happy hour watching the deer with her baby and the swallows who were nesting in the eves feeding their young. We were lucky to have had the best weather of the year so far and ate outside in the "Love Shack" at the bottom of the garden every evening. This is the most well equipped clean and comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail is second to none and we haven't even mentioned the beautiful flowers that make this cottage so very attractive. The fresh strawberries from Mike and Linda's garden were a extra treat and very much appreciated. We are already looking forward to returning in April, unfortunately for us they were already booked for this September or we would have been back sooner to this very special place.

Immaculate Cottage

By Rachel on 06-May-2017

The cottage was immaculate, the cleanest place I've ever stayed in and the interiors finished to an extremely high standard; modern fitted fully equipped kitchen with spotless utensils, luxury en suite master bedroom with full landscape views of the countryside, stunning sunsets and relaxing birdsong, a jacuzzi bath, comfortable lounge and bright conservatory, very clean upholstery and carpets, beautiful beds and an extremely comfortable nights sleep. Easy to locate and minutes from amenities yet still a peaceful place, we felt like we were away from it all. Linda and Michael, who live in the next detached property, are very amenable and welcoming, providing home made cake and fruit on arrival. They kindly provided a lovely cot and high chair for our 8 month old baby and we found the extra utility laundry space to be perfect for us. With everything we needed and more, quite simply the best self-catering cottage we've ever enjoyed. Would love to visit again!

A fantastic find!

By Gemma on 12-Apr-2017

We have just returned from a fabulous short break at Olde Barn Gardens. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and they checked everything was okay for our extended family, from a four year old to a ninety year old! The homemade cake and cookies were delicious and a wonderful touch. In the day, we lived in the conservatory where we could enjoy the amazing gardens and countryside views. The master suite bedroom and balcony is also a fantastic space to enjoy the sunshine and everyone enjoyed the jacuzzi bath! Being very close to Dawlish it was the perfect spot. If only we could have stayed longer. Hopefully, we can return next year.

Lovely, comfortable and spotless

By Dawn on 10-Apr-2017

We have just got back from this beautiful cottage. Cake, cookies and a bowl of fruit on arrival which was lovely. Master bedroom is gorgeous with a great shower. Very pretty garden. Well equipped, everything there that you need. Perfect getaway for families, friends or couples. The only negative was the road noise but this would not stop us booking again. Cannot wait to go back!

Cosy Cottage with Lovely Views

By Phillip on 26-Feb-2017

The cottage is warm and cosy - Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torquay within easy reach. This is a great cottage with attention to detail for all the comforts of home, It is a beautiful clean laid out cottage. The master bedroom overlooks the countryside with comfortable chairs so you can sit and take in the views with the paper and morning coffee - I think we spent most of our time just taking in the views. Linda and Michael made our stay very welcoming with a home made cake, biscuits and fruit on arrival. Plenty of parking and beautiful gardens. We*ll visit again!

Break at short notice

By Roger on 09-Jan-2017

Sorry for the late review. We spent a lovely week at the house/home in early December. From start to finish our holiday break was first class. The location was peaceful and in easy reach of many local resources. The owners was on hand to help us out when the occasion arose. The property was spot on and very comfortable. The added luxuries (fruit, biscuits and cake)was a lovely gesture.I would not hesitate in promoting this cottage.Perfect came to mind. Many thanks to the owners a splendid experience.

A warm welcome, lovely cakes and views to die for!

By Dizzy Stan on 26-Dec-2016

This is a real gem of a home. The master bedroom is huge and the views are stunning! The kitchen is beautiful, looks new! There is a good range of supplies and the hosts (who live next door) are happy to help with places to go and nothing is too much trouble for them. The garden is secluded and private with an undercover eating area. Ample parking too! I can't fault the home, the location or the owners.

A little bit of heaven!

By Julie on 31-Oct-2016

We found a little bit of heaven tucked in the beautiful countryside near Dawlish. Arrived to a beautiful cottage where laid out in the dining room was a high tea. Fresh homemade cake, special little buns for the children, and homemade biscuits! A bowl of fresh fruit in the gorgeous conservatory, where we spent a lot of time chilling! Upstairs there was a fight for the main bedroom, my husband telling his Mum that it was being claimed his. He felt guilty the next morning awakening to the stunning views from the balcony, then stepped into the ensuite shower and declared, this is heaven!!! A pummelling jet shower to awaken you, then relaxing in the armchairs in the bedroom watching the sunrise. Yes, it was heaven.
It's the little things that matter on holiday, the spotlessly clean cottage, a slow cooker, ideal for leaving gammon cooking, enough pots and pans to roast a Sunday lunch, complete with Yorkshire pudding tin! Decent sharp knives, not any previous holidays have I ever found this.
Linda and Michael go above and beyond, were fantastic in welcoming the children, providing cots sides for the beds, a nightlight, high chair, melamine children's sets. We were made to feel so very welcome after a long and stressful journey there complete with hospital stay.
I'm so glad we found you and hope we can stay again, though book well in advance as our little bit of heaven has been found by others! Thank you both for such a wonderful week.

Outstanding views and Magnificent flower displays

By Pam on 23-Aug-2016

Just back from two wonderful weeks in Linda and Michael's Cottage. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this was the cleanest one we have ever stayed in. The house is very well presented, with all the mod cons you could need. The beds are very comfortable with beautiful bed linen. Stunning views from the master bedroom, and the flower display is magnificent!
Linda and Michael could not have been more accommodating. The home-made cake and biscuits for our arrival was a lovely personal touch. They welcomed us to the cottage and took the time to show us around and explain how the fabulous Jacuzzi bath worked. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Hope to be back soon!

Stunning, Spactacular and Impressive.

By Alan on 08-Nov-2015

If there is anywhere better in this area I have been unable to find it and I have been visiting Dawlish for more than 35 years. This cottage is superb in every respect, with every home comfort you could ask for, in fact I'd wager it has more than most peoples own homes. Your hosts Michael & Linda are nothing short of sublime in that nothing is to much to ask and they offer the kind of customer service you could be forgiven for thinking had long since disappeared. Michael & Linda think of things that just make you say quietly to yourself WOW! Think the London Savoy or even the Ritz it's as good as that. The cottage is sensational inside and out. Others have spoken about biscuits & cakes on arrival etcetera so we'll leave that alone and simply say to you: If you can stay at this cottage then do, you will NOT regret doing so. Our first visit will definitely not be our last. Thank you Michael & Linda for your welcome, generosity of spirit, and genuine ability to make guests feel as if they have known you for many years.
Oh! for those who need to know: There are numerous very good eateries within close reach, many places to visit and things to do, or the cottage serves as a blinding place to simply relax and recharge the batteries. (no pun intended Michael)
We look forward to staying with you again

First class!

By Michael on 12-Jul-2015

What a great week and what wonderful hosts Michael & Linda were. It's the extra touches that make things special...milk, fruit, cookies & cake upon arrival, along with the most friendly welcome (it was like we were long lost friends!)
The quality of the accommodation was first class and the views from the master bedroom were marvellous. The cottage lacked nothing and was indeed a home from home - the beds were especially comfortable. I was particularly touched to find a birthday cake on the door step!! This is a great base to see the local attractions or just chill if you wish. Plenty of places to dine nearby... Tip being ring ahead and make a reservation....our favourite being The Smugglers Inn, Dawlish which has a tasty and plentiful carvery. Thanks again Michael & Linda.

Best cottage ever!

By Maureen on 15-Jun-2015

Our 4th visit - that must say it all!!! It is like visiting family and catching up on all the news, the welcome is tremendous and Linda and Michael are two of the nicest genuine people you could wish to meet. The photographs are so true to view and the descriptions correct in every detail. The whole place is spotless when you arrive and homemade cake, cookies and fruit await as does milk tea and coffee to enjoy before you unpack. Whether you visit early or late in the season the gardens are spectacular and have to be seen to be believed. The views at the back are outstanding and just to sit and relax on the balcony late afternoon/evening is the most relaxing part of the day. The beds are so comfortable and the whole house is furnished with comfort in mind. The new addition of "The Love Shack" made early morning drinks and afternoon tea a unique experience. The local bus and train services are good to use, especially if you are senior citizens. The Smuggler inn at Holcombe on the way to Teignmouth is probably the best carvery in Devon and well worth a visit. Now just trying to decide when the best time to visit again next year - we will be back God Willing!!! Thank you so much Linda and Michael for all of the extra touches, Anniversary Card for us, Birthday card for Kris and the lovely plants. Our very best wishes to you ......Maureen and Derek
