Rough Top Cottage is high on the moors above Hebden Bridge so you will be amazed at the stunning views. Walking is fantastic with Bridestones Rocks and moorland paths on your doorstep. We supply a lovely welcome pack and personalised gifts to take away. The cottage is semi detached, 17th century old farmhouse and shares a yard with its own off road parking for 2+ cars.
We are very dog friendly with a secure garden and free use of the dog exercise paddock. Every dog gets it's very own welcome pack!

The cottage has a welcoming rustic kitchen with all mod cons to make your holiday a real pleasure. The large, pine, kitchen table easily seats 8 so you can invite friends to join you for a meal. The kitchen has patio doors out to another table for extended alfresco dining. The antique cottage dresser is filled with every piece of crockery you could need and decorated with our lovely blue and white pots. The kitchen has a large electric cooker with double oven, 4 hot plates and grill. All kitchen essentials are included – dishwasher, fridge & freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, pans and ovenware.

We supply a starter pack of tea-towel, eco friendly washing up liquid & dishwasher tablets and bin bags. In the kitchen is the recycling box for food scraps and we encourage our guests to use the council collected waste recycling or put fresh vegetable scraps in the compost bin in the garden. The iron + board are stored in the utility room alongside the washer and tumble dryer. There are USB charging points in the kitchen.

The Lounge and Games Area
The comfortable lounge has cream leather sofas plus an easy chair which can be used at the games/reading area or brought forward to sit around the fire. The flat screen colour TV + DVD player hosts a collection of DVD’s for the family to watch. The open fire which all our guest’s dogs love, comes with an initial supply of logs and more can be bought, at cost, if needed.
The games table hosts a selection of family games and the bookcase is packed with various books, many are from local authors or are about the area or country themed stories.
The table lamp has 2 USB charging points for your convenience.
The open plan wooden staircase to the upper floor goes from the corner of the lounge.

Ground Floor Single Bedroom
The cottage boasts a rustic ground floor, single bedroom with beams and it has a traditional style pine bed, bedside cabinet, fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers with a dresser mirror. This room has the quaint feature window with wooden shutters and old beamed ceiling. There is a USB charging point beside the bed.

We supply each guest in their bedrooms with soft, fluffy white towels, both hand and bath size and a facecloth. Each room has a hairdryer and hot water bottles!

Ground Floor Shower Room
The downstairs shower room comes complete with colour co-ordinated room towel and bath mats and a supply of guest soap and hand cream and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The heated towel rail will keep your towels lovely and warm whilst you shower.

Utility/store room
The ground floor has a roomy utility room with washer + tumble dryer. The floor is tiled so it's a great place to store bikes or bed down damp dogs!

The Double Bedroom
The spacious double bedroom has pine bed, bedside tables and dressing table, wardrobe and an extra hanging rail inserted in the old house walls. There is a TV and cosy rocking chair should you need a quiet time away from the family! The bedside lamps have double USB ports to charge your phones.

The Twin Bedroom
Our lovely twin bedroom with combined wardrobe/dressing table. Beautiful comfy pine slatted beds come with summer/winter weight duvets as appropriate. We pride ourselves in the standard of our beautiful bed linen! The room is complete with wardrobe and drawers with dresser top mirror.

Upper Shower Room
The upstairs shower room with quaint sloping ceiling, has a 3 piece shower, sink and toilet and comes complete with matching bath / toilet mats and towel. Lovely bergamot and lemon hand soap and hand cream, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are supplied, as are an initial supply of toilet rolls, cleaner and shower daily spray.

Your Garden
The garden is fenced to make it dog friendly, your own area with seating and picnic table and chairs. Please ask for the shade umbrella if it’s not already out and remember to fold it down when you have finished. The garden has been made dog friendly There are poo pickers and extra poo bags provided in the doggy box in the utility room. As much as we have tried we cannot guarantee that your dog will not escape! Do stay with them, sit and enjoy the views.

Dog exercise paddock
Guests with dogs have free use of the dog exercise paddock next to the garden - this is a great way to let your dogs play without having to leave the property at all!

Nature Garden
The nature garden has been left wild for the birds and small animals that frequent our gardens. Look out for the bird boxes and the swallows who return each summer to next in and around the stables. There is a bug hotel hanging on the stable wall.

Rabbits and hedgehogs frequent the garden and yard and look over the fence into the fields you may see curlew and lapwings, hares and the occasional passing deer. In the early night time hours you will hear the owls and bats which live around us and up in the rocks across the road.

Fab time had by all

By Jill Hughes on 30-Jun-2023

We stayed at Rough Top Cottage for a week and the whole process was really smooth and efficient. Our two dogs Portueges Pointers loved the paddock - we bedded these two in the tiled spacious entrance hall ideal for bigger dogs. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped plus the owners left lovely welcome gifts - at the weekend the grown up kids arrived for a big family reunion in Halifax. During our week we went to fly with witches at Pendle, to Bickerstaff where friends live [an easy trip] Hebden Bridge of course - fab time had by all

The place where dogs take their owners on holiday!

By Fergie on 16-May-2023

Had a great stay at the cottage. Our woofah loved the paddock for ball chasing and settled down in the sunshine in the garden . We watched the barn owl hunting from the rear , it was amazing. Cottage comfortable and has a relaxed feel. We have booked again for 2024 The owners are lovely and had a lovely welcome tray. .

Our favourite dog friendly getaway

By Lucinda Herbert on 08-May-2023

I think this is our fifth visit to Rough Top Cottage, and we always have a lovely relaxing time - the week went too quickly! We arrived to a table full of complimentary treats and toys for our two Spaniels, and fresh coffee, biscuits, etc for us. Sandra and Brian always go the extra mile to make us feel at home and make our stay extra special. Our two dogs, Poppy and Mabel, loved roaming in the paddock and the garden - their little faces light up when we arrive! We had some wonderful walks to the nearby bridestones and waterfall - the views are unbelievable, and it was warm enough to enjoy sitting in the garden to watch the sunset. I''ve stayed in places that tolerate dogs, but we love Rough Top because they are really passionate about providing a high quality experience for both dogs and owners.
