Quality in Tourism accredited period cottage - 4 star rated, has recently been completely refurbished to a very high standard. Late availability: Aug 18th 3 x nights £810 / Sept 25th 7 x nights £810 / Oct 9th 7 x nights £510 or 3 nights £375 / Oct 16th 7 x nights £806 or 3 nights £605.

This lovely large period property is perfectly situated, right in the middle of the town, a stone's throw from the beach, harbour and the variety of quaint shops, pubs and restaurants. Curlews has recently been the subject of a major renovation and is decorated in a bright, fun and contemporary, nautical theme throughout.

This large Cornish stone cottage was built c. late 1500's and is spread over three floors. It is located in the heart of the quaint fishing town of Looe, set back in a quiet square on the East of the town (the old medieval market square), between the beach, the quaint streets and the harbour. You are literally on top of it all, there's no need to use the car once you arrive! One parking space is provided on the seafront, just a one minute walk from the property.

The property offers three large bedrooms (two double bedrooms and a large twin room with full-sized single beds), a large luxury shower room and an additional cloakroom. The open-plan living area is equipped with a luxury fitted kitchen and integrated appliances, state-of-the-art Optimyst real flame-effect electric stove, comfortable sofas and a dining table with chairs to seat six. There is full central heating throughout the property and constant hot water. The cottage is also equipped with BT infinity ultra-fast speed Wi-Fi and has a large flat screen multi-media TV with Amazon Prime Fire Stick, featuring films, music, games and much more, which are all included in the cost.

Great care and attention has been paid to the decorating and design of the interior. Packed with interesting nautical objects and pictures, you really will feel like you are on holiday by the sea and being very well equipped, you have everything you need for a wonderful and relaxing break at Curlews.

Looe is steeped in history, being famous for its smuggling heritage. You can even see the exit of a real smuggling tunnel in the building across the square from Curlews! Legend even has it that Jesus took a trip a by boat to Looe Island with his father Joseph as part of a pilgrimage (this was featured in an episode of 'Time Team'). Find out about this and Looe's fascinating history in the town's museum (opposite Curlews).

Looe is perfectly located for exploring the joys of Cornwall (it's close to Plymouth, so easy to reach and a perfect base to explore both Cornwall and Devon), is extremely easy to reach by London from train (a direct link runs from Paddington to Liskeard, with a very pretty short train journey alongside the river on the branch line to Looe), meaning that a car is not actually necessary to enjoy a break at Curlews. The town itself is very picturesque with its old quaint streets and historic architecture, lovely sandy beach and beautiful harbour and river and it nestles in amongst some of the country's finest landscapes, slap bang in the middle of the stunning South West Coastal Path.

A summer holiday in Looe can be a delight, but this part of the country truly is beautiful any time of the year. In fact a winter break in this part of the country gives you the beauty (if not more beautiful - it is really peaceful and tranquil in the winter) without all the hustle and bustle of the summer months. Did you know that towards the end of February it gets darker a whole hour and half later than in London - reason in itself to take a winter break here!

Prices are inclusive of all linen (other than towels, which can be provided upon request), utilities and seafront parking. Well-behaved dogs are welcome (ground floor only) by appointment.

Fantastic stay in Looe

By Sarah on 12-Feb-2017

Lovely property that has been decorated beautifully in a seaside theme. Fantastic newly fitted bathroom. The children loved their bedroom with games and toys and the general attention to detail in the property was great. Comfortable beds and lounge area. Really couldn't fault our stay here.....will be returning!

Perfect location, parking clean and tidy

By Averil G on 17-Dec-2016

Needed a get away long weekend to relax, Curlews Cottage was perfect. Even in November with the rain it was cosy close to shops, pubs and restaurants and harbour. We were four adults on a get away break and would recommend and stay here again ourselves. Owner and housekeeper very accommodating.

Perfect location

By Vicki S on 06-Nov-2016

Great little cottage, very cosy and had everything we needed for our weekend break. Lovely touches like buckets and spades for the beach and games for indoors when the weather wasn't that good! Right in the heart of Looe so eating out, shopping and getting around was super easy, especially with two young children. It is literally less than a minute walk from the car park and beach so no need to drag luggage very far. Would definitely recommend for a small family, does sleep up to six but it might get too cosy if you were staying for more than a few days! It was doggy friendly too so will take our dog next time :)

Fabulous, central, well equipped cottage.

By Kath S on 02-Aug-2016

Just enjoyed our first stay Curlews with our dog, Jake. What a wonderful find. Central to East Looe and all it's amenities yet the location was peaceful too. The cottage is very well equipped - (great to have a washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher in a cottage) with some very thoughtful additions such as cutlery you can take to the beach, and towels especially to wipe doggy paws, which I have not come across before in over 20 years of staying in Looe. All credit to Julie, she has created a wonderful place to stay, and credit too, to the housekeeping staff as it was immaculate when we arrived! We will definitely be visiting again!

Lovely property in the heart of East Looe

By Alan N on 16-Jul-2016

Curlews is a very charming property located in the heart of East Looe and convenient for the beach. It's very well equipped and the private parking space is a bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Curlews and can only recommend it to others.

Curlews is a very clean and comfortable cottage. We felt at home instantly. It is fully equipped with top notch appliances and accessories. The beds and bedding are exceptionally comfortable. Curlews is so central you don't need to go elsewhere (although I'm sure you will as nearby Polperro, Talland Bay, Black Rock etc are a must). We will go back with no hesitation. Julie (the owner) responded very quickly and pleasantly to our enquiries. The car park space is an added bonus as parking is expensive and restricted at times. Carol and Bill Stevens

Excellent and a well deserved 4 star.

By Rebecca S on 26-Jun-2016

The property was immaculately clean and in a brilliant location. We particularly liked the fire in the sitting room and the beds were very comfortable. The whole cottage was very well equipped and we had everything we needed. The parking space was a big plus as parking in Looe is not easy.

Beautiful refurbishment to the downstairs, cottage is warm, welcoming at true home from home

By Dee S on 25-Jun-2016

Cottage has all you need for your holiday, location ideal, plenty of room for us, 4 adults, 1 14 month old baby, 1 dog, never felt under each other's feet. The recent refurbishment to the down stairs now finishes off the cottage, the owner has themselves a wonderful property, very jealous! 2 nd year of booking, would definitely look to book again in the future

Delightful centrally located cottage

By Dave on 26-Apr-2016

This is an excellent property in a perfect location, a very short walk from the seafront and some wonderful restaurants. Although compact, the cottage is very well presented and clean throughout. The welcome pack was very useful, but for any essentials, the local stores are only 2-3 minutes walk away. We were also very lucky with the weather for the time of year. The cottage contains everything required for a relaxing break and the Wi-fi was more reliable than at home. The only thing to be weary of is the staircase which is steep and narrow, but adds to the character of the house. Also good practice for some of the coastal footpaths! Highly recommended.

A pretty cottage in the middle of town, great for exploring Looe.

By Robert D on 12-Apr-2016

A very pleasant and well equipped cottage. It was homely, welcoming and comfortable. The bedrooms were thoughtfully furnished and the small decorations gave it the seaside atmosphere. The children's bedroom was particularly charming and had lots of toys to entertain them. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. The location was perfect for us, a quiet little street in the middle of town. It was nice to park your car and not use it at all. Everything we wanted was nearby.

What a joy to walk into. The lounge is bright and airy. Comfy sofas and lovely interior. Fully fitted kitchen with everything you could need. Lots of nice little touches all over the cottage. Absolutely spotless. This is a perfect base to enjoy Looe. Close to all the amenities, but down a lovely cobbled street away from the hustle and bustle. Wish it was mine.

Perfectly situated seaside cottage

By on 11-Jan-2016

The information provided before the stay was comprehensive and on arrival we were delighted to find a Christmas tree and a welcome pack of goodies. The cottage has been decorated tastefully and in keeping with its seaside location. You are right in the heart of Looe and car parking is provided a two minute walk away. Everything we needed for our stay was provided and we had no problems at all. The stairs are steep which wasn't a problem for us but could potentially be if you have very small children or anyone with mobility issues.

Bijou and Beautiful

By on 24-Oct-2015

What you want from a holiday is lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting. This is certainly what met us when we took a week's holiday in Julie's cosy cottage. As a party of four people, aging between 20 and 60, we fitted nicely into Curlews and loved the location. The cottage was tastefully decorated; had comfortable beds with lovely linen and had a well equipped kitchen. In fact at every turn there were little touches that made our stay stress free and memorable. The steep staircase with the rope banister was not difficult to negotiate and just what you would expect in a quaint seaside property. The property is metres from the shops and the sea front, but situated down a small street, it felt secluded. It was great to be able to pop out to get some fresh vegetables for dinner and then pop out again for another forgotten ingredient. We loved the shops in Looe with their friendly keepers; had a cream tea; took the bus to Polpero and walked back along the coastal path (approximately 4 hours) and no trip to Cornwall would not be complete without painting a pot.
