Welcome to The Old Rectory at St Keyne In South Cornwall.

********************************************** ********************************************** ********************************************** ********************************************** ***
COVID-19 Update:

We've taken the decision after a lot of thought and deliberation to not open the cottage for the remainder of this year and see where we are in 2021.

It doesn't feel right to us to see people travelling all over the country still and Cornwall has got off very lightly in terms of both infections, cases and deaths.

And we really want to keep it that way with the very high average age and high percentage of people with serious underlying illnesses.
Hopefully we will see some of our regular customers again in 2021 when times are better for us all.

********************************************** ********************************************** ********************************************** ********************************************** ***

Our cottage, The Coach House is a single storey detached old stone building around 270 years old and belongs to and is set in the grounds of the Old Rectory of St. Keyne which dates back to around 1750. It is located in a quiet and tranquil location away from the main road, away from any neighbours (apart from us!) with stunning views over the valley. Please note, the pin location on the map is not accurate. We are approx 5 miles north of Looe and around 8 minutes by car or bus. It is displayed here as otherwise it doesn't appear in any search results on the site!

The Coach House was originally built to house the horse(s) and carriage for the Vicar of our local church and was converted into accommodation in 1995. In 2011 we went about giving the cottage a needed second transformation and took the opportunity to upgrade the property to include a new luxury kitchen, wet room, flooring and total redecoration throughout. The accommodation comprises of a lounge area, kitchen/diner, luxury wet room with a luxury rain shower and a light and airy double bedroom.

Detached, and situated far enough away from any other buildings, the Coach House offers peace and tranquillity. A private patio can be used to enjoy the lovely views across the valley and makes it the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine.

The Coach House has dedicated parking, however, there is ample parking in the grounds of the Rectory which our guests are very welcome to make use of.

Along with the luxury kitchen and wet room, the cottage has Wi-Fi with high speed Fibre Broadband (around 25mb), an internet high definition TV with catch up TV a blu ray player, radio, CD player with ipod docking station.
The kitchen has new luxury appliances including an electric fan oven, gas hob, small fridge with freezer compartment, dish washer as well as a DeLonghi Nespresso coffee machine.

For every stay you will be greeted with a customised generous welcome pack to help out with the first day or so which typical includes:
Quality bottle of wine, local beer, local butter/spread, local milk, bread, local soft drinks/cider, biscuits, nibbles, eggs, jams and honey.
Tea, n espresso capsules, coffee, sugar, salt are all included for your stay.

A BBQ is provided for those wanted to cook outside when the weather is welcoming enough.

Inside you'll find everything you should need for your stay in Cornwall.
We include a generous luxury welcome pack with wine, local beer, local juices, eggs, bread, milk, local butter, biscuits, nibbles & jams to name a few.

Lounge
Spacious leather corner sofa with tables to place your drinks and books etc.
Samsung 40' Internet TV. DAB Radio, Bluray/DVD player, Ipod Docking station, CD player.
WiFi connected to 25mb fibre broadband. Information, maps, books and guides of the local area.

Kitchen
Luxury solid oak cabinets and oak drawers from Burbidge topped off with granite worktops and a blanco undermount stone sink and brushed stainless steel tap.
AEG appliances throughout, Electric Oven, Gas Hob, extractor fan, fully integrated undercounter fridge with small freezer compartment and fully integrated dishwasher. Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster, microwave. Good range of pans, oven trays, cutlery & utensils.

Wetroom
In the recently equipped wet-room you'll find a new shower area with a powerful waterfall type shower head on mains pressure. Deep Fluffy Towels on the Towel Rail and shelf.
New sanitary-ware. Sink with shelf and illuminated mirror over and large WC with soft close lid.
The wetroom does have a window so has plenty of light.

Bedroom
Double bedroom with cast iron double bed (not King Size) with 2000 pocket mattress and luxury bed linen.
Small oak wardrobe, oak chest of drawers with mirror & 2 bedside tables. Window and large French doors. Hair-dryer.

Please Note: The cottage only sleeps 2 adults. That means unfortunately that we aren't in a position to allow any children or babies as the cottage's only bedroom is not suitable.
Please Note: We also have a strict over 35's only policy.

Outside
Large patio with hardwood table and chairs overlooking the fields and valley.
BBQ and parasol are available if required on request.
You can wander around the orchard, have lunch there, wander up the lane and into the paddock before crossing the fields if you wish.

Pets
If you have a small sized dog (e.g. cockapoo) and want to stay at The Old Rectory we would consider your request.
Please get in touch and we can discuss the requirements.

Change Over Day: For the Summer months and week long stays we have a choice of change over days. This is can either be a Friday or Saturday and depends on the bookings already taken around your dates.

Other
We have a separate building and room next to the main house where you can leave wet clothing, muddy boots and so on.
We will be renovating this area shortly and making available to guests:
A washing machine
Tumble dryer
Large Fridge Freezer

Wonderful holiday in the the old rectory cottage

By Thomas M on 20-Sep-2018

We have enjoyed a wonderful week here. The cottage is top notch and facilities high end. The views and locality second to few. We look forward to coming back. Everything about the cottage and our stay was absolutely fantastic! Chris and Jags were welcoming and kind, providing a welcome pack when we arrived that was a delight.

A comfortable cottage in an ideal location

By Jackie S on 23-Jul-2018

The Coach House was comfortable and peaceful. It was well equipped and spotless, and the welcome pack was much appreciated. Chris and Jags were excellent hosts; there to give advice, but not intrusive. It was in an ideal location to enjoy exploring the Cornish coast, and lovely countryside. After busy days out, we were happy to spend most evenings relaxing in the cottage with a glass of wine. There are many places still to visit so I think we will have to return. Many thanks, Chris and Jags.

Brilliant - Thoroughly Recommended

By PS46 - Churchtown on 17-Jul-2018

This was our second visit to The Coach House and we were not disappointed! Our hosts Chris and Jags are lovely people - friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they did everything possible to ensure that our stay was an enjoyable one - which of course it was It is set in the countryside, but also very close to many attractions, including of course the beach We can not recommend the property highly enough and will definitely be back Thanks both

One of the best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed in!

By Benita P - Cornwall on 06-Apr-2018

Have stayed in many holiday cottages in the UK over the years & this has to be one of the nicest, cleanest and most well equipped we have stayed in. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, Chris & Jags, so very kind and welcoming. Would highly recommend this beautiful retreat, have left feeling rested and batteries recharged. If possible I would give it 11 out of 10...just to get the point across!

Fab Location for a luxury break in Cornwall

By Ajit Rayet on 22-Jan-2018

We have just spent 4 days as a last minute short break in Cornwall and wow, how lucky we were the Old Rectory Cottage was free due to a cancellation. The actual cottage is lovingly maintained and pretty much all of it seems like it is almost new still. It was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The location is lovely, tranquil and so peaceful and is brilliantly situated to be able to explore the Cornish coastline and countryside. There is so much to do within an hour's radius that you will never be short of ideas. Jags and Chris are very welcoming and mega friendly and always helpful and happy to offer advice, which we used on numerous occasions! We totally recommend it to anybody and looking forward very much to a return visit sometime next year.

“Every thing that we had hoped for plus much much more”

By Peter & Jackie on 22-Jan-2018

We have just spent a fantastic week at the Old Rectory Coach House, the location could not be better, quietly set at the end of a private driveway with uninterrupted views of open countryside, ideal for the end of day glass of wine and to watch the sun go down, well away from the road but, if you are
'Bus Passers' like us, there is easy access to a good bus service to the nearby seaside villages of Looe and Polperro and also a train if you prefer.

The property has every quality high end modern conveniences that anybody could wish for. Our host Chris and Jags are lovely warm and welcoming people and certainly went the extra mile to make our stay so enjoyable. I could not end this review without a mention of the welcome pack, everything for our immediate needs plus much more and even a midweek top up, something we have never experienced before, for a relaxing break within beautiful surroundings with first class accommodation this is the place to go, we couldn't wait to book again in July.
Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks time. Peter and Jackie.

“Perfect Location for a Break in Cornwall”

By Peter on 22-Jan-2018

We have just returned after a wonderful week at The Old Rectory Cottage in Cornwall

The cottage itself is beautifully maintained and is situated a few miles outside of Looe, which makes it ideally placed for exploration of the lovely Cornish coastline and countryside. There is so much to do within an hour's radius that you will never be short of ideas

The owners, Jags and Chris are welcoming and helpful and always happy to offer advice, which we were very happy to take!

We would recommend it to anybody and are looking forward very much to a return visit.

5 stars and more

By Deb H on 22-Jan-2018

If you want a luxury cottage, in a beautiful setting with warm and welcoming hosts then look no further than The Coach House. I would have no hesitation in agreeing with all the 5 star comments of recent reviews. This really is a little gem of a cottage and it was a pleasure to sit out in the evening with a drink and a good book after a day exploring the likes of Cotehele, Lanhydrock and the South West coastal path.

Chris and Jags, our hosts, were so helpful and friendly and we valued their knowledge of the local area in planning our days. The very generous and thoughtful welcome goodies were much appreciated and nothing was too much trouble. When we come back to Cornwall we know exactly where we will be staying.

Thanks so much Chris and Jags for a lovely week.

An excellent choice .

By Valerie W on 22-Jan-2018

Strongly recommend a stay at the The Coach House - the property is of excellent standard and very comfortable and the 'welcome pack' after a long journey is so well received - no need to rush out to the shops for supplies. Chris and Jags, the owners. are so warm and welcoming and are on hand if you have any problems. The view across the valley from the property is amazing and you will not hear a sound expect for maybe the sheep in a distant field. We were able to explore the whole of North Cornwall and the South from Megavissey to the Devon border with easy from The Coach House. For a holiday to remember you will not be disappointed with The Coach House.

We received the warmest of welcomes to The Coachouse, which is presented to such a high standard that we were happy to spend our days exploring and then return to the property each evening to relax. The views are stunning and we can't wait to return.

Cornish Delight

By Perrie B on 22-Jan-2018

The Coach House is a delightful cottage well located for visiting most of Cornwall. It is equipped to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, easy to relax in and has a lovely little garden overlooking fields and the valley. Chris and Jags are wonderful hosts, we were provide with a super welcome hamper, the best we have ever had, luxury chocolates and they were always on hand with tips on where to visit. We hope to visit again and would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Luxurious cottage, fabulous hosts

By Sharon S on 22-Jan-2018

What a fantastic cottage! Beautifully furnished in a very peaceful location but easily accessible to the coast. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and more! Little touches like dishwasher tablets, cleaning cloths and wrapping foil... All brought from home but were available in the cottage. The welcome pack was awesome... From jam to savoury snacks , homemade flapjacks and not forgetting the wine! Loved being asked our preferences for bread, milk, butter and wine. Such a thoughtful gesture and one we've never been asked before in all the properties we've stayed in. Chris and Jags are delightful hosts and always on hand if you need them but without being 'in your face'. Was lovely to chat with them about life in general plus what we had got up to during the day.

The weather was gorgeous and we were very busy during the day so it was lovely to come home weary from our adventures and relax in luxury. Would highly recommend the Coach house and hope to revisit again in the future. Don't change anything Chris and Jags...it's perfect!

Super Ferienwohnung

By Mattias C on 22-Jan-2018

Peace and tranquillity in Cornwall

By Andrew K on 22-Jan-2018

The cottage is set within beautiful Cornish countryside away from modern day hustle and bustle but only a short distance from many places of interest. The cottage has all the " mod cons " that you will ever need and is very comfortably furnished. The welcome pack was exceptional and gave us a great start to our holiday, especially the wine and beer!! We would definitely recommend The Coach House.
