A lovely house in a perfect spot in the village.

We stayed just for 2 nights but would have loved it be longer. The house was lovely & clean with plenty of seating & a well equipped kitchen. It was easy to find & convenient for good pubs, local shops & the beach.

Beautiful House in a Beautiful location. We have stayed in Staithes for many years now and this was an amazing find. The house was spacious and contained all equipment needed for a relaxing location The sweet shop was an added bonus and the locals were very friendly. It was a short walk to the beach or a hop across the jetty to do some crabbing Would definitely recommend and would stay again

Wonderful location, fabulous property. Very well equipped and spacious. Attention to detail was brilliant. Lovely touches to welcome you, fresh flowers, bottle of wine, chocolates, fire all set. Could not fault this in any way. We will definitely be back.
Gorgeous and spacious bolthole within minutes of the sea

We had a wonderful winter stay in the Pelican - it was really comfortable with some nice homely touches and great mid-century style furniture - all within walking distance of everything Staithes has to offer. Emma was easy to contact and made sure we had everything we needed, including a cot for our baby. We're planning to return in the summer months as this place is really special.
Lovely House in the Heart of a Traditional Fishing Village
By Miriam on 17-Dec-2016
e had a long weekend, seven adults (plus a large dog) fitting comfortably in a traditional yet very large, recently renovated house. Right in the heart of the "Old Village" of Staithes, handy for three great pubs who all do great food and which are all dog friendly. The owners had left lovely welcoming gifts to even more enhance our stay. Day trips out to Whitby and Saltburn all worth it despite this being December. Lovely to escape the pre-Christmas frenzy and relax with nearest and dearest. Can't wait till next time and will definitely recommend to friends.
The Pelican is like your home from home, styled by an interior designer just next to the sea!

The first thing you notice about this place is just how absolutely stunning everything is, I am convinced the owners are designers!! The moment you walk into the house, your eyes are drawn to the lovely log fire and the teal sofa's in the living room. A fantastic large table in the dining room was perfect for dinner in the evening and the kitchen that really does have everything you need. The lovely bottle of wine and chocolates on the table along with treats for the dogs, milk and eggs in the fridge and a wonderful folder with information about the house was such a nice surprise. From coffee beans to garlic press, the kitchen is perfect for cooking up a storm, and we did, taking full advantage of the fantastic butchers just down the road. Even the little courtyard at the back has been tastefully dressed and it was lovely to sit out there with a glass of wine. Although both the George and the Cod and Lobster are moments away! The bedrooms are all equally stunning with well chosen bed linen and all are of a good size with some lovely views overlooking Cowbar. Having two bathrooms was a real bonus when there are a few of you and both are excellent. Two things that are worth a mention, the fantastic speaker in the dining room that pairs up with your bluetooth and the stunning art collection. We were all impressed with the Art, some really amazing work in this house. We just loved the place and will all return again, in fact having stayed in a number of cottages in Staithes over the years I can now say that the Pelican is the best place we have ever stayed in. I am a little hesitant to say this, as the danger is it will become so popular that I wont' be able to return, but then again, you can't keep a place like this a secret for long. Well done Emma & Guy - you have created such a gem of a house!!!
A 5* place to stay and visit
By Kirsty on 02-Jun-2016
The Pelican was everything and more. We were 2 family's of 4 staying for a long weekend in May. The service from the owners from start to finish was excellent, answering any questions and giving us recommendations for eating out and parking. There communication was always proactive, no chasing from us at all. The accommodation was fantastic, very clean, high quality furnishings with additional extras such as the BBQ, the coffee and coffee machine, the blue tooth speaker and the lovely bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival!.(the list goes on) It is in a really good location, close walk to the harbour, pubs, restaurants and lovely craft shops and gallery's We spent sometime on the small beach in Staithes on the Sunday night playing rounders with the set from the Pelican - see, they have thought of everything. The weather was not great when we were there and used the log burner in the house which was easy to use with all the wood, matches there. Although there is no parking outside the house, this was not a problem as you can drop stuff off and park in one of the car parks around. We used the free carpark which was perfect, up a steep hill but a beautiful view on the way. We would highly recommend this place, suitable for all and a big thank you to the owners.
