A Little Bit About Scarborough, United Kingdom
A holiday rental in Scarborough will enable you to experience dramatic cliffs and castle headland, award-winning beaches, historic harbour, great family attractions, booming town centre and a huge choice of cuisine. Scarborough is a perfect location to explore Dalby: Yorkshire's Great Forest, The North York Moors National Park, the Wolds and the dramatic scenery of the Yorkshire Coast.
Scarborough has a north and south side to it with the South Bay Beach being its busiest. This has fine, soft sand and calm bathing water sheltered from the North by the Castle Headland, the arching bay almost faces South by the time it reaches the harbour, creating a fabulous sun trap.
South Bay Beach is close to the town centre and the amenities, shops, theatres, amusement arcades, eateries and together with the harbour make this beach a favourite with visitors. The tide does not reach the promenade very often so you can usually find a spot to sunbathe and build sand castles. There is ample parking at the Underground Car Park next to the beach under the Spa Bridge along with parking on the West Pier, Spa, Spa Approach Road, Valley Road, Ramshill Road, Marine Drive and limited parking on the Harbour and in car parks behind the Harbour.
The North Bay Beach is Scarborough's Blue Flag beach, meaning it is one of the best in Europe for cleanliness both on the sand and in the water, facilities and safety. The North Bay Beach is where you will find Scarborough's Sea-life Centre and a Beach Centre with state-of-the-art facilities and new beach showers as well as first aid and lifeguards. At low tide you can explore rock pools near the Sea-life Centre. Be sure to check on tide times when on the North Bay Beach.
There is ample parking at Marine Drive and The Sea-life Centre. Close by is Northstead Manor Gardens and the North Bay Miniature Railway.
