Absolutely perfect cottage! a real gem!

By Alfieboy66 on 30-Sep-2020

This is the most perfect cottage if you want to get away from it all in total peace and tranquility. Only a stones throw from the Donkey sanctuary and Sidmouth and a perfect base to travel further afield to Lyme Regis, Beer and Exmouth. The cottage is excellent - every amenity you could wish for and so comfortable too. Great for dogs and for spotting the wildlife right outside your door. You really won’t be disappointed!

Contemporary holiday cottage

By Kgoodier on 04-Sep-2020

We have just had our third holiday in this beautiful part of the country. This cottage is, quite simply, a wonderful ‘home from home’. On arrival it’s so reassuring to know that when you walk in it will be clean, tidy and above all welcoming (the wine and Percy pigs are much appreciated). Jacqui and Garry have thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need, to make your stay perfect - including comprehensive lists of places to visit, places to eat and maps of great walks. We absolutely love staying here and being able to bring our fur babies is such a wonderful bonus We will be back here next May for another recharge of our batteries (hopefully the Donkey Sanctuary will be open by then). We really can’t recommend this place enough - a great little gem in superb location. Thank you Jacqui and Garry for all your hard work - we are truly grateful xx

Fabulous family and dog friendly holiday

By Coleman1985 on 04-Sep-2020

We have just spent a week at Kokopelli and we have had the most wonderful time. I highly recommend it as the perfect place to holiday by the sea with a dog and a young family. The cottage is very private with a large grass area for the kids and dogs to play and there are lots of garden games for everyone to have fun. The cottage itself is like a home from home with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The owners have thought of all the little extras and details that make your stay even more special. We particularly enjoyed the baskets of toys for both our dog and for our kids which kept everyone entertained! The area itself is very dog and family friendly. We visited Sidmouth, Seaton and Exmouth beach which all have dog friendly area's. Our son loved playing on the beach, building sandcastles and hunting for crabs in the rock pools. We took a ride on the Seaton tram which also allow dogs to ride. We spent a day at digger land and also Axe wildlife park which were both a short drive from the cottage. In fact there is so much to do here for kids and dogs that we completely ran out of time to do everything on our list before we had to head home. We cant wait to come back again. We have definitely found our happy place.

Just perfect

By Lucy Scates on 21-Aug-2020

It’s the first time we have hired a cottage in this area, Jacqui could not have been a better host, she prepared us before we arrived with a heap of fantastic ideas of where to go and when we arrived we were blown away with just how spotlessly clean the cottage is, we knew instantly the attention to detail when we noticed a hand sanitizer at the front door, safety comes first and Jacqui has helped support that in every which way she can!You would really struggle to find something that wasn’t here for you, a fully equipped kitchen, throws for the sofa, iron, hairdryer, the list is endless, due to Covid19 we didn’t use the games, books or DVDs but we had so much to do during the day we rarely had enough energy for more than a game of cards and a hot chocolate in the evenings. The position along the Jurassic Coast is perfect for exploring this part of Devon, we went out every day, we visited Jacob’s Ladder Beach, Peak Hill, Sidmouth, Branscombe, Beer, which are all less than 15 minute drive away, then a little further we went on a dolphin spotting cruise at Exmouth and enjoyed fish and chips overlooking the sea, all beaches have a dog friendly area and so many pubs and restaurants are too. We had friends staying at Chesil Beach in Weymouth and had a day with them which was about 1 1/4 hours away. Kokopelli has in our opinion the primary position as is completely private even though in communal grounds, we have relaxed and recharged after a challenging 2020, thank you Kokopelli, we will be back!

Beautiful cottage

By Laurab on 01-Aug-2020

We were one of the first lucky families to stay here after Covid restrictions eased. We stayed with 2 children and our 2 dogs. The cottage is beautifully clean, comfortable, fantastically equipped (we had everything we needed and more) and the owners clearly really care. It’s in a corner of a holiday park so isn’t overlooked at all and quiet and relaxing but with lovely local walks for the doggies (including a 40 minute walk from the door down to a local beautiful pebble beach). There is so much to do in the area that we couldn’t fit it all in to a week even with some things still closed due to Covid. The donkey sanctuary is big and lovely walks and donkeys. Lots of gorgeous beaches within a few miles. Many are pebble and the boys spent hours collecting pebbles and throwing them in the water. Sidmouth is lovely and sandy and shallow when the tide is out. Good for rock pooling and walking the dogs, Ice cream on the promenade and exploring the shops and cafes. Seaton, beer, branscombe, Lyme Regis and Exmouth all lovely (Exmouth is sandy and a real seaside town). So much for the children(Bicton gardens, diggerland and bear trail nearby) and almost all dog friendly. Our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful with suggestions to do, leaving us welcome treats and extra cleaning and precautions for Covid. The cottage is light and bright with a lovely patio and large lawn. The garden isn’t enclosed but this didn’t cause us any problem at all and the owners provide tethers and long leads (and much other dog accessories) if you need them. We managed without mostly though as the dogs were so tired after being out all day with us they never wandered far from the cottage. Such a lovely and well needed holiday. We’ll be back.

Perfect

By Carole Tucker on 12-Jan-2020

The bungalow has everything you could possibly want. Very thoughtful touches awaited us on our arrival - flowers, wine, chocolates. Jacqui was great at answering any questions I had and went out of her way to ensure my Mum and I had a lovely stay. It's the perfect place to stay to explore Devon and Dorset. We loved it. Thank you Jacqui.

Wow just wow

By Christine S on 24-Oct-2019

My friend and I wanted a dog friendly, quiet place to stay close to the Donkey Sanctuary and we certainly struck lucky with Kokopelli. Jacqui and Garry's attention to detail in making sure any visitor to the bungalow would have all the home from home facilities and comforts was faultless. The information pack they produced recommending walks, places to eat etc proved to be invaluable if unfamiliar with the area .... even information how to use the washing machine was readily available; all in all every eventuality was covered. Kokopelli is situated in the quietest of locations, the only "noise" came from the braying of the donkeys, which was so lovely. The only downside, if there has to be a downside is the mobile signal is not great but there is wifi. The bungalow itself is spacious, clean, warm, comfortable, has fab decor and very helpful hosts, what more could you want ... just book it you wont be disappointed ... oh and a car is advisable!

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

By ChrisS on 23-Oct-2019

Couldn't have wished for a better place to say! Peaceful, clean, literally home from home. Owners paid attention to every detail, including dog feeding and water bowl. There were full instructions for anything mechanical in the property, the beds and bedding were top notch and decor was cleverly thought out too. It's 5 minutes to the Donkey Sanctuary (what a treat), it's impossible to stay in the property and not visit. A car is a must to visit all the places and eateries the Owners have recommended, the list is comprehensive suggesting places for every budget. All in all any visitor won't be disappointed!

Perfect holiday

By Paula O on 22-Oct-2019

We had a fantastic holiday ( even when it’s raining ) great location, next door to the donkey sanctuary, lots of lovely walks, long and short and many places that allow dogs. The cottage itself, you couldn’t ask for anything more, modern, spacious and very comfortable. The owners go over and above in making your holiday a special one offering so much information to help you on your way. Most definitely a place to stay. My family consists of my husband and myself, my 20 year old daughter who has special needs and our 9 month cockapoo.

Best holiday

By Jane B on 27-Sep-2019

Our daughter and husband have stayed at Kokopelli twice in the last two years for a long weekend to celebrate her birthday in March. We popped down overnight as arranged this year. We were very impressed with the set up of the cottage and how lovely it felt even in March!! So we booked a holiday for the third week of September this year something we've never been able to do due to my working in a school situation. Our daughter, husband and baby granddaughter joined us and our dog mid week. It worked perfectly!! There is enough space not to feel on top of each other. There was a travel cot for our granddaughter to use. We had the best holiday we've had for years! We will probably return next year!! Thank you Jacqui and Garry

amazing stay

By Kathryn C on 12-Jul-2019

Myself and my family and three dogs stayed here the end of June, Kokopelli is a beautiful home. The cottage is extremely clean and so well equipped, The cottage is very light and airy and has beautiful grassed areas surrounding it that our 3 dogs loved. The cottage had so many lovely little touches from dog treats , wine on arrival, board games, lots of books, an lots of doggy things such as throws and dog leads, dog bowls etc .This cottage is excellent for persons with or without dogs however. The beds were very comfortable and everything was so pristine but also very homely. Wifi was excellent ,The owner was very exceptional with communications throughout the booking process,We were sent lots of information regarding the cottage and surrounding areas. The cottage itself is in a lovely area within a short drive to many beautiful places. We visited Lyme Regis, Branscombe , Budleigh Salteton and Beer, it is also a short drive to some lovely oldy wordly pubs. We also done the seaton tramride and stopping at colyton and colyford which are pretty places. We have stayed in a number of cottages with our dogs and this one was one of the best . Loves the fact that we were allowed to take three dogs also . The donley sanctuary next door is a wonderful charity and a lovely place to visit . Will def return in the future.

Wonderful Dog friendly Cottage

By Evie K on 06-Jul-2019

We all enjoyed a lovely holiday at Kokopelli over Easter. The owners are fantastic, brilliant at answering any queries over email and provided heaps of local information. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, well located in a quiet spot next to the donkey sanctuary. There is heaps of space around the property to sit outside and have a game of ball with your dog, Woody absolutely loved it, along with watching the rabbits in the evening... The walk to the local beach is lovely, but is quite hard going on the way back , as it's mainly uphill. Plenty of places to visit, we loved the beach at Exmouth, Seaton Trams and Pecorama at Beer. Also the steam railway at Totnes is worth a visit, if you like that sort of thing :-). All in all an amazing place to stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommed it to anyone wishing to visit this part of Devon.

Lovely holiday cottage, perfect location.

By Dawn T on 16-Jun-2019

his is a wonderful dog friendly holiday cottage in a perfect location especially if you love donkeys. Plenty of near by walks including those around the donkey sanctuary plus several dog friendly pubs all of which we found to be friendly with excellent service and food. Above all the cottage was clean and well appointed and the owners friendly helpful and considerate. All of this makes such a difference as more often or not when a cottage says its dog friendly this does not feel that this is the case when you actually get there. All in all a great holiday and we would thoroughly recommend Kokopelli and hope to return very soon!

Fabulous homely and bright. Great location with lots to do in the area.

By Cheryl S on 05-May-2019

We had a lovely stay in this lodge. It had such a lovely homely feel with all the owners personal touches and beautiful bright skylight. It is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed at with everything you could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. The Jacqui sent us a fantastic information pack to help us organise our holiday and even more great info in the lodge on everything you would possibly need know about the area and lodge to make our stay brilliant. Our dogs loved the Grassy large area to run around and chill. Very private plot with great aspect. We would love to come back. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home and making so perfect with all the hard work you have put in with the info and special touch’s we really appreciate Thanks Cheryl and Angelo x

Couldn't have wanted more from our stay at Kokopelli.

By Carol W on 15-Apr-2019

Kokopelli really has a welcoming feel and is lovely and clean, fresh but cosy & comfortable too. The welcome started before arrival with Jacqui having fantastic communication, happy to answer any queries and also providing a wealth of local information for your stay. We were greeted with thoughtful little welcome gifts too. So many lovely walks to do straight from the cottage and other attractions too, the donkey sanctuary right next door and others with-in a short car ride. We visited Beer Caves, Lyme Regis and Exmouth, The Byes river walk down to Sidmouth beach amongst others. Most wonderful for us was it was so dog friendly too. A quiet & peaceful location and perfect base for exploring this part of Devon, would highly recommend.

Dogs and their humans are extremely well catered for in this contemporary cottage.

By Sara Breen on 09-Apr-2019

Great consideration has been given to everything you might ever need from a holiday cottage. The location was perfect for the Donkey Sanctuary, a two minute walk away and for exploring the Jurassic Coast. The dogs were very content with many dog-friendly touches. Plenty of good walks direct from the cottage. The site was quiet with only the occasional braying donkey to be heard. When we come back down to Devon I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect holiday home that ticked all the boxes.

By Helen G on 08-Apr-2019

This holiday home had so many added little touches that made it feel like home from home. It has really been thought about with the little things like candles in the bathroom to dog shampoo, torches and a long line. The place was modern and clean and I could of happily moved in! You couldn't ask for more with the location. We didn't need the car at all and wandered from village to village via the coastal path which gave us beautiful beaches and stunning views. Jacqui was the perfect host who I felt I could contact with any query that I had. We will be coming back.

The perfect Devon cottage

By Helen Irwin on 31-Mar-2019

Kokpelli is a modern yet cosy cottage in Sidmouth, Devon. Located next to the Donkey Sanctuary, the cottage is an ideal place to stay when visiting this part of Devon. We know the area well so we like the central location of the cottage to return to when we visit our favourite places such as Sidmouth, Beer and the beautiful and highly recommended walk along The Byes. During this holiday we also visited Lyme Regis and Bicton Botanical Gardens which are well worth a trip! Our dog Milly comes along on the break and is made to feel very welcome everywhere locally. Devon love their dogs! Kokopelli catered to her every need and she was happy and comfortable straight away! For us, everything you need is in the cottage and more. It feels like staying at home but with extra treats! Jacqui was an excellent hostess from the initial booking; emailing us recommendations for the area a few weeks before and making sure we got home safely after the holiday. I would thoroughly recommend staying at Kokopelli if you were interested in staying in the area. We will be back again for sure!

Fantastic 3 night break in this gorgeous cottage, even the rain and gale force winds didn’t dampen our spirits. Lots of lovely walks suitable for dogs on your doorstep, many of which involve donkeys, good pubs or the sea - we will definitely return again!

Not just dog friendly, family friendly too!

By Kerry T on 29-Oct-2018

acqui and Garry have really gone the extra mile to think of everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great ideas of things to do sent well in advance of stay including activities and favourite places to eat - really helpful when visiting during busy school holidays. Arrived to find immaculate cottage with a great layout and good sized rooms. Greeted by welcome pack touches for humans and a full kit of things for our dog in case we had forgotten anything. Sensible things like washing up liquid and olive oil and a few herbs ... so many Cottages skimp on these things but they’re a hassle to always bring. Area has loads to do - donkey sanctuary on your doorstep is a big hit with the kids as was fossil hunting and a genuinely decent riding stables close by - Devenish. Super quiet cottage with a sunny aspect and well kept grounds - easy to mingle with other guests on the park or keep tucked away in your corner if that’s your preference

We have just had our 5th short stay at this beautiful cottage, which I think says how much we like this place! As 2 x adults, 1 x toddler and 2 x dogs Kokopelli easily accomodates of us with its large living/ dining area and a open plan kitchen its great to have some space. You can tell the owners really take pride in this place, everything has been thought about, from every kitchen utensil you could possibly need to the books and toys for children. Kokopelli is beautifully furnished to a high standard and has such comfy beds which can be very hit and miss from past experiences we've had staying in holiday cottages. With its location in the corner of the small holiday park it great as we have hardly ever seen or heard anyone which is so peaceful and relaxing. Its great to be able to stroll literally 5 minutes across to the many walks around the Donkey Sanctuary, which is all so dogs friendly. For us Kokopelli is ideal place to rejuvenate as we can all relax in comfort here place plus have so much available right on the doorstep, we have already booked to next little break!

We stayed for a short break with our 5&9 year old children and dog. The cottage was very clean and had lots of lovely touches, particularly the basket with lots of doggy essentials! The cottage has been renovated to a high standard- the bathroom was enormous. There were plenty of homely features. You can really tell this is a much loved holiday home or the owners. Location wise the cottage is literally next to the Donkey Sanctuary. The sanctuary is free to get in so we enjoyed plenty of dog walks though very early in the mornings when it was just us and the donkeys around. There are plenty of places to walk the dog. The coastal walks are very hilly indeed so maybe not suited to the less mobile! We visited Lyme Regis (nearest sandy beach- good for the kids), Beer- plenty of eating options, Sidmouth- lovely little shops Jurassic Centre - very educational but ok for a couple of hours out. Would definitely recommend Kokopelli

Within a few hours of arriving, we already felt at home and were sad to think about leaving already!! There was also a warming welcome gift too! Such a lovely treat and thought, thank you both! I have to say that Kokkopelli is an amazing place. A lot of thought, effort and love has gone into every aspect, down to the smallest details and the decor was fab! I also loved the information given about how the name "Kokkopelli" come about and all of the Kokkopelli decorations dotted around! A lot of information was provided before hand and at the cottage itself; local information/events/takeaways/shops/place to go/walks etc etc. The cottage itself was well equipped throughout, washing machine, dishwasher, dog bowls, toys etc, een dog shampoo! Also had a lovely garden area with patio, bbq, lights and nice peaceful surroundings. Would definitely recommend walking down to the donkey sanctuary.. can spend a whole day there! The donkeys are well looked after, plenty of them, the grounds are clean and tidy, lovely canteen area with lovely food and great views from the windows out to the donkeys.. You can also walk down to the (pebble) beach less than 30 minutes, but there are steep steps to get down to the beach and obviously back up again! .. We counted around 200! I would also recommend going to Exmouth beach.. a lovely maintained beach, can park in the town and walk down withi 15 minutes, close to the shops too.. The sea was crystal clear and so warm! Did feel like we were abroad! The only bad thing that I can say about the place is that it isn’t mine! Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely kokopelli! can say that we will definitely be back!

Kokopelli cottage is a very nice cottage, sittuated within a small and peacefull holidaypark. The comunication with the owners was really easy, they replied very quickly to my messages and made an effort to inform me upfront about activities suited for the party I was travelling with. The cottage is very well equipped: washer/dryer, hairdryer, towels, tassimo coffee maker, washingmachine, dvd, radio..... just everything you could possibly need. The cottage is dogfriendly, but that should not scare of people without dogs! There was not a hint of dog smel and we did not spot any dog hairs. I would definitely recommend this cottage
