A Little Bit About Worthing

The largest town in West Sussex, Worthing sits at the centre of five miles of flat seaside promenade and has an award winning pier. Take a holiday rental in Worthing and you will enjoy leisurely strolls alongside gardens, sand at low tide, palm trees and great views of the coastline. A walk along the pier gives a totally different view of the town and panoramic views of the Sussex coast, from Selsey Bill to the Seven Sisters. You can still buy fresh fish straight from the fisherman on the beach.

The Museum & Art Gallery has superb costume & toy collections and a delightful sculpture garden. Enjoy a leisurely stroll in beautiful Highdown Gardens and Brooklands Park, with its boating lake, miniature railway, go-karting and golf, great fun for the whole family.

The Worthing Birdman competition is just one event that make up a varied calendar throughout the year. There is lively entertainment at Worthing's town centre venues: Three theatres and two cinemas offer film, drama, comedy, dance and music - welcoming the latest acts and many shows straight from the West End.

Worthing restaurants serve cuisine from all around the globe or you can enjoy the café culture where you can sit and watch the world go by. Shopping in the pedestrianised town centre covers a mix of both high street names and individual retailers.

Claim to Fame: In 1894, Oscar Wilde wrote The Importance of Being Earnest at No 5, The Esplanade. The author spent the summer in the town with his family and named the hero of the play Jack Worthing. In the 1960s, playwright Harold Pinter wrote The Homecoming when he was living at his home in Ambrose Place.
