If waking up to the sound of the waves and being just moments from the sand is your idea of the perfect holiday, Ocean’s Edge delivers exactly that. Positioned within the exclusive Smuggler’s Cove development in Portreath, this exceptional beachfront cottage enjoys a truly enviable location, with the beach just thirty seconds away via a private slipway reserved exclusively for residents.
Sleeping up to four guests across two comfortable bedrooms, Ocean’s Edge is ideal for couples, small families and dog owners looking for a relaxing coastal escape. The master bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room and a private balcony overlooking the beach and sea, providing the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while watching the waves roll in. The second bedroom features two single beds which can also be configured as a king-size bed if preferred.
Throughout the property, the sea takes centre stage. The lounge, dining area and kitchen all enjoy breathtaking coastal views, ensuring you’re never far from the stunning scenery. A separate garden room provides additional space to relax, unwind or entertain, while a utility room with WC and laundry facilities offers added convenience for longer stays. There is also a useful storage area, perfect for dogs, wetsuits, surfboards and beach equipment.
Outside, the private decking and seating area overlook the beach, creating the ideal setting for al fresco dining, evening drinks or simply watching the ever-changing colours of the ocean. Reclining chairs positioned behind a glass balustrade allow you to soak up the views while remaining sheltered from the sea breeze. And when evening arrives, you’ll be treated to some of the most spectacular sunsets on Cornwall’s north coast.
One of Ocean’s Edge’s biggest attractions is its location. Despite feeling wonderfully private and secluded, you’re only a five-minute stroll from the heart of Portreath village, where you’ll find welcoming pubs, cafés, restaurants and local shops. The South West Coast Path is also right on your doorstep, offering spectacular cliff-top walks and breathtaking coastal scenery in both directions.
With private parking directly outside, a complimentary EV charger, direct beach access and uninterrupted sea views, Ocean’s Edge offers a rare opportunity to enjoy one of Cornwall’s most sought-after waterfront locations. Whether you’re surfing, exploring the coastline, relaxing on the deck or simply falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, this is coastal living at its finest.

Location:
Nestled on Cornwall's dramatic north coast, Portreath is a charming seaside village with a rich mining heritage and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Located around five miles north of Redruth, it was once a thriving industrial port, importing Welsh coal and exporting copper from the nearby mines around Chacewater. Today, the harbour is home to just a handful of fishing boats, but remnants of its fascinating past, including the original loading ramp, can still be seen around the village.
Portreath's beautiful sandy beach is one of its biggest attractions. A small stream runs across the sand before meeting the sea, and the beach is popular with families, swimmers, surfers and bodyboarders alike. The famous harbour wall wave, known locally as "Vortex", draws experienced bodyboarders whenever the conditions are right. The beach is cleaned daily during the main season and remains wonderfully dog friendly, with dogs welcome all year round and restricted only between 10am and 6pm during July and August.
Despite its small size, Portreath has a great selection of cafés, pubs and local shops, all contributing to the village's warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's particularly popular with dog owners, with many establishments happily welcoming four-legged visitors.
For those who enjoy exploring the outdoors, Portreath offers endless opportunities. Former tramways once used to transport copper ore have been transformed into scenic walking and cycling routes, including the popular Coast-to-Coast Trail linking Portreath on the north coast with Devoran on the south coast.
The South West Coast Path passes directly through the village and offers some of Cornwall's most spectacular scenery. Head south towards Bassets Cove for dramatic cliff-top views, colourful wildflowers and abundant birdlife, or venture north towards Porthtowan for an equally stunning coastal walk. As with much of Cornwall's coastline, care should be taken near the cliff edges due to natural erosion.
There is also plenty to enjoy within a short drive of the village, including indoor swimming pools, golf courses, squash, badminton, bowls and horse-riding centres.
Just a mile and a half away lies Tehidy Country Park, one of Cornwall's hidden gems. Covering around 250 acres of beautiful woodland, the former Bassett family estate is now open to the public year-round. The park offers approximately nine miles of walking trails, along with bridleways and mountain bike tracks. Dotted with ponds and a picturesque lake home to swans and ducks, Tehidy is the perfect place for a peaceful afternoon surrounded by nature.
