Overview
Description
We are very excited to welcome guests to our newly renovated Granary Barn! Sleeping up to four guests in two bedrooms this converted barn is nestled right on the farm, looking out across the fields to the pigs rooting around and in warmer months, the sheep grazing just beyond the patio. It is a characterful cottage with some beautifully preserved original features, including an arrow slit window, exposed beams and retained parts of the mechanism used to mill the grain.Granary Barn is a single storey cottage, level throughout making it ideal for couples and families of all ages. This project was planned with the environment in mind and our sustainable renovation has incorporated solar panels, solar battery storage, EV car charger and an air source heat pump. Underfloor heating throughout, with programmable thermostats in each room, makes it a cosy countryside escape in the cooler months.
Granary barn has an enclosed garden and is dog friendly, we welcome up to two well behaved dogs per booking, at no extra cost. With so many glorious walks here your dogs will not want the holiday to end!
Kitchen and Living Area
Granary Barn has a spacious open plan living and kitchen area. It is well equipped with everything you need to cater for your stay. In the kitchen there is a mid-height oven, induction hobs, a dishwasher, washing machine, an under-counter fridge with small freezer compartment and a dining table to seat four. A doorway from the kitchen opens out on to a patio where in the spring and summer months you can relax and enjoy the sheep grazing just beyond. The living area has a comfy three seater sofa, tub chair and a smart television where you can unwind. A large fully glazed entrance way makes this is a lovely light and bright space to enjoy.
Bedroom One
The main bedroom is decorated with tasteful blue and gold tones. It has zip and link beds that can be configured as two singles or combined to a super king. There is a three-drawer chest of drawers, a hanging rack and full length mirror. The dimmable lighting and touch bedside lamps give it a warm vibe.
Bedroom two
The second bedroom is decorated in warm grey and ochre colours and can be made as a single room or turned into a twin by including a guest bed. The guest bed is a low bed, just slightly smaller than a standard single, with a comfortable pocket sprung mattress to give a good night’s sleep. Alternatively, alongside the single bed there is plenty of space to pop up a travel cot, which we can supply on request. There is an open wardrobe to give hanging and storage space. If children are staying then games and books are supplied to help keep the little ones entertained.
Bathroom
The bathroom has a modern contemporary feel with grey colours and contrasting sleek black tap, showers and fittings. The walk in wet room, offers flexibility with both a luxury rainfall shower and an adjustable shower head on a riser bar.
Garden and Parking
Granary Barn is approached via a tarmac drive and there is space to park a couple of cars right in front of the barn, for ease of unpacking on arrival. There is an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger (additional charges apply). The barn is set within a fenced garden and although enclosed, we cannot guarantee it is secure for all dogs. The patio has four comfortable chairs and dining table with parasol, so fingers crossed for sunny weather and gorgeous sunsets.
Our Farm and Local Area
Downhouse Farm is located in the scenic Cotswolds on what is still a working farm, as it has been for centuries. Through the spring and summer months there will be sheep grazing and the hum of tractors in the fields, mowing or baling the hay. Our resident pigs, Dot and Daisy, will grunt you a friendly hello.
The farm is nestled below Cam Peak and Long Down, beautiful hills on the Cotswold Way in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which are well worth the climb as you will be rewarded with breath-taking views over the Severn Vale and surrounding Cotswolds.
We're in a gorgeous rural setting, but close by to modern comforts - the town of Dursley is just a mile away for access to supermarkets, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
The main Farmhouse at Downhouse Farm, is also available to book, sleeping up to 10 guests, in four bedrooms. You can see more on our other listing here: https://www.simplyowners.net/p/185537/
We hope to welcome you here soon, Kate and Family

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Stay
By Helen on 17-Sep-2026We had a fantastic stay at Kate's barn. It was exactly as described, if not even better! The barn has been converted to an exceptionally high standard, with great attention to detail and everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. One of the highlights was Dad getting to feed the pigs, which he absolutely loved and made the experience even more memorable. The surroundings were lovely, and the accommodation was both charming and well-maintained. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and unique getaway. Thank you, Kate, for such a wonderful stay! We will definitely be back.

The information pack in the barn was extensive, with lots of walking routes and plenty of recommendations. The location was perfect, with lovely walks from the barn and plenty to do within a short drive. Kate was a brilliant host, she has thought of everything and was always quick to respond. We hope to visit again.

A little haven of peace
By Benjamin on 23-Apr-2026A little haven of peace – beautiful barn refurbished to very high specs: great kitchen, luxury bathroom, super-king size bed, lovely interiors. Set in an idyllic countryside setting with sheep and lambs at your doorstep and direct access to stunning walks. Kate is extremely nice and helped us out immediately when we needed some extra support. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful week in the Barn
By Sally on 20-May-2026We had a wonderful week in the Barn. So comfy, warm and clean with quality bed linen and well equipped kitchen. A generous welcome pack and details of local walks from the doorstep much appreciated. Superb walk in shower. Our dog loved the enclosed garden. Sheep and pig watching were a delight! Kate and family nearby if you need anything, but otherwise unobtrusive. Superb recycling organisation! Looking forward to planning another visit!
