Description
Welcome!Pail End is a one-bedroom holiday let, next door to the owners' house in the Peak District village of Brassington, a couple of miles from Carsington Water.
Stepping into Pail End, there is an open-plan living area, with compact kitchen and sitting area. Upstairs, you have a double eaves bedroom, with a window looking south along the valley, complete with a couple of chairs and small table for morning coffee, or tea breaks. Comfy, king-size bed, with a low footboard, to accommodate the taller guests. Firm and soft pillows.
Outside Pail End is a terraced lawn with table and chairs; this area of the owners' garden is enjoyed by guests on fine days.
The village of Brassington benefits from two friendly pubs; one serving food lunchtime and evenings, and the other serving breakfasts.
Carsington Water is just over two miles away - very popular with our guests for easy walking with visitor facilities. Nearby is the High Peak Trail: the former railway track now much-enjoyed by walkers and cyclists.
Pail End is for couples (or singles) who are looking for a relaxing break in the countryside, with inspiring views, invigorating walks, and interesting places to visit, so you can return home refreshed.
We do welcome a dog, but please note that the garden is not securely enclosed.

Perfect relaxing break
By Deana on 12-Jul-2026I don’t usually leave reviews, but we had such a wonderful stay that I felt I would like to share our experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect for a relaxing and carefree couple of days. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, and is a real credit to the owners. The lovely cottage garden was the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine in the evening, while enjoying the peaceful open views across the surrounding fields. The location is ideal, with two friendly village pubs within walking distance and excellent access to Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, and the surrounding Peak District. Our Bernese Mountain Dog absolutely loved it too—he didn’t want to come home! Thank you Richard, Kathy & Gromit for making us feel so welcome. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this beautiful cottage and hope to return again in the future.
Perfect & Peaceful
By Stacia on 21-Apr-2026Perfect and peaceful! We really enjoyed our stay at Pail End - the garden was beautiful, perfect for enjoying the sun and view over the hills with a cup of coffee or tea. The kitchen had everything we needed, towels were fresh smelling and soft, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and the curtains were properly insulated so blocked out light and kept in the heat in the evenings. Such a cozy place, in a beautiful village with lots of nice walks right on the doorstep.
