House in Strete, near Dartmouth, South Devon, England - situated within it's own garden in extensive grounds overlooking the beachThe lodge is sited in one of the loveliest areas in England - a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with the freshwater lagoon of Slapton Ley at it's heart.
The lodge has it's own garden within extensive grounds which overlook the long crescent stretch of Slapton Sands and the craggy headland that curves around to Start Point lighthouse
Refurbished in a contemporary style the lodge has wonderful sea views and sits above the shingle beach at Strete Gate - just 10 minutes walk away
The award winning Blackpool Sands is a couple of miles away.
Situated at the mouth of the River Dart is the historic naval port of Dartmouth with it's wealth of galleries, shops and cafes and restaurants.
Dartmouth is known for it's narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses and old quays, with the historic Mayflower having set sail for the New World America from Bayards Cove
A boat trip up river will take you to Agatha Christie's house "Greenways" and "Coleton Fishacre" once the home of the D'Oyly Carte family is at Kingswear
Further afield the beautiful beaches of Bantham (our local surfing beach) Bigbury and South Milton as well as Salcombe and Hope Cove are all within striking distance
The property can accommodate 4 adults with the option for a put you up bed placed in the twin bedroom - suitable for a child only

We have a no smoking and no pets policy
April 2026 - please note that due to storm damage the A379 coast road is temporarily closed to cars between the Slapton turn off and Torcross Village
You can however walk (or cycle) on the damaged road – and it takes about 25 minutes on foot from the Slapton Memorial car park to Torcross

By Oliver Schepp-Danne on 11-Jul-2026Eine sehr gutes Ferienhaus, ohne jegliche Einschränkungen.Sehr ruhig aber dennoch hervorragend gelegen oberhalb der Strandes von Strete.Sehr großzügige Räume, super sauber und mit allem wichtigen ausgestattet, auch die Küche.Morgen kann man draußen unter den Bäumen im Schatten mit Blick auf das Meer frühstücken. Zudem eine sehr schöne und außerhalb der Ferien wenig frequentierte Gegend bis auf die Einheimischen.Sehr empfehlenswert!

Nous avons eu une semaine de soleil et on a pu manger dehors à tous les repas. Les hôtes ont répondu rapidement à nos demandes, c’était parfait. Ils nous ont également conseillé des visites dansla région (ils habitent au bout de l’allée). Le logement est situé près d’une route dans un virage donc il est préférable de sortir en voiture. La plage la plus proche est à 2 minutes en voiture, et il y a le coast path tout à côté. Le logement est situé à environ 20 minutes de Dartmouth et de gros supermarchés.
