High in the rafters of Millbrook's original 18th-century corn mill, The Loft at Millbrook (formerly known as Pulley Mill) is a hideaway unlike anywhere else on the estate. Climb the stairs and the ceilings soar, the windows frame the estate like paintings, and the old mill workings still whisper stories of another age.
This is a place made for two. The bedroom is dressed for slow mornings, with a king-size Laura Ashley bed, deep Egyptian cotton linen and your choice of duck-down or anti-allergy pillows. A star ceiling projector casts a gentle constellation above as the LED lights fade, and bedroom candles are lit ready for your arrival.
The bathroom is one to linger in — a deep bath beneath a striking blue feature wall, framed by travertine tiles, plus a powerful rainfall shower. Ask Alexa to set the mood from speakers in both the bathroom and lounge.
The lounge is warm and inviting, with cosy furniture, a log-effect gas stove, LED mood lighting and an honesty bar for unplanned evenings. A window seat looks out over the lake and 32 acres of gardens and woodland — the best seat in the house, especially as the light turns golden in the evening.
The kitchen is fully equipped with Emma Bridgewater crockery, a breadmaker and everything you need, and you'll find a 55-inch Samsung 4K TV with Netflix and Blu-ray, high-speed Wi-Fi and a TouchStay guestbook on an iPad. A locally made cake and fresh bread await your arrival (gluten-free and vegan cake available on request).
