A Little Bit About Woolacombe
Woolacombe lies between Morte Point and Baggy Point. This three-mile long stretch of golden sand is renowned for it's cleanliness, water quality and facilities. Life guards ensure safe family swimming during the summer and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy the great waves and clean water. Dogs are welcome on the beach, with some restrictions in the summer months. Woolacombe itself is a lively village with great pubs, restaurants and places to stay, and is a perfect base for a family holiday, surfing trip or stop-over when walking the South West Coast Path. Mortehoe village adjoins Woolacombe and has plenty of holiday rental accommodation, places to eat and access on to the coast path. Much of the surrounding countryside is managed by the National Trust, so remains unspoilt. Visitors of all ages will find plenty to do away from the beach. There's a friendly, laid-back atmosphere here which visitors are sure to enjoy.
Woolacombe is a small holiday resort, but bigger than nearby Croyde, with all the facilities you need and a great beach, which is privately owned. The village centre has a small selection of shops.
It has large car parks overlooking the long, and extensive, beach which is a great place for a day on the beach.
If you feel like a stroll you can walk on the South West Coastal path that passes through there.
Further along, Combesgate beach, like Woolacombe, is made up of fine golden sand, a paradise for swimmers and surfers. The next beach, Grunta, earned its name when a ship with a cargo of pigs ran aground here. It’s harder to reach but worth the effort for its tranquillity.
