Overview
Description
Alpaca Cottage is a one bedroom luxury gem set in a quiet and gorgeous corner of Dorset. Near the coast, it's perfect for walkers, cyclists or relaxers!!Alpaca Cottage has been subject to a 10 month luxury refurbishment. With the sitting room/kitchen, double bedroom and designer en-suite all located on the ground floor, it is ideal for those with limited mobility. The cottage has stunning views over a large meadow (laid out by 'Capability 'Brown) where our herd of 21 alpacas live, and you would be welcome to participate at feeding time. For an extra charge we can also offer Alpaca walking to our guests at the cottage.
Alpaca cottage is self-contained and adjoins on one side the owner's house, and has a separate outside area for al-fresco meals or drinks. Located off a private road, and set in the midst of numerous footpaths, as well as just by the National Cycle Path ( bicycles are available for rent) , this is a superb location for the active, or for those just wanting to kick back and relax. The cottage is also close to the beautiful River Frome, which can be walked beside, or even paddled in! The wonderful Jurassic Coast is just 10 miles away, and the historic county town of Dorchester just 5 miles away. We are also keen classic car enthusiasts (Jaguars in particular) so you will often have a chance to examine beautiful 50s and 60s classic cars at close quarters.
There is a small patio area outside the front door, with a table and chairs for 2 plus 2 visiting friends. Guests may roam the 5 acre grounds, with permission. Beyond this, there are numerous lovely walks in all directions. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included. Changed once a week. Other: Small walk-in hanging cupboard beyond bathroom. While there isn't a washing machine in the cottage, guests can make use of a washer/dryer situated in the adjacent barn, which is exclusively for their use. We provide a comprehensive guide to things to see and do locally, including recommended local pubs and restaurants, walks etc etc. This is a truly idyllic spot either for a romantic short break, or a longer stay.

By David Pitcher on 24-Apr-2026Property easy to locate. Parking very close to property. Welcomed by the host who explained things to us.We looked out at the park land where the alpacas were which was a delight and being able to walk over to see them and even help with feeding was very special. We had a comfortable and relaxing short break.
The cottage and property are beautiful.
By Robert Kmiec on 20-May-2026Paul and Fiona are the kindest, most helpful, generous, gracious hosts we've ever met. They made our stay in their lovely Alpaca farm property, relaxing and very comfortable. They went out of their way to help us when we had issues with our rental car, en route to their cottage. The cottage and property are beautiful. We definitely recommend this cottage and hope to stay again in the future. Thank you Paul and Fiona for a truly wonderful experience.
Beautiful location. Great walks from the cottage and lots to do nearby (with a car).
By Jennifer Pedneau on 26-May-2026Beautiful location. Great walks from the cottage and lots to do nearby (with a car). The alpacas are fun to watch and loved chatting with their caretaker, Fiona. Note, washer/dryer is in a separate barn so access needed to be coordinated.Host kindly provided tea, sugar, biscuits and cream upon our arrival!
