Overview
Description
A short walk from Dorset’s Jurassic coastline you will find Upper Westfield, a first floor self-catering apartment in the picturesque village of Puncknowle. It is the only holiday let in our home (we live on the other side of the house). Having your own private entrance gives guests the independence to come and go as you please with the added comfort of having us nearby should you have any questions on the area’s many attractions and seasonal events. There is lots of information in the apartment regarding places to visit. Some of our past guests’ favourites include: Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Abbotsbury Swannery, Hive beach, Weymouth beach, Lulworth Cove, Monkey World, Symondsbury Cafe with Colmers Hill and nearby mysterious sunken lanes, St Catherine’s Chapel, and Weymouth Oceanarium.
The accommodation comprises of:
A large open plan living area for relaxing, dining and cooking, ideal for being together while performing different tasks. Take in the beautiful countryside views across the valley from the Juliette balcony.
There is a wide selection of DVDs, puzzles, books, board games for all ages.
There is a T.V. with built-in DVD player and Google Chromecast and a Bluetooth player.
The kitchen has an electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetière, fridge, freezer and is well equipped with utensils and crockery.
The double bedroom has the bathroom next door.
The twin bedroom has its own en-suite shower room.
Both the bathroom and the ensuite shower room have wall mirrors with mood lighting. There is a large walk-in power shower in the ensuite.
We offer an option of having access to a third bedroom (single bed) with use of a sauna. This room is also an ideal space to be used as a workstation as it has a desk and is separate from the main apartment area. This is offered at an additional £30 per night.
There is plenty of parking available in our front driveway and there is an EV charger.
We welcome one well-behaved small dog, by prior consent, for an additional £10 per stay.
You are welcome to use the front garden and there is a separate section of the rear garden for your sole use, where there is a table with umbrella and chairs. Through the wooden gate leads you into the little orchard where there is more seating and a Buddha among the mature damson, pear and apple trees. We have a further two fields at the bottom of the garden where sometimes the local farmer puts his sheep to graze.
Included is a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) to the local animal park which also has an indoor play area. This is a 5 minute drive away.
We provide a generous welcome pack of provisions to get you settled (which can be adapted to meet any allergy requirements).
We have a 3 night minimum booking policy.
We also provide towels, a hairdryer, toilet paper, kitchen roll, tissues, washing up liquid, and hand wash.
The thatched village pub, The Crown, is a 5 minute stroll down the lane.
We look forward to welcoming you to Upper Westfield.

Simply wonderful!
By Graham Wakley on 27-Jul-2026From the first moment we booked and were asked what we would like in our welcome basket we knew that this was likely to be something special. We weren't wrong. The owners could not be nicer - nothing was too much trouble! Even providing some biscuits for our dog and cooking some gluten free scones. Everything about this little oasis of calm made for a wonderfully relaxing holiday. We were able to escape from the oppressive heat back home and enjoy the much slower pace of life along with the wonderful countryside and friendly locals. The time went so very quickly - from visiting West Bay, Lyme Regis and the absolute highlight of Portland Bill I don't think we've ever had a holiday as relaxing as this. The attention to detail was simply stunning - nothing was too much trouble and almost every scenario had been considered. We are already thinking about our next stay!
The perfect base to explore this beautiful area
By Markus Reichardt on 26-Jun-2026Westfield House is the perfect place to explore this beautiful part of England. The hosts, Sabina and Ray are so welcoming and truly helpful. The place is spacious, very comfortable and superbly equipped, easy to use for anyone to use it as a base to explore the area, including the nearby Jurassic Coast. The apartment comes with a wonderful view of the valley, but weather permitting you should make use of the calm, lush garden. We visited during July and at all times of the day it was teaming with wildlife. Westfield House is on the southern edge of Puncknowle Village and if you take the time to read the detailed local tourist information your hosts have assembled you, you will find the village and the surroundings full of small, beautiful surprises as well as a great village pub with a comfortable garden to while away a lazy afternoon or evening. We spent two nights (much too short) there and enjoyed every moment of it. There is still so much to explore in the area, so we will be back.
Little break to celebrate Martin’s 60th birthday
By King family on 01-Apr-2026Sabina and Ray are lovely hosts, they made us very welcomed. The accommodation is beautifully clean and spacious with lovely views and a private garden allocated for guest’s sole use. The welcome pack was very generous and Sabina even made a delicious birthday cake for Martin, complete with candles. We would definitely visit again and recommend to others .
Simply wonderful!
By Amy Franklin on 23-Aug-2025Where can we start describing our experience at Upper Westfield? From the very beginning it was easy; the communication from Sabina & Ray was brilliant, directions easy to follow & they were accommodating to everything we needed to complete our stay. The apartment is completely equipped with everything you could need for your stay, and there were even small touches for our family which made our little ones included & very happy. (They really do think of everything!) The location itself is perfect for exploring the South coast and we had days out to Lyme Regis, Weymouth, Charmouth Beach for fossil hunting, Monkey World, Wool for magnet fishing, and Durdle Door. There isn’t anything we could suggest to improve the apartment whatsoever, we highly recommend this place to stay!! It’s brilliant value for money too which is an added bonus at the moment!
Perfect for the family and the dog.
By Davis Family on 15-Aug-2025From the very first correspondence to our arrival, the communication and information we received were excellent. The thoughtful welcome pack instantly took the pressure off settling in, and the delicious cake made our arrival feel extra special. We loved the flat — it had everything we needed, plus the added bonus of onsite charging. Luna was in her element, racing around the Orchard in joyful zoomies. It was such a relief to have a secure space for her to play while we relaxed. Every detail was so well thought out, making our stay comfortable, stress‑free, and memorable. We can’t wait to plan a return
