Swanage is an un-spoilt Dorset town by the sea. Located in the south east of Dorset, at the end of the Purbeck Hills it is part of the Jurassic Coast world heritage site. Swanage has many attractions to offer its visitors from its sheltered sandy beach with a traditional Punch and Judy show in the Summer to long walks in the Purbeck Hills. Swanage is well known for its festivals which include the Blues and Jazz festivals in March and October. There are plenty of great pubs to visit with good food, and those looking for fine dining could make a trip to The Pig on the Beach in Studland, or to Rick Steins in Sandbanks. Other local attractions include Durlston Castle, ideal for a cream tea, take a trip on the steam train to Corfe Castle, or stroll along Swanage pier. A short drive away you can visit Monkey World, the Tank Museum and Dorset Water Park. Visit Bournemouth for the day for some shopping or take a drive to Lulworth Cove or Durdle Door to see their unique geology and landforms. And then retire to your cozy Dorset holiday cottage.
