The house is in the centre of a beautiful village in a Conservation Area deemed an area of outstanding area of natural beauty. Surrounded by vineyards, fields and footpaths including St Peter’s Way, it is perfect for those who like to wander in the countryside.

The home is an impressive family residence occupying a commanding hilltop position with views of the neighbouring 14th century All Saints Church and over the picturesque village of Purleigh and the beautiful Essex countryside.
Built in 1886, the Rectory has been beautifully restored and refurbished to create a wonderful family home which retains enormous character and period charm.

There are lovely countryside walks right on the doorstep, the village pub, The Purleigh Bell, is also close by, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed drink or meal without having to travel far.

ACCOMMODATION
The elegant accommodation is arranged over two floors combining well-proportioned reception rooms with comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms over the ground and first floors.
The extensive tiered lawns to the rear and beautiful gardens are a great place to relax and for children to play. There is a children’s play area with swings and slide as well as an in-ground trampoline at the bottom of the garden.

The home has room to spread out across two floors. The ground floor has a formal sitting room, a family snug filled with games and toys for all ages, a panelled dining room featuring a Victorian mahogany dining table to seat 10, a kitchen and breakfast room as well as a downstairs bathroom, boot room and separate cloak room..

On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms. There is a master bedroom with superking bed and en-suite next to a further bedroom with a king sized bed. Across the landing there is a semi-en-suite nursery bedroom with a king sized bed and a cot (smaller crib available on request). There are a further two bedrooms, one with, a double bed and the other with a superking bed, with the option to be made up as two single beds.

There are two rooms that are unavailable for guest use as well as a few cupboards that are locked, other than that the main house is for our guests to enjoy. We live on site in a self contained apartment on the second floor with its own entrance and staircase.

SURROUNDING AREA
The surrounding area is particularly attractive to food and wine lovers, with a number of excellent local vineyards and wineries within easy reach. Spend an afternoon enjoying wine tasting and beautiful countryside, before discovering one of the area's many excellent country pubs, restaurants or waterside eateries.

Historic Maldon is just a short drive away and is a must for any visit. Wander along Hythe Quay, watch the traditional Thames sailing barges, explore the historic streets and enjoy the many independent cafés, pubs and restaurants. A walk along the River Blackwater and through Promenade Park is another lovely way to experience this unique riverside town, children will love the splash park and petting zoo at Promenade park too.

There is plenty for history enthusiasts too. Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, St Peter-on-the-Wall, Beeleigh Abbey and Maldon's museums all offer fascinating glimpses into the area's past.

The beautiful Blackwater Estuary and surrounding countryside provide wonderful opportunities for walking, cycling, birdwatching and photography, while the Essex coast offers numerous peaceful villages and scenic places to explore.

For those wanting to venture further afield, RHS Garden Hyde Hall, shopping at Bond Street Chelmsford, historic Colchester, Southend-on-Sea and Audley End House and Gardens all make excellent days out.
