Description

Grabbist Torre (8 Park Street)

Welcome to our beautiful 2 bed cottage, situated on the outskirts of the historic village of Dunster within the Exmoor National Park. This is a very loved family home and we hope you will fall in love with it as we have.

Sleeps 4-6 (2 double bedrooms plus a double sofa bed).

The beautiful and quaint medieval village of Dunster sits just inside the Exmoor National Park. Dunster is steeped in history and charm at every turn. The Old Yarn Market built in 1609 and the famous Lutteral Arms Hotel stand at one end of the high street and the imposing Dunster Castle and working mill at the other. There are a number of walled gardens, gift shops, a well stocked deli, coffee shops, restaurants and museums to keep you busy.

At the end of our street is a small car park, Dunster's award winning playground and the 14th century Gallox Bridge over the river Avil. From here you can walk up into the woods and over Exmoor. There is a good chance you will meet the Exmoor ponies and the deer here.

A few activities within walking distance to the cottage:
- Englands tallest tree
- NT 18th century working mill (complete with tea rooms)
- NT Dunster Castle and gardens
- Minehead harbour / beach
- Exmoor National Park
- South West Railway (steam trains)

A few highlights within driving distance:
- North Hill (Great for walks over Exmoor or watching a sunset)
- Selworthy (Quaint thatched roofed hamlet with walks over Exmoor and Periwinkle Tearooms)
- Horner Water (lovely tea rooms)
- Lynton and Lynmouth (dramatic North Devon Coastline, harbour town and funicular railway) river walk to Watersmeet and quaint tea room.
- Valley of the Rocks
- Lorna Doone Valley (walks, historic church and tea rooms)
- Blue Anchor (Fossil hunting)
- Tropiquaria (the local zoo and great for kids)
- Tarr Steps with lovely pub for lunches and cream teas etc.

You enter the cottage into the front sitting room which can, with prior permission, be used as a third bedroom with a comfortable double sofa bed. From the sitting room you walk through into the lounge complete with a working log burner. Large (wooden) bi-folding doors lead into the kitchen / dining room with a large sky light and windows looking out onto the cottage garden and out towards Exmoor. Beyond the kitchen is a porch area for dirty boots, and a small cloakroom with a toilet and sink.
A concealed stair case is located in the lounge which takes you up to the first floor with two double bedrooms and a good sized family bathroom with a bathtub and shower (over the bath). Please note that the front bedroom bed is against a wall for space, this means access to the bed is only possible from one side. There is a second floor to a new loft conversion however this is private and used only by the owners.

There is a generously sized cottage garden with views over a recreational field towards Exmoor and Dunkery Beacon. The garden comprises of a patio area complete with a table and 4 chairs, perfect for a relaxing morning tea/coffee, mid afternoon tea and cake, dinner or a glass of wine. There is also additional seating. There is a small area laid to lawn surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers (season dependant).

There is a washing line that can be put up or taken down as preferred. The garden can be accessed via a gate to the side of the cottage or via the back door.

The cottage does not have its own parking. There is limited on street parking available and a small ticketed car park at the end of the road, however we can arrange a permit for the duration of your stay for a small additional fee.

Please contact us directly, this will be managed on an individual basis.

From the M5, drive through Bridgewater, following signs to Minehead and the A39. Dunster is located just before you reach Minehead. Dunster is approximately 45 minutes from the M5.

Lovely, lovely week in this charming cottage. Very comfortable and easy to stay, soon felt like 'home'. Weekend was 30+ most days. Dunster is a beautiful place to spend a few days exploring the village and the parks around the castle and then up to Bats castle. Our days always started with a coffee at The Mill tea rooms and ended with drinks in the cottage garden.

Beautifully clean and well kept cottage. When sunny the garden is a warm and relaxing place to spend time. The log burner is a great asset if it gets chilly. A wonderful haven to rest and recharge our batteries. Thank you, Pete and Kathy ps. wifi code location needs to be more obvious please.
