Three Gables is a spacious 5 bedroomed village house with a lovely enclosed garden and fabulous country views.
It is an Eco-friendly holiday retreat, where sustainability meets comfort, powered by renewable energy from a state of the art solar PV system and solar thermal water heating, we also have an electric car charger, it makes the perfect destination for eco-conscious travellers.
We are pleased to have been awarded Gold in the Isle of Wight Green tourism awards for the 2nd year running.
We are at the end of a private drive with plenty of room for parking 4 or more cars. The house sleeps 10 adults in five bedrooms(2 of which are ensuite) with 4 bathrooms
2 of the bedrooms are down stairs making it ideal for those who find stairs difficult. There is also a toddler bed and 2 cots available.
We are pet friendly (max 4 dogs) with a secure garden with hedging a minimum 6ft with a chestnut fence the other side making the garden safe for your pet.
The house is very spacious with a dinning table and seating for 10 in the bespoke kitchen and plenty of room for all to relax in the lounge. There is free wifi throughout the house.
It is the perfect base for large groups of friends and large families wishing to spend time together and enjoy a relaxing short break or holiday at any time of the year with the micro climate of the island giving weather that is often better than elsewhere in the UK
Patio doors and large windows give a light and airy feel to the house while good insulation and central heating make Three Gables warm and cosy in the colder months and solar panels provide the hot water in the warmer months, they help to heat more than 50% of our hot water annually. In 2022 we installed solar PV and a Zappi EV charger and also an eddi to divert excess solar energy to our hot water tank. Any electricity generated that we don't use is fed back into the grid providing green carbon neutral energy, any electricity we have to buy in is from renewables.
There is a shop two minutes walk away (open March to November) a village shop 1.5 miles in Shalfleet open all year, three pubs within a two mile walk. The bus stop is less than 50 m from the drive.
The nearest beach Brook is only three miles another 1/2 mile further and to come to award winning Compton beach.
There are easy drives to local towns for shopping and the many tourist attractions around the island. The county town of Newport is only six miles away and historic Yarmouth is three miles away.
We are an ideal locations for all the island, close to foot paths and cycle ways, beaches and towns

Duvets & pillows on all beds, linen supplied please bring your own beach towels. The property is throughly cleaned before arrival. A selection of toys and games are available including garden games. The house and garden are child friendly, the garden is accessed via steps from the veranda to the patio, perfect for an al fresco breakfast, there are sloped grass banks and steps to the lower lawns it is fenced all round to ensure safety. There is a BBQ and garden furniture is provided for outdoor living. A high chair and stair gates are available on request. 2 cots and a toddler bed are also available on special request but please provide your own linen for the cots. Free Broadband internet access via wi-fi available throughout the house.

The property is not adapted for wheelchairs but is suitable for people with restricted mobility
Access to the property includes a step into the house. On the ground floor is an en suite bedroom(double), the kitchen, lounge, bedroom 5(twin)and separate family bathroom. Patio doors from lounge go to a decked veranda area, from where steps lead down to the garden. There is also an alternative garden access via a gentle grassed slope from the side of the house for those who cannot manage steps well.

A splendid house
By Laura on 03-Aug-2026A splendid house to meet up with all the family for a big birthday celebration. The house is in West wight on the quieter side of the island and the countryside and views are beautiful, particularly from the back of the house and its lovely garden. We watched the moon rise and the bats fly one night. Perfect! There is plenty of garden furniture, which meant everyone could sit comfortably, and the bedrooms were great. There is masses for children to do here. The alpaca walk, Tapnell Farm, go karting and Carisbrooke castle went down well with ours. The island also has excellent cafes and pubs, and the quality of food is first rate. We stayed for two weeks and greatly appreciated the warm welcome given by Roma and Martin, and the care they took to make sure everything was working well.. We very much hope to return. The children in our group loved the house and the Island, and said it ‘ was the best holiday ever’. Laura 03 Aug 2026
Fabulous stay at Three Gables
By Sarah on 21-Jul-2026We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Three Gables. Roma and Martin are excellent hosts, living next door but never intrusive. The house was spacious and clean with everything you need. Beds were comfortable and there was a lovely breeze through the house, a godsend in the hot weather. The garden was lovely with plenty of seating and my two small grandsons enjoyed the games thoughtfully provided in the playhouse. Lots of beaches are within a 10 minute drive, Compton and Freshwater being our favourites and we liked Brook beach for dog walking early morning. The family enjoyed Tapnell Farm and we had a great meal at The Cow adjoining the farm. The Blacksmiths was good too with a nice playground . We really enjoyed our time on the island and will definitely return. Sarah
Comfortable and relaxing weeks stay
By Rhiannon on 17-Aug-2026We had a comfortable and relaxing week at Three Gables. There was plenty of room for everyone, and 4 bathrooms was a real bonus. The beds are comfy and the house was clean. We were able to enjoy the garden loungers and summer house, and the children played with the Swingball every day. The chocolate biscuits were a treat enjoyed by everyone. Parking was easy, and we were in a very quiet area. I would recommend this house as a great place to stay. Rhiannon and Adrian Wheeler
Our 4th visit
By Robert on 01-Jun-2026Just returned from our fourth visit to Three Gables and have booked again for next year. The property is ideal for a large family holiday. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 4 grandchildren. Bedrooms spacious and well equipped and more than adequate bathroom facilities. Splendid large kitchen/diner with views across countryside to die for. Three Gables was a good base to explore the island.
By Kate Denny on 15-Sep-2025Our family travelled from five different houses and met on the same ferry ably booked by our hosts. Our party was made up of 9 adults and 2 two year olds. The house was big enough for everyone to feel comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The view from the kitchen diner was fantastic and a highlight for the little ones was spotting the sheep. Three Gables was a good base to explore the island. Four of our party cycled the route around the island which passes very close to the house. Trips were made to the beach: Compton Bay was a short drive away and we had to revisit Colwell Bay which my children remembered from their childhoods. The oldies enjoyed walking on Headon Warren, Tennyson Down, Afton Down and the Tennyson Trail. Overall, a great place to stay to explore the Isle of Wight.
A lovely stay
By Rachel on 06-May-2026We have just returned from a lovely stay at Three Gables on the Isle of Wight. We needed accommodation that could accommodate 3 families which had outdoor space and separate places to gather. Three Gables was perfect! The children enjoyed playing with the outdoor games and indoor games while we relaxed in the spacious garden. The house was so close to the Orchards camp site where the majority of our rugby tour were based and we were able to get the bus early in the morning. A lovely base for exploring the island and we visited the needles, Tapnell park and the garlic farm! A lovely house which was well equipped and we loved the fresh eggs and biscuits left by Roma and Martin. We hope to be back. Rachel Heaton 06 May 2026
