ABOUT LITTLE LODGE COTTAGELittle Lodge Cottage is a charming, spotless and comfortable detached two-bedroom cottage opposite the entrance to the University of Kent and approximately one mile from Canterbury city centre.
The cottage is ideal for up to four guests, with a sofa bed available for a fifth and sixth guest if required.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
• Bedroom 1: one standard double bed
• Bedroom 2: two full-size single beds and wall-mounted air conditioning
• Lounge: double sofa bed for fifth and sixth guests
PARKING AND ACCESS
Secure gated parking is provided directly outside the cottage on the driveway shared with the neighbouring main house. Guests have their own entrance and can check in independently using the secure key safe.

OUTDOOR SPACE
Outdoor seating is provided directly outside the cottage, overlooking the owner's beautiful garden, where Charlie, the owners' friendly Labrador, roams freely there. Guests are welcome to ask about using the garden during their stay.
The cottage offers a relaxing place to return to after exploring the city and Kent coast.
LOCATION
Little Lodge Cottage is particularly convenient for:
• University of Kent: opposite the entrance
• Canterbury city centre: approximately one mile
• St Edmund’s School: directly opposite
• Kent College: just along the road
• Canterbury West railway station: approximately one mile
• Canterbury Cathedral: approximately 1.5 miles
• Whitstable: approximately 7 miles
• Dover Castle and the White Cliffs: approximately 18 miles
• Leeds Castle: approximately 25 miles
The cottage is ideal for university visitors, graduations, family celebrations, wedding guests, business travellers, contractors and visitors exploring Canterbury and the Kent countryside.
DOGS
Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior agreement and subject to the Doggy Lodging Rules. Dogs must be kept off the beds and sofa and must remain on a lead within the grounds. A £100 dog charge applies per stay.
PRICING
A £50 linen/service charge applies to each stay. The fifth and sixth guests are each charged an additional £50 per per night. Please contact me directly to confirm the price and availability for your chosen dates.
Electric vehicle charging may be available by prior agreement using a domestic socket, subject to Aa £20 charge per vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE
The cottage is beside a main road, so some traffic noise can be heard, particularly during busy periods. Complimentary silicone earplugs are provided for light sleepers. Smoking, vaping and parties are not permitted.

A Wonderful Place and an Exceptional Host
By Sarah Hickman on 24-Jun-2026I stayed at Little Lodge Cottage while my son was taking his exams at the University of Kent, and the location could not have been more perfect - right next to the university grounds and so convenient, with access to the city centre and surrounding areas; it’s just ideal. The cottage itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean, comfortable and very well equipped - a little home away from home. What made my stay truly special was Mikal. She is one of the most genuine and kind people I have ever met. I had a personal issue while I was there, and she was incredibly thoughtful, caring and supportive. Her warmth and hospitality made such a difference and I felt genuinely looked after. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. A wonderful place to stay and an exceptional host. If you are thinking of booking please do not hesitate, you will not regret it.

This was an excellent break (and escape) from inner city London life - we really appreciated the quiet environment, as well as being surrounded by beautiful scenery. We will certainly be back! Beautifully Appointed With Everything We Needed!
By Lisa on 19-May-2025Mikal's place was quaint and beautifully appointed with everything we needed. Loved meeting her and her pup. The cottage is on her property. She was available and responsive. Her photos look like the actual property and she is detailed with instructions. She has taken all guessing out. It is up to us to read her instructions and everything goes smoothly. The only thing we were missing was a freezer. Americans use a lot of ice. A refrigerator is available, but no place to store or make ice. It was fine, just unusual for us.

Mikal kept in contact throughout and let us know of any changes (really appreciated the heating coming on before we arrived!) It is noisy by the road however this is mentioned, we didn’t hear anything from the lounge and after 10pm it was quiet and both slept very well! The cottage had everything we needed for a one nighter and is very close to the centre with a car so was perfect. Thank you again Mikal
