Description
The barn is situated opposite the wonderful wildlife reserve of Pensthorpe, in open country - the views from the barn are so expansive that you can barely see another house. The underfloor and gas central heating ensure that it is always cosy but, in the summer, the open plan living area with 3 sets of French windows mean you can enjoy al fresco living. The contemporary furnishings are comfortable and stylish. There is plenty of dining furniture etc so that you can have your friends around easily. The local area has many excellent pubs and restaurants and on the coast at Holkham and Wells you will find beautiful sandy beaches. The barn is the perfect place from which to explore the area and enjoy a home away from home. You can book the properties either singly, or as a pair for larger parties.Bedroom Details

So peaceful and quiet
By Elaine on 17-Apr-2026The barn was excellent, very clean and plenty of space. The wine and biscuits on arrival was a lovely touch. Beds were comfortable. We were blessed with 2 weeks of sunshine. The barn is marvellously positioned to explore the area. We did lots of walking and went over the road to Pensthorpe ,great day out. Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sandringham all great places to visit. The night sky was amazing, as it's nice and dark with little light pollution. The wildlife outside the barn was equally amazing, saw muntjac deer goldfinches ,lots of hares birds of prey. So peaceful and quiet, we will be back ,next time we'll try next door.

By Rebecca on 22-May-2026We stayed in Wanstead barn and it's a very beautiful, comfortable, clean and spacious property. We loved watching the deer, Hares and Pheasants around the lawn. I was lucky enough to hear a Cuckoo in the mornings, so if you love wildlife, you will love it here. It's an excellent base for visiting nearby beaches and coastal towns. Close to the supermarkets at Fakenham, which is about five minutes drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would definitely recommend to others.
Fabulous location
By Tony on 26-Jun-2026Huge property, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Fabulous location, we sat at the dining table at breakfast watching the hares feed on the lawned area. There are deer around the barn too. Very central for our planned Norfolk Circular walks with starting points all within 30 mins drive. Easy run out to Sandringham and their fabulous gardens. Fakenham nearby for shops, takeaways etc. Nice surprise to find the biscuits and bottle of wine, most welcome on one of the hottest days of the year.
Second Time & Booking the Third!
By Karen on 27-Jun-2025This is our second year staying at Wanstead Barn and absolutely love it here. The barn has every amenity you could wish for, large open rooms (ideal when you have a large dog!), a good size kitchen area with all the essentials and a large utility room great for hanging wet coats and dog leads! Both very comfortable bedrooms are ensuite, one with a bath, the other with a walk in shower, and there is a great little area to sit and look out over the fields on the landing. But the best bit is the beautiful peace and quiet. I love sitting in the little enclosed garden for breakfast or evening drinks and listening to the birdsong or watching the hares - I had only ever seen rabbits before! This barn really is a gem!

Great location
By Tracy on 30-Aug-2024Great location, very peaceful. Lovely to be able to watch wildlife from all windows. Very spacious and comfortably equipped. Ideal location to reach all areas easily whether you enjoy the beach or prefer walks in the country or shopping in Norwich. This was our 5th visit, although the first for several years, already planning a return.
