Violet Cottage is a part of The Old Dairy in Kelling — a classic Norfolk brick and flint building built in the 1850s to service the Kelling Estate but sympathetically restored to create a genuinely comfortable and characterful holiday home. The cottage is part of a small cluster of cottages in a peaceful village setting, but just minutes from the beautiful and varied North Norfolk Heritage Coast.

A traditional Norfolk seaside town with a lovely beach, great fish and chips, and the start of the Poppy Line Heritage SteamRailway.

The heart of the cottage is the open-plan kitchen-diner, with an Everhot stove and induction hob, a kitchen island and a dining table — bright, warm and well-equipped for everything from a simple breakfast to a proper dinner party. The sitting room opens onto the cottage garden through bi-fold doors. A separate snug with its own sofa and Smart TV is a much-loved feature, especially on rainy days. The downstairs shower room and WC is next door.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms: one cosy double overlooking the shared, inner courtyard garden, and one twin which overlooks the patio garden and communal lawns to the open fields. There is an additional bathroom on this floor, with bath and shower over, WC and sink.

Outside, the south-facing garden is secure for dogs and has beautiful open countryside views.

Check in/out is via a Key Safe. The code is texted to guests on the day of their arrival.

Kelling is easily reachable by road and written directions are sent to guests for those not using satnav. On-site, off road dedicated parking space for the cottage. The village is also on the Coastal Hopper 2 bus route which travels between Wells-next-the-Sea to the west and Sheringham to the east. Sheringham has a mainline railway station to Cromer, then Norwich and beyond.

25% deposit at time of booking; £100 refundable breakage deposit payable with balance; balance payment 14 days before arrival; Cancellations more than 14 days before arrival will not be charged, but will be charged 100% of the total Reservation cost if they cancel within 14 days of arrival. If the guest doesn't show up, they will be charged 100% of the total Reservation cost. Refundable breakage desposit will be refunded, minus any necessary adjustments, to the guest's payment card or via BACS, within 14 days of departure date.
