Overview
Description
Fancy sitting on a sunny decking, looking down the river or glancing up to the wonderful hilly countryside? Ah, what a way to wind down and relax in an area designated an 'Area of outstanding natural beauty'.Ash lodge is a beautifully presented, single-storey, bespoke wooden holiday lodge on a small park ideally situated beside the River Clun. The park in Clunton is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of Shropshire's Clun Valley. Immaculate throughout and providing spacious, contemporary accommodation, this wonderful Shropshire holiday lodge, near the town of Clun, sits in a superb position next to the river. Many people searching for a holiday cottage in Shropshire come across our website and are pleased they did so.
The site is in a private location with just ten lodges arranged around the loop of the river. The site is accessed down a short lane from the small village of Clunton which has a great pub, serving local ales and lovely home cooked food. Lots of great walks can be found in the area, many starting off from the lodge itself, so no need to drive first.
The Lodge is perfect for a romantic retreat or provides a peaceful hideaway for those seeking a relaxing holiday in an idyllic setting. This lodge, one of the larger ones on the site, has been thoughtfully decorated and is set entirely across the ground floor.
Ash Lodge includes a bright and airy double aspect lounge with fantastic views down the river and across the fields to the wooded hills. There are two leather sofas to relax on to enjoy those views or to settle back in front of the television. The bedrooms are generously proportioned, with one containing a luxury king size bed and the other twin single beds, all with luxury, sprung mattresses. Connected to the main bedroom, with separate access from the hall, is a large bathroom.
Outside there is a large decking area to the side and back. This is great for relaxing on either to eat at the table next to the river or lounging on the comfortable patio furniture, and is also ideal for sunbathing or chilling out in the evenings catching the late evening sun. We've had several keen ornithologists who have sat and patiently recorded a very large number of different types of bird including woodpeckers and herons and not forgetting of course the local geese, ducks and guinea fowl wandering around the site. Some people have even been fortunate enough to see an otter.
Walking is a must from this lodge. You don't need to drive anywhere, just pull on your boots and get going. Lot's of walking ideas in the lodge and a great OS map on the wall.
WE'RE SORRY BUT WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS. Please don't ask to as we don't make any exceptions, even for 'well behaved pets'.

You could not ask for a better location
By Pauline & Fred on 20-Sep-2025Well 5th visit , so think this means we love it here. It’s like coming home, everything clean, comfortable(except as we’ve got older, the sofas, seem to be lower but that’s just us ha ha) You could not ask for a better location, whatever time of the year is just gorgeous, just to sit looking at nature, we love it. Weather was variable this visit but did. not stop us visiting our usual haunts. Stokesley Castle was a first this time, very pretty and interesting. Thank you David & Denise , we wish you well for your futures and know we'll be back next year.
Beautiful and in a stunning location
By Debbie on 16-Nov-2025I recently had a stay at Ash Lodge. David the owner was a wonderful host and kept me informed, even ringing to check I was OK. The lodge itself is beautiful and in a stunning location, can't wait to return.
A home from home experience
By Teresa on 22-Feb-2026Just back from a 6 night stay at Ash Lodge. The owners were very accommodating with the dates we wanted to stay and gave us the best deal. They were great at keeping in contact before the stay and also during to ensure we had arrived safely and that everything was as we had expected. The Lodge itself is beautiful and cosy. A home from home experience with EVERYTHING you could ever thing you might need in a self catering property. The Lodge was immaculate and very comfortable. There are some nice walks to be had in the area and some nice places to visit too, but generally we found it was a bit over an hours drive in almost any direction to get to a main town with more things going on. So really does depend what you're after. But as the Lodge and the surroundings are so perfect you can just sit and while away your day watching the wildlife and river float by. Super relaxing.
Bright Spacious and Welcoming
By Janet on 04-Jul-2026We have been staying in Ash Lodge for a number of years now and we love the location next to the river Clun. The Lodge is bright, spacious and welcoming, it has everything we need and more. Thanks David and Denise for sharing it with us and others.
Second Visit
By Shirley Tipton on 18-Jul-2026Our second time of staying at Ash Lodge and we were not disappointed, it was just as immaculate as last time. Everything required for a great holiday was available including a well kitted out kitchen. it is located in a beautiful, quite, secluded area. The river runs alongside and views are of the countryside. We hope to return in the future.
