Buttercups & Hayloft are the perfect combination of cottages for a large gathering of 16 guests, with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The cottages are very well-appointed and are thoughtfully designed with everything your guests might need. With dining for your guests located in Buttercups, which has picturesque views over the Shropshire landscape through our floor to ceiling windows.Buttercups can sleep 10 guests and 2 cots across 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
Hayloft can sleep 6 guests and 2 cots across 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Your guests have access to all of our excellent on site facilities of Indoor Swimming Pool, Multi Sports Court and Under 5's Play Area - Booked for your own exclusive use - And our NEW Football Field, Picnic Area, BBQ's, Bike Store, Bird Watching & Star Gazing Areas, Oak Acre Avenue, Country Walks and WIFI.
Buttercups is a detached barn offers spacious living accommodation and entertainment space, ideal for larger families or groups of friends & perfect for a celebration.This stunning Georgian Hay Barn has been converted into a spectacular 6 bedroomed Holiday Cottage. The interior has been lovingly restored keeping the impressive oak trusses and beams, along with the original brick pillars, which appear throughout the building, creating a wonderfully luxurious atmosphere
The barn has incredible views looking directly out across a picturesque wild life pond and then on across the farmland, looking into Cheshire and Wales. These views can be admired through the full length windows. Relax and enjoy watching the rich wildlife outside, whilst sipping something bubbly inside. A truly beautiful holiday cottage.

Hayloft offers spacious, comfortable and well appointed accommodation, with oak beams and brick trusses throughout the cottage. With a wood burning stove located in the sitting room, this cottage offers a great break away space for your guests to enjoy, relax and unwind in.
Hayloft has a well equipped kitchen and dining area for 6, so your guests can spend some time together in a smaller group.
Hayloft also has a lovely enclosed private garden, with patio furniture and countryside views.

An excellent stay at the Alkington Grange

Emma was helpful in relation to local activities that we could plan, and she even got us some milk so that we could make a cup of tea when we reach the barn after a long journey. Good location, good facilities and the only thing I can comment on, is that it was very hot during the heat wave and we all struggled to sleep. We did take some fans with us but it wasn’t enough. The beds and pillows were comfortable and if it wasn’t the heat wave, we would have had a much better time. Overall, we had a lovely time for a long weekend.

Family together
By Guest on 05-Jun-2026We stayed as 8 adults and 8 children. There was enough space in the house to all eat together, and spend time indoors. There is plenty to do both on site and within a short drive. The pool was warm enough, and clean. This worked very well for our 4 families
Amazing Week
By Guest on 25-Apr-2026My family and friends (16 people) stayed in Buttercups/Hayloft for one week over Easter, the barns are absolutely beautiful, exceptionally clean and so well equipped I defy anyone to look for something that isn’t there. James and Emma make booking so easy, they are very helpful if you have any queries and so knowledgeable about places to visit etc. We were 12 adults and 4 children aged between 8 and 15, kids loved being able to swim everyday and go for nice walks in the beautiful surrounding area. If you are looking for somewhere for a large group this is THE place, so glad we found it and I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you James and Emma, keep doing what you’re doing.

Buttercup and Hayloft stunning properties
By Guest on 22-Aug-2025Wonderful stunning comfortable well equipped properties. Had a delightful week. All amenities were used. The little ones loved the under 5's play area. Visited the Iron bridge, the follies and many more place. The night skies wee amazing. The dawn bats flying by the pond was captivating.
