The Byre is the perfect retreat for couples wishing to spend quality time together and ideal for special occasions. In the rural idyll of Newbiggin in Bishopdale, just 1 mile from the stunning Aysgarth Falls, Wensleydale, The Byre spaciously accommodates 2 people. Just like a top hotel, nothing is too much trouble & no detail overlooked. With wood burning stove, EVCP, pillow & duvet menu, welcome tray and personal recommendations of walks, attractions & eateries. The Byre has its own unique appeal ... as individual as you."Our aim is to ensure you feel at home, whether you are coming for the first time, or returning for the tenth. We will happily take you to one of our personally recommended pubs or restaurants for that special occasion, even on Christmas Day, or just simply recommend a suitable walk - our pleasure is ensuring yours. We look forward to giving you a personal, warm welcome when you arrive at The Byre or The Dairy. You can only book direct with us directly, as the cottages are not offered through any agencies, providing an assurance of a personal service, especially as we are on site. We've stayed before at this lovely cottage and it is amazing

The best cottage we've ever been in, it had everything you could ever need and very clean and comfortable. It has a lovely new shower, which is super easy to use. A great base for exploring the dales and so much information in the cottage, just like your very own tourist information center. So peaceful and quiet.

A perfect place to stay
By Guest on 01-Jul-2026During the heatwave of June 2026 there was nowhere we would rather have been than in the cooler climes of beautiful lush Bishopdale. And it was wonderful to be immersed in Nature every day. We revisited all our favourite places and the garden is a paradise in itself. Andrew and Diane are very kind, helpful thoughtful hosts. It is such a pleasure to stay somewhere privately owned where the owners really do care about their guests.

From booking to departure Diane and Andrew go above and beyond. There is nothing to fault only praise at what has become a regular place for us to visit because it truly is a home from home.

By Guest on 06-May-2026We stayed for 1 week at The Byre and we were really amazed. The cottage was so well equipped, there was just nothing missing. Perfectly thought out and furnished with a lot of love and warmth, which you can feel from the moment you step in. Diane & Andrew are the perfect hosts. We will definitely be back soon:)
