Moss View Cottage is a beautiful and charming 17th-century dog-friendly holiday cottage located in the quiet hamlet of Oughtershaw, nestled deep in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Located directly on the Dales Way walking trail, it’s an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, and those seeking a peaceful rural retreat. Sleeping up to 4 guests and welcoming multiple dogs, Moss View Cottage really is a true example of a traditional Yorkshire Dales cottage and is a beautiful two bedroom dog friendly cottage.Inside, the cottage is full of character features including original stone floors, traditional stone mullion windows, and a welcoming and cosy living room with a freestanding log burner. A modern, fully equipped kitchen provides all the home comforts you need. Upstairs, there are two spacious bedrooms sleeping up to 4 guests, both with a king sized bed. A compact bathroom is conveniently located on the ground floor.
Outside, Moss View Cottage offers a very large enclosed garden - perfect for dogs - plus parking for two cars. The highlight is the private hot tub, perfectly positioned on the patio with steps down to decking overlooking Oughtershaw Beck. A picnic table and chairs make this a perfect spot to relax after a day exploring the Dales listening to the river as it flows past the cottage or hearing the different bird songs.
From the doorstep, you can walk up onto Oughtershaw Moor and follow forest tracks to Low Greenfield, hike the Dales Way (which passes past the cottage) or explore Fleet Moss and beyond. Hawes is just a 20-minute drive away, with its cafés, boutique shops, art galleries, and the famous Wensleydale Creamery. Families can also enjoy the neighbouring small family-run farm, where you might meet some friendly resident animals too.
