Description

Pilmuir, is a former coach inn, is a bike and family friendly self catering cottage which sleeps 2 - 8 people (plus cot), and has a wood burner. The cottage is set in 3 acres of land in the Cairngorm National Park near Boat of Garten, Aviemore making your stay a unique experience. As one guest famously said "it's more than just a cottage".

Pilmuir has been owned by the same family since 2007 who themselves stay regularly. It is set within easy reach of the Snow Roads Scenic Route, North Coast 500 and the North East 250 so a great location from which to explore the area whilst enjoying character, history (Queen Victoria previously visited) and some spectacular panoramic views over the Cairngorm mountains. The cottage also has an electric vehicle charging point should this be required.

There is plenty walking in the area and we are close to the Speyside Way, the River Spey and the Boat of Garten pump track. There are walks direct from the door if you are interested a 15minute walk takes you to the village of Boat of Garten for food, golf, Strathspey steam railway and shops. Aviemore and Grantown on Spey are both less than 10minutes by car with many facilities from swimming pools, climbing walls, golf courses, shops and restaurants. For those interested in skiing the Cairngorm mountain is a 30minutes drive away or there is the choice of the Lecht which is about 40minutes in the other direction. If you wish to go further afield, Inverness is 40minutes away and there are plenty of Speyside distilleries within the area.

Downstairs is a king bedroom with shower and toilet. There is also an open plan living room, dinning room and kitchen. Upstairs there is a single, double and family bedroom with a bathroom

Family friendly with high chair, cot and toys. There is a wood burner, plenty outside sitting space, ample parking and 3 acres of garden and field to explore and play in.

Check out is by 10am and check in after 5pm

From the South and North
To get to Pilmuir from the South of Scotland head north up the A9 towards Inverness and turn off at Aviemore. Follow signs through Aviemore towards Grantown on Spey / Boat of Garten which is about 7 miles from Aviemore. When coming from the North, turn off the A9 at Carrbridge and follow signs for A95 and Boat of Garten. After passing Boat of Garten remain on the A95 and you enter the village of Drumuillie. Continue through the village and after the row of houses on your right (including Locheil and Drumullie Steading), there are a number of houses on your left. Pilmuir is the fourth on the left and the second last house before leaving the Village.

From the East
From the east coast of Scotland head towards Grantown on Spey – 35 miles from Elgin and Inverness. Once near Grantown follow signs on the A95 for Aviemore. The village of Drumuillie will appear in about 7 miles, after passing the Heather centre. On entering the village, Pilmuir is the second cottage on the right hand side.

Arriving by Train and Air
