Description
The Longhouse is our holiday home on a family croft by the coast on the Isle of Lewis. it was built to our design as our perfect holiday home, a way to connect me back to the island where I was born. With 2 bedrooms for 4 guests, it is fully equipped to the highest self-catering standards with all you need for a perfect stay, a healthy dose of luxury and close to the beach in an area of peaceful, natural beauty.In the perfect location to explore history, culture and wildlife, the house is set low on the hillside with wide, uninterrupted views east, south and west to watch the world go by and weather change throughout the day, a special place to escape and relax.
The spacious double–height open plan living/dining/kitchen area has large windows bringing the outside in and glass doors opening south onto a large wraparound deck. Upstairs is a quiet relaxing area upstairs with viewing balcony and wifi-connected office area.
Underfloor heating keeps oak floors warm underfoot and a multi-fuel stove keeps you cosy. The kitchen area is well stocked for all your needs. Bedrooms face south to make the most of coastal views. The master suite with superking bed, has a wet-room style ensuite. The second bedroom (superking or twin) sits opposite the bathroom with relaxing bath and separate shower.

By Jamie on 18-Aug-2026The Longhouse is a perfect stay for those visiting the Isle of Lewis. We are a family of 4 (a terrible 2 year old and a baby) and the space was perfect for us. Plenty of room to run around both inside and out. The modern house is exceptionally well fitted out with all mod cons. The attention to detail is first class. The views out towards the sea are fantastic and provide a changing panorama every day. The island can be remote but the close proximity to Stornoway was a definite advantage
Beautiful house, great holiday

A huge amount of care and thought has gone into the information provided by Linda to help guests enjoy the house and Lewis. This is also reflected in the comfort of the Longhouse. Was there anything in particular that you liked, or disliked, about staying in the Longhouse? The mattress and linens were fabulous in the master bedroom.
An excellent base to explore the Isle of Lewis and Harris.

Our first day there, we didn't leave the house or grounds, as it was so nice to just sit, relax, read and look out the windows at the bay and watch the weather unfold. We especially enjoyed the kitchen. The home has many fine details you wouldn't necessarily expect in a guest house, it felt like we were staying in a very nice home. Very impressed by the overall cleanliness, loved the kitchen, beautiful views of the bay from the windows, felt like a very professionally designed home with lovely artwork and furnishings, didn't want to leave.
Luxury house in great location

A comfortable and cosy stay at the Longhouse

It is well positioned on Lewis whether you decide to go exploring the island or just sit in comfort and look out at the beautiful views surrounding the house. The house itself has all the amenities you need whether staying for a short break or longer. It was a pleasure to return after a day out seeing the sights and relax in front of the woodburner. Linda and Paul were great hosts and provided a lot of great information on the house as well as the island itself. They also left us a lovely welcome basket which was very much appreciated. Overall we had a fantastic stay and highly recommend a staying at the Longhouse if you can. Fiona x
