About Ty Cwch
Ty Cwch is an award‑winning, architect‑designed boathouse on the Ceredigion coast in Cardigan Bay. Featured on Channel 4’s Britain’s Best Beach Huts, S4C, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Coast Magazine and the Rough Guide to Wales, it suits active families, friend groups, clubs and anyone who enjoys simple comfort, coastal adventure and shared time together.
Step from the boathouse onto a quiet Welsh beach where dolphins are often seen from the beach and seals pup in the Autumn. Three heated sleeping pods, a fully equipped social kitchen and outdoor spaces that open to the valley create a relaxed basecamp for up to 12 guests. Launch kayaks from the doorstep, walk the Welsh Coast Path, watch for wildlife, then gather around the firepit as the light fades.
Guest review
“Ty Cwch really is a little slice of heaven, it’s so brilliant that we ended up going twice this summer. The coast path in both directions is utterly stunning, the beach whether crashing waves or calm and flat is an utter joy, the seals bobbing and watching you is something you’ll never forget and the cafe does a great hot chocolate.
The house is perfect whether for a small group (our first visit) or a family gathering (our second), superbly kitted out so you don’t want for anything yet unique enough that you, and the small ones, don’t feel it’s too boringly like home!”

If you’re looking for somewhere to bring family, friends or a walking group, Ty Cwch is hard to beat.
By Damon Creed on 05-Jul-2026This was Outdoorlads second stay at Ty Cwch, and it certainly won’t be our last. The accommodation sleeps 12 and worked brilliantly for us. The large open-plan kitchen, dining and living space meant everyone could eat, socialise and relax together comfortably. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, the bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds, and there always seemed to be plenty of hot water after long walks and sea swims. The location is what really makes Ty Cwch special. Cwmtydu is a peaceful, picturesque little cove just a few yards from the property, making it incredibly easy to enjoy multiple swims throughout the day. The Wales Coast Path is also right on the doorstep, making this an ideal base for walkers and anyone wanting to explore the spectacular Cardigan Bay coastline. The sunsets are unforgettable too. We also loved how sympathetically the accommodation has been designed. Its eco-friendly construction blends beautifully into the landscape while still providing everything you need for a comfortable stay. Opening the large doors on warm evenings created a wonderful indoor-outdoor space that everyone enjoyed, al-fresco dining with sea views! Parking was plentiful, which is a real bonus for larger groups, and the whole property felt thoughtfully designed for group stays. If you’re looking for somewhere to bring family, friends or a walking group, Ty Cwch is hard to beat. Fantastic accommodation, an incredible location, and the perfect place to switch off, explore the coast and make lasting memories. Highly recommended. Rooms: 5/5Service: 5/5Location: 5/5

Great view, Quiet, Child-friendly, Great value
By Polo shirtplug! on 03-Apr-2026We love this place and have returned … there’s is so much to do if it’s sunny and at night it is peaceful and quiet. There are great walks in every direction and it’s a beautiful location. Loved on one occasion we were able to open up all the front as the weather was great and it was fabulous….people kept stopping to ask about the venue. Bonus is the use of the kayak and life jackets, we took our own boat as well and had a great time in the sea, no beach but it’s great for the kayaks. Everything you need in the kitchen although it’s a bit of a squeeze if lots cooking. Bedrooms are ok, beds comfy enough room only downside is getting up in the night for toilet. Showers suitable. We love this place and great value. Would only hire the whole place though but we are a big family. One time the code didn’t work but host was really helpful
Great view, Romantic, child friendly, great value
By Thomas Roberts on 01-May-2026Truly special. If you like your bare feet on the floor, spending your time meeting new people, being by the sea and the beach and spending the evening around a fire then this is perfect for you! The location is amazing right on the beach, with views out across the cove. Concept of the container units works superbly well. Sleeping cabins well insulated, dark and the wider single beds are spacious and comfy. Shower is hot and two shower rooms works well. Communal area is spacious and kitchen well equipped. Outdoor gear to use in abundance. Commend the owners for having this available for all to use. Having spent years and years holidaying and hiking in North Wales I was stunned how beautiful the mid-wales coast is. Only there for two nights, but spent a full day on Aberporth beach that is perfect for little ones. Calm cove and amenities close to the beach. Day was capped off watching a pod of dolphins breaching in the cove. Spent the following day in New Quay. Would stay for longer next time. Place would be great for a few families together or outdoors groups. Thanks for creating it for us :-)
Great view, quiet, child friendly, great value
By Oskar Cizic on 01-Jun-2026We had an amazing weekend at Cwmtydu!! The location was stunning… 2 mins walk to the beach. There was a small village shop with some essentials. The accommodation itself was perfect for our group. Lots of space and great facilities. The living area and kitchen are well kitted out and spacious. The sleeping area is a little like dormitories and got a little stuffy but the bunk beds were very comfortable. All in all we had an absolutely brilliant weekend and would 100% come and stay again. Nigel was also very kind and helpful from start to finish and a great host. Great communication.
