An excellent bolthole
By Murray on 01-Aug-0006Ty Mari is a lovely cottage, tucked away in a small group of homes in Cwmystwyth, with lovely views across the hills and its own gated parking area with a little summerhouse style seating area. Inside the cottage is homely, well equipped and comfortable. Naturally being an old cottage it has a few squeaks and creaks, but the beds are comfortable, the living space is open and well set out and the kitchen had all we needed. The selection of DVDs and pot of Welsh honey were welcome touches too. The cottage does have an adjoining holiday home but the sound doesn't really travel, so the place felt private and the area was wonderfully quiet. All in all, an excellent bolthole for visiting Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge and plenty more in this part of mid Wales.
Fantastic stay
By David on 01-Mar-2026Fantastic stay, would definitely return! So peaceful & beautiful setting. Was a great location for Elan Valley & Devils bridge/Hafod estate. The drive in from Elan Valley to home was incredible! Garden nice & secure for dogs as well which is a huge plus.
Quiet country stay
By Valissa on 01-Apr-2025Lovely cottage in a quiet location, well equipped and lots of information at the cottage of things to do in the area. Justin was very helpful with upfront information and was quick to respond to messages. Would recommend if you are looking for a quiet country stay. Be prepared to do quite a bit of driving if you want to do more than walking and relaxing.
Loved the fireplace
By Mohammed on 01-Aug-2026We had a fantastic week at the cottage and really enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful, comfortable and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, with great views from the property. The beds were really comfortable, and the high-quality furniture and bedding made the cottage feel very well presented and welcoming. We particularly loved the fireplace, which added a lovely cosy feel. The host was also very responsive and helpful whenever we needed anything. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful cottage with excellent views and a really comfortable feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
Fabulous cottage
By Nicola Atuanya on 26-Jul-2021Ty Mari a fabulous cottage. Wonderful location in one of the most beautiful valleys in Wales. Exceptionally well equipped and comfortable. Had a very relaxing couple of weeks and will definitely return.
So many years visiting!
By Philip Andrews on 19-Oct-2020The five members of the Early Mines Research Group have stayed at Ty Mari most years since 1993. That we have returned again and again to this well-appointed, cosy cottage in an idyllic location should say it all about how much we appreciate it. The always helpful owners and people who maintain it make our one, two or sometimes three-week long visits something that we always look forward to - and we will be back again in 2021!
